Duzce is the capital city of Duzce Province is the eighty-first Province in Turkey. Dursun Ay (AKP) was elected the mayor in the provincial council after Mehmet Keles resigned from the position.The population in 2009 was 125,240, an increase from 61,878 in 1990.

Duzce is the eighty-first and the newest province of Turkey. It is situated on the Black Sea between the Capital Ankara and Istanbul. It was greatly affected by both the Marmara and Duzce earthquakes of 1999.Ankara is 240 km to the east and Istanbul is 228 km to the west. Road D-100 passes through Duzce, while the TEM highway passes around it.

Duzce is on the plateau of the West Black Sea coast. It is bordered to the west by Sakarya, to the northeast by Zonguldak, and to the east by Bolu. It opens to the Black Sea with the valley of Buyuk Melen on the northwest. Duzce is 23 km across from east to west, and 20 km from north to south.Nearby are also some tourist centers and popular attractions such as Abant, Kartalkaya, Yedigoller, Golcuk and Akcakoca.Although the summers are hot and winters are cold, it changes between the West Black Sea and Central Anatolian climates. The main agricultural products in Duzce are tobacco, maize wheat, nut and many kinds of wheat and vegetables.

Osmaniye is a city in the Cukurova region of Turkey, the capital of Osmaniye Province. Area 3,767 km². Population of Osmaniye city: 219,339. Osmaniye Province: 512,804. Osmaniye is at an elevation of 125 meters.Located on the eastern edge of the Cukurova plain in the foothills of the Nur Mountains, the gateway between Anatolia and the Middle East, Osmaniye is on the Silk Road, a place of strategic importance and has been a settlement for various civilizations including the Hittites, Persians, Romans and Armenians.

The Islamic presence in the area was first established by the Abbasid Caliph Harun Rashid, auxiliaries in his army being the first Turks to fight in Anatolia. They obviously took a shine to the place and following the Turkish victory over the Byzantines at Malazgirt in 1071 waves of Turkish conquest began. The Nur Mountains were settled by the Ulasli tribe of the Turkmens.

The Ulasli remained the local power through into the period of the Ottoman Empire and were even involved in the Celali uprisings, during a period of uncertain Ottoman rule in the 17th century. Eventually, in 1865 the Ottoman general Dervis Paşa was charged with bringing law and order to Cukurova. He established his headquarters in the Osmaniye villages of Dereobasi, Fakıusagı, Akyar and brought the Ulasli down from the high mountains to the village of Haciosmanli. This eventually became the province of Osmaniye. The city of Osmaniye was formally a district governorate and between 1924 and 1933 capital of the province. However, in 1933 the province was abolished and Osmaniye was made the district governorate of Adana province which continued till 1996.

Kilis is a city in south-east Turkey, near the border with Syria, and the administrative centre of Kilis Province.It lies near the Syrian border north of Aleppo, Syria, and is often identified with the ancient town of Kilisi mentioned in Assyrian records. It was occupied by France after World War I but was returned to Turkey in 1921.The country around Kilis is fertile, producing olives, grapes, and pistachio nuts. The town’s major industries are silk and cotton manufacture. Kilis lies on the main highway from Aleppo to Gaziantep and Kahramanmaras.

Kilis is surrounded by three important cities named Gaziantep, Antakya and Aleppo, in the region in which the Anatolia Plateau ends and the Syria plain begins. As a result of its proximity to the North Mediterranean, it is in a transition region between the Mediterranean climate and the continental climate. It is in the northwestern part of the Mesopotamia region name as the “Fertile Crescent”, which has been a settling area since the very beginning of history.The Oncupınar Syrian border crossing is 5 km (3 mi) to the south and the large city of Gaziantep is 60 km (37 mi) to the north. Indeed, until 1996 Kilis was a district of Gaziantep Province, being made into a province by Tansu Ciller following an open vote-winning gambit in the 1995 general election.

Karabuk is a town and the capital district of Karabuk Province in the Black Sea region of Turkey. According to the 2009 census, population of the city is 108 167.The district covers an area of 760 km2 (293 sq mi) and the town lies at an elevation of 354 m (1,161 ft).Karabuk was built in the 1930s as the seat of the iron and steel industry of Turkey. Thus it has one of the worst- if not the worst – air pollution in the country, with a hazardous Air Quality Index of 328.Karabuk lies in a location near Filyos River formed by the merge of Arac and Soganlı rivers.

Once a small hamlet, it has grown rapidly since the establishment of Turkey’s first major iron-and-steel complex there in 1940. The works were expanded greatly in the 1950s and ’60s. Facilities include a coking plant, blast furnaces, a foundry, and tube works; chemical plants produce sulfuric acid and phosphates. The mills receive coal and manganese by rail from Zonguldak and iron ore from the Divrigi mines; dolomite and limestone are obtained locally. Karabuk lies on the rail line between Ankara and Zonguldak and is linked by road with Ankara and Kastamonu.

Yalova is a city located in northwestern Turkey, near the eastern coast of the Sea of Marmara. Yalova has a city population of 100,863, while the population of Yalova Province is 118,998 as of 2011. Currently there is a controversy around the municipal election results in Yalova especially after the Supreme Election Board invalidated the 2014 Municipal Election results on April 24, 2014 after a few recounts that changed results.

Yalova is a small city and for the most part very walkable. In the warm months, Gazi Paşa Caddesi is very popular for strolling with tourists and locals alike. To get to Gazi Paşa Cad. from the İDO terminal, go straight along Atatürk Cad. towards town, and cross directly over the large intersection at Heykel.Like most small Turkish cities, Yalova has a dolmus (mini-bus) system. Yalova’s dolmuses are light blue and run from the most important sites in the city, primarily along Ataturk Caddesi and Fatih Caddesi. Noteworthy stops include: Yalova Otogar (bus station), IDO (ferry terminal), Heykel (merkez/city center), and Termal. Stops can be requested at any time directly from the driver. Dolmus-riding costs 1.50 TL (in Turkish bir bucuk, “one and a half”) to most destinations, although from the city center it costs 2.50 TL (iki bucuk) to ride to Termal.

Igdir Province is a province in eastern Turkey, located along the borders with Armenia, Azerbaijan and Iran. Its adjacent provinces are Kars to the northwest and Agrı to the west and south. It occupies an area of 3,587 km2 and population of 184,418, it was 168,634 in 2000 (up from 142,601 in 1990). It was created from southeastern part of the former Kars Province in 1993. The current Governor of the province is Hüseyin Engin Sarıibrahim.

The city and province are named after a western Turkish clan called Igdir that belonged to a branch of the Oghuz Turks.They spread throughout Anatolia and there are several towns and villages named Igdir in Eskisehir Province and other parts of Turkey today.The city in Armenian is called Igdir also Tsolakert, after an ancient settlement nearby. The city is most commonly called Idir in Kurdish, however the city is also called Resqelas in Kurdish, which is of Kurdish etymology.

Ardahan is a city in northeastern Turkey, near the Georgian border. It is the capital of Ardahan Province.Ardahan Province is populated by Azerbaijanis, Kurds and Turks. However, the area was heterogeneous prior to World War I and the Armenian Genocide.

Ardahan province is located in the far north east of Turkey, where the eastern extremity of the high plateau of Eastern Anatolia converges with the Lesser Caucasus mountain range. It is consequently an area of very high altitude and severe winters. This is attractive open countryside which however spends many months of the year under snow. At this altitude temperatures on average reach −20 °C (−4 °F) and can drop below freezing all year round, including summer months.The local economy depends on farming and raising livestock. Until 1993 Ardahan was a district of the province of Kars, becoming a province in its own right has meant more investment in infrastructure.There are two crossing points into the Samtskhe–Javakheti district of Georgia, one at Posof and the other (currently closed) at Cildir. The Turkish military have a strong presence in this border district, another boost to the local economy.

Bartin is a city in northern Turkey and the central district of the province of Bartin.Formerly a district of Zonguldak Province, Bartin was made into a province seat in 1991 with the constitution of its province, including four districts: Central Bartin, Amasra, Kurucasile, and Ulus). The city, with a population of c. 48,000 is situated 14 kilometres (8.7 mi) inland on the Bartin River that is navigable for vessels between the city and the Black Sea coast. Bartin River is the only navigable river for vessels in Turkey.

The historic progress of Bartin continues with the dominance of Roman Empire and Byzantine Empire and later with the dominance of Turkish Seljuks and Candarogullari State between 11th – 13th centuries AD. Bartin was conquered by the Ottoman sultan Yildirim Bayazit in 1392.The wooden houses of Bartin display the architectural characteristics of the art movements after the Tanzimat Fermani (Reforms Decree). Temperate Black Sea naval climate is experienced in Bartin. Summer seasons are hot while winter seasons are chilly, and lots of rain of course which gives all of its green vegetation of the region. The Bartin River passing through the city gives way to boat trips in the city to catch a glimpse of perfect landscape.

Sirnak is a town in southeastern Turkey. It is the capital of Sirnak Province, a new province that split from the Mardin and Siirt provinces. The Habur border gate with Iraq which is one of Turkey’s main links to Arab countries is also on Sirnak.

Sirnak Province has some mountainous regions in the west and the south, but the majority of the province consists of plateaus, resulting from the many rivers that cross it. These include the Tigris (and its tributaries Hezil and Kizilsu) and Caglayan. The most important mountains are Mount Cudi (2089 m),Mount Gabar, Mount Namaz and Mount AltIn.

Batman is a majority Kurdish city in the Southeastern Anatolia Region of Turkey and the capital of Batman Province. It lies on a plateau, 540 meters (1,772 feet) above sea level, near the confluence of the Batman River and the Tigris. The Batı Raman oil field, which is the largest oil field in Turkey, is located just outside the city. Batman has a local airport and a military airbase, which was used for transit of aircraft and helicopters in some search and rescue operations during the Gulf War.

A government-owned refinery is located at Batman, and a pipeline extends for nearly 320 miles (515 km) from the oil fields near Batman to the port of İskenderum on the Mediterranean Sea coast. Batman’s industries produce beverages, processed food, chemicals, furniture and fixtures, footwear, machinery, and transport equipment. The town has road and railway links with Diyarbakır and Kurtalan, and it has an airport.
