		<div class="wpb_wrapper">
<p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Finland is one of Europe’s last places of true wilderness. The forests and national parks of Finland hide thousands of strange stories and secrets to be revealed by those who love nature hiking and trekking.</span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">There are caves, rocks and gorges shaped in unusual ways by the ice-age and the effects of the long winters. There are secret paths that lead to age-old places of rituals and rites. Some are not-so-easy to find, the others – such as a fascinating rock labyrinth – are only a short way away from the capital Helsinki.</span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">These are places known only by few. Do you dare to explore?</span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Scroll down to see some of the most odd and unusual nature sites in Finland.</span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><strong><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">PAHA-KOLI / EVIL KOLI</span></strong><br />
<span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">The high slopes of Koli are the remains of an ancient mountain and one of the most famous landscapes in Finland. Because the place is so unusual in its wild and rugged beauty, it has been worshipped throughout times. Trials were held at the top of Paha-Koli and those convicted were tossed down from the high cliff to their death. If someone survived the fall it was a sign that the gods wanted to save that person.</span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Koli is situated in North Karelia by the Lake Pielinen. The nearest cities to Koli are Kuopio and Joensuu.</span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><strong><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">HÖGBERGET’S CAVE</span></strong><br />
<span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Högberget’s Cave – possibly the most peculiar shaped cave in Finland – was formed during the ice age deglaciation. When the meltwater washed down the rock crevice, its powerful pressure hollowed out a vertical hole onto it. The cave is shaped like an onion and is around two meters high and around one meter wide. Because of the view opening from the mouth of the cave it has been suspected that the place had some kind of significance to fertility rites.</span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Högberget’s Cave can be found in Kirkkonummi quite close to Helsinki.</span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><strong><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">KUMMAKIVI / STRANGEROCK</span></strong><br />
<span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Kummakivi is worthy of its name. It is a huge block swinging on top of a rounded, smaller rock. The rock has attracted curious visitors from all over the world who all keep wondering: how on earth did this massive block end up there and how is it still balancing there after all this time?</span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Kummakivi is in Ruokolahti in Etelä-Karjala.</span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><strong><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">THE DEVIL ROCKS IN PAASVESI</span></strong><br />
<span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">The Devil Rocks of island Läpisyöksy in Paasvesi have still been feared and worshipped even in the 1900s. The largest of these rocks is full of special holes that form a giant face. It is said that they were carved by the gnomes. When the strong north wind blows into its holes, this extraordinary rock screams like pipe organs. People used to be so afraid to go on the island that if they did manage it, which was rare, they were sure to make a sacrifice to the rock.</span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Paasvesi is in Savonranta in Etelä-Savo.</span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><strong><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">ROCKS LIKE CHEESE</span></strong><br />
<span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Tafoni are one of the specialty of Finnish nature. From the right angle the rocks with tafoni formations may look like your average boulders but if you look closer, you find that their insides are full of holes resembling Swiss cheese. The holes, so big that even a human could go through them, are quite an incredible sight – becoming ever more so as the holes keep expanding due to humidity, frost and heat as time goes by.</span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Some of the greatest tafonis can be found at Karhunpesäkivi in Inari and at Pirenpesä in Nokia.</span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><strong><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">GIANT’S KETTLES AND POTHOLES</span></strong><br />
<span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Until the 1950’s people thought it was just your ordinary landscape of rocks and boulders. Then a local man happened to wonder in the area, leaning onto a little tree that severed from the ground. Underneath there was a very weird shape in the rock – a sort of a pond. Later on over 20 Giant’s kettles have been found in the area. It is quite a sight, a treat for the imagination one might say. It is no wonder that these holes were worshipped in the olden days.</span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">This magical place can be found in Askola.</span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><strong><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">VALKULAMMI MOUNTAIN</span></strong><br />
<span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">The Valkulammi mountain is a great example of the thousands of secrets Finnish nature holds. Narrow gorges, caves and huge boulders form their own strange world in which a human is a rare guest. Next to the mountain there is a dark forest that only few dare to enter. You can even come across with a bear. The place is so well hidden that despite its uniqueness, it has been left out of the Isojärvi National park area so close by.</span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Valkulammi is in Kuhmoinen.</span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><strong><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">HITONHAUTA / DEVIL’S TOMB</span></strong><br />
<span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">In the middle of a plain forest the land all of a sudden tears into a deep gorge. It is the largest one in Middle-Finland, being 30 to 40 meters wide and even 25 meters deep. It is always chilly down there, but a beautiful small pond, a waterfall and many caves are waiting for the traveler brave enough to enter. It was believed that a spirit called Hitto (Devil) lived in the area and this is how the place got its name.</span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Devil’s Tomb is in Laukaa.</span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><strong><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">ROCK LABYRINTH CLOSE TO HELSINKI</span></strong><br />
<span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Less than an hour away from Helsinki you can find one of the most interesting nature sites of Uusimaa. A rock edge shaped by an ancient earthquake is full of caves formed by tens of crevices and boulders. They are believed to have been sources of power for the ancient wise men, who went there to contact the spirits. Some say it isn’t so rare to spot a shaman there nowadays either…</span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">The rock labyrinth is situated in Rokokallio, Vihti.</span></p>

		<div class="wpb_wrapper">
<p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">There are many reasons to fall in love with Finland and the Finns (who are in fact the happiest people in the world). As it would be impossible to list them all we decided to just make a random list of some interesting and fun facts – hope you enjoy it!</span></p>
<p><strong><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">THE BEST PLACE TO SPOT &#8211; THE NORTHERN LIGHTS</span></strong><br />
<span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Some of world’s best Northern Lights can be spotted in Finnish Lapland.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">The Aurora Borealis – as they are also called – can appear more than 200 nights a year. That’s pretty much every winter night.</span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><strong><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">MORE FOREST AND WATER THAN ANYWHERE ELSE IN EUROPE</span></strong><br />
<span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">You may have heard that Finland is the “Land of a Thousand Lakes”. Well, it is also a land of thousands of forests. Over 70 % of Finland is taken over by beautiful forest – more than any other European country and an area larger than UK or Italy!</span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">The 188 000 lakes of Finland, on the other hand, are so vast that Finland has most water in relation to land mass of all the countries in the world. This water is also some of the cleanest.</span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><strong><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">FREEDOM TO ROAM THE LAND: EVERYMAN’S RIGHT</span></strong><br />
<span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">A Finnish term “Everyman’s right” (Jokamiehen Oikeus) means you can walk freely in the nature, anywhere you want. </span><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Forests offer us mushrooms, berries and wonderful fresh air as we take in the smells, sounds and tastes of one of Europe’s last wilderness regions.</span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><strong><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">THE MOST CREATIVE FOOD SCENE</span></strong><br />
<span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Did you know Restaurant Day – a day when anyone can set up a restaurant of their choice, anywhere they want – is a Finnish invention? </span><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">And would you have imagined that Helsinki has one of the most vibrant food scenes in Europe?</span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><strong><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">THE ONE AND ONLY SANTA CLAUS</span></strong><br />
<span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Finland is the only place in the world to meet the real Santa Claus. </span><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Although originally from Korvatunturi, the man in red now resides in Rovaniemi, Lapland, where he greets visitors all year round.</span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><strong><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">THE BEST PLACE FOR SKIING</span></strong><br />
<span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">In Finland the skiing season can last way over 6 months – from late October all the way until May. </span><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">During the darkest winter days the ski slopes are lit and in the spring the sun shines until late at night.</span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">If you fancy going cross-country, there are hundreds and hundreds of kilometres worth of ski tracks in Finnish Lapland. For example, Ylläs’ 330km of tracks are more than any one place has to offer in Europe.</span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><strong><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">THE CLEANEST AIR</span></strong><br />
<span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Did you know that Helsinki has some of the cleanest tap water of all big cities in the world and that Kilpisjärvi in Lapland has the cleanest air in Europe?</span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><strong><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">3+ MILLION SAUNAS – MOST PER CAPITA</span></strong><br />
<span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">This is a category where Finland truly sets itself apart from the rest of the world. Finns are the unquestioned champions of sauna – we have over 3 million of them, which is more than one sauna for every other citizen. </span><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Add the hundreds of thousands of small lakeside cottages and cabins to this – peace and quiet guaranteed.</span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><strong><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">THE SAFEST PLACE IN THE WORLD</span></strong><br />
<span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Finland is one of the few countries in the world where lost wallets and mobile phones get returned to their rightful owner*. People feel safe walking alone in city parks or use public transport regardless of the hour.</span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">*11 out of 12 wallets deliberately left abandoned around Helsinki were returned according to a Reader’s Digest global test on honesty.</span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><strong><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">MOST COFFEE LOVERS</span></strong><br />
<span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Perhaps it has something to do with the coldness of winters – the Finns just LOVE their coffee. Finnish people consume more coffee per person than does any other nation in the world. </span><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">This obviously means that there are quite many amazing coffee shops and cafes around the country!</span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><strong><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">THE ONE AND ONLY MIDNIGHT SUN FILM FESTIVAL</span></strong><br />
<span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">When the sun stays up for over two consecutive months in the northernmost parts of the country it is time to be festive. Perhaps the most iconic of summer events is the Midnight Sun Film Festival in Sodankylä, Lapland. </span><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">2015 marked the event’s 30th anniversary, inviting tens of thousands of international movie buffs to watch films under the never-setting sun.</span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><strong><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">THE ANGRIEST BIRDS</span></strong><br />
<span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">You didn’t know the Angry Birds were a Finnish invention, did you now? Clash of Clans also comes from Finland, as do most of the greatest mobile phone games ever invented. </span><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">In fact, per capita, Finland has produced more successful games than any other country in the world.</span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><strong><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">THE HOME OF THE MOOMINS</span></strong><br />
<span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">As if Santa Claus wasn’t enough, Finland is also home to the mysterious little creatures called the Moomins. </span><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Created by the talented Finnish author and illustrator Tove Jansson, the Moomins’ presence can be felt and seen – both metaphorically in the surrounding nature and for “real” in places such as the Naantali Moomin World or the Tampere Moomin Museum.</span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><strong><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">THE BOLDEST DESIGN</span></strong><br />
<span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Finland is a true design nation. Some of the world’s most imitated and admired designers and architects come from Finland. From Eero Aarnio’s Ball Chair as James Bond’s favorite seat to Marimekko Poppies worn by Jackie O, Finland has been setting trends for decades.</span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><strong><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">THE GREATEST HEAVY METAL BANDS</span></strong><br />
<span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Apocalyptica, HIM, Nightwish, Amorphis…these are just some of the names that will get those metal-loving hearts racing all around the world. </span><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Finland’s heavy metal bands are in a league of their own – there is nothing to rival them. See for yourself in the great Tuska open air metal festival in June!</span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><strong><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">THE CRAZIEST EVENTS</span></strong><br />
<span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Ever heard of the Wife Carrying, Air Guitar Playing or Mobile Phone Throwing World Championships? Finns are a bit crazy when it comes to contests and events. </span><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Whether an event “makes sense” or not, does not matter. What’s important is that you let yourself go and have fun!</span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><strong><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">THE BEST PLACE TO BE A MOTHER – OR A CHILD</span></strong><br />
<span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Did you know that many Finnish newborns sleep in cardboard boxes? Since 1938 Finnish state has provided all expectant mothers with a beautiful, durable box with clothes, sheets, nappies, toys and a mattress – making it an excellent bed for a tiny newcomer.</span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">All mothers get to stay at home with their baby for almost a year with full salary or excellent benefits. When a parent with a child in a buggy uses public transport, they travel free of charge in most cities.</span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">When the children grow older, their luck continues – Finland has held first place in OECD’s Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) for several years, ranking our education system as one of the world’s best.</span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">This means that the Finnish school – also free of charge – is a good place for a child and that they are happy.</span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><strong><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">THE LARGEST ARCHIPELAGO</span></strong><br />
<span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Finland’s coast boasts the world’s largest archipelago. It is difficult to get an exact number, but there are at least 70,000 islands, with over 20,000 of those being large enough for a small cabin or summer house. </span><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">On some, you can also find beautiful old lighthouses, converted into tiny hotels.</span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><strong><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">THE RAREST SEAL IN THE WORLD</span></strong><br />
<span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Cute, huh? The Saimaa ringed seal is one of the few living freshwater seals in the world. This endangered seal has a total population of only about 310 individuals and they can only be found in Lake Saimaa – the largest lake in Finland.</span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><strong><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">THE WEIRDEST LANGUAGE</span></strong><br />
<span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Doubt it? Try pronouncing Äkäslompolo and you’ll soon see. The longest word is: “epäjärjestelmällistyttämättömyydelläänsäkäänköhän” – quite a tongue twister for some – but not us Finns!</span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">*Any Finnish noun can have over 200 different forms</span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><strong><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">HAPPIEST COUNTRY IN THE WORLD</span></strong><br />
<span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Fans of Northern Lights, sauna and Santa Claus won’t be surprised to hear Finland has been named the happiest place to live. This year Finland topped the World Happiness Report, in which 156 countries were ranked by happiness levels, based on factors such as life expectancy, social support and corruption.</span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><strong><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">AND OF COURSE – THE WORLD’S MOST MODEST PEOPLE</span></strong><br />
<span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">After such a list of “facts”, don’t you agree?</span><br />
<span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Pst! Finns love to take things to the extreme – like swimming in icy water (pictured) or racing in the world’s toughest competitions (think of Kimi Räikkönen and Formula 1), just to point out two.</span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><em><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Why not experience it all yourself?</span></em></p>

<p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Far up North, there is a place simply so magical that it just makes you fall in love. With it’s pastel skies, snow covered trees, cozy hideouts and adorable furry friends Finnish Lapland invites you to explore the more remote “Do Not Disturb” location.</span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">With its breathtaking scenery and world-class accommodations, this “Jewel of the North” reimagines the spirit of romance in truly unique ways. Check out our tips below for a romantic getaway in Finnish Lapland.</span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><strong><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">EXTRAORDINARY ACCOMMODATION</span></strong><br />
<span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Special occasion requires a special accommodation. A night in a glass igloo or in a tree house, under the blazing northern lights, is for sure one to remember.</span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><strong><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">NORTHERN LIGHTS</span></strong><br />
<span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">These days, many people believe auroras have a beneficial effect on fertility. This belief has probably been influenced by the undeniable fact that spending a night under the Northern Lights is by far the most romantic way to spend your holiday.</span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><strong><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">HUSKY SAFARI</span></strong><br />
<span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Tour the Arctic like never before. You and your loved one can experience traveling off the beaten path with a tailored safari complete with tour guide and eight wagging tales. For the particularly adventurous sort, step up to the chance to be a musher and control your own team of dogs across the Lappish countryside.</span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><strong><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">REINDEER RIDE</span></strong><br />
<span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Gliding through a snowy forest in a wooden sleigh together – what could be more romantic? Rides usually last from 10 minutes to a few hours. Speeds stay moderate, which makes them suitable for all ages.</span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><strong><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">SAUNA</span></strong><br />
<span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">The most important thing is to relax, socialise, have a couple of drinks and enjoy the blissful post-sauna feeling of having cleaned both your body and your mind.</span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><strong><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">ICE SWIMMING</span></strong><br />
<span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">It might sound shocking but take the plunge together. Quite simply, the secret of dipping into icy water lies in the feeling that surges through your body once you get out of the water. As soon as you’re back on dry land your circulation kicks in and your body starts to warm up.</span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><strong><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">RELAX</span></strong><br />
<span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">After running around in the snow all day long, you can cozy back indoors. There is nothing like sitting by the fireplace together with a cup of hot chocolate, enjoying the magical winter scenery.</span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><strong><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">NATIONAL PARKS</span></strong><br />
<span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">For many Finnish couples, escaping to nature is the perfect way to relax and celebrate their new life together. Snowshoeing is a great way to experience Finland’s wintry wildernesses, enjoy the fresh and clean air and get some exercise. Join a guided hike in one of our national parks or do a little adventure on your own, just the two of you.</span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><strong><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">SNOWMOBILE</span></strong><br />
<span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Driving through a silvery forest on a beast of a machine gives a rush that gets people hooked. The best way to get into snowmobiling is to take a guided tour. If heading out unguided, make sure you’re familiar with the route and can properly handle your vehicle.</span></p>

			<p style="text-align: justify;"><strong><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">LAPLAND</span></strong><br />
<span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">The northern most part of Finland, Lapland, is the magical arctic region full of contrasts. In fact, contrasts are a key factor in the allure of Lapland where 24-hour sunlight in the summer replaces the dark winter days filled with Northern Lights.</span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Every season in Finnish Lapland is uniquely different from each other. The inhabitants of the region say that Lapland actually has 8 seasons instead of 4. In the wintertime, Lapland is as close as reality gets to those who dream of a winter wonderland. Spring brings along light that follows the long season of ‘kaamos’ (arctic night in Finnish). During the spring time, the snow covered hills and fells offer exciting experiences for all winter outdoors enthusiasts from skiiers to snowshoe walkers.</span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Summer in Lapland is a season like no other – there are endless white nights and peaceful arctic nature as far as the eye can see. Summer’s glow is followed by the majestic season of fall when Lapland gets its truly iconic ‘ruska’ colors. This is the best season to go for a hike in one of Lapland’s many national parks. It is meditation and mindfullness all wrapped in one in one of the world’s most unique and breath-taking sceneries. And don’t forget the best and purest air and water this planet has to offer.</span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">After you have recharged in nature, Lapland also offers other interesting places to visit. Meet Santa Claus in Rovaniemi, try one (or two!) of Lapland’s great restaurants, visit a reindeer or a husky farm, venture out to a quirky festival or go look for gold.</span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Finnish Lapland is all this and more.</span></p>

<span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Finland has over 188,000 lakes and around 180,000 islands, many located in the Lakeland district, the largest in Europe. Finnish Lakeland is a blue labyrinth of lakes, islands, rivers and canals, interspersed with forests and ridges, stretching for hundreds of kilometres in a placid and staggeringly beautiful expanse.</span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">There is no scenery more Finnish than a summer cottage by the lake surrounded by emerald green forest. In fact, over 90% of Finland is covered in either forest or water. But it’s about much more than just an iconic view. Nature is a huge part our identity, and a significant source of wellbeing for millions of Finns. It is also something we treasure: Finland has the cleanest water in the world.</span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">The best way to experience Lakeland and to slow down is to try the iconic Finnish triad of cottage, sauna and water. Swim, hop on a steam boat, try a SUP board and simply admire the view. Relaxation is guaranteed.</span></p>

When you look at a map, Helsinki is in the northernmost corner of the Europe but it is an easy hub to reach with fast flight connections from East to West. No flight? No problem. Helsinki can be reached from St. Petersburg, Estonia and Sweden via the Baltic Sea. In fact, the sea is one of the most characterizing elements of the city. The Helsinki Archipelago consists of over 300 mesmerizing islands.</span></p>

			<p style="text-align: justify;"><strong><span style="font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14px;">SUMMER</span></strong><br />
<span style="font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14px;">Because of the long, cold winter Finns celebrate their summer very passionately. Some go to music festivals, offering a choice of jazz, blues, rock, opera and chamber music. Others are sailing among the coastal islands or enjoying slow life at their summer cottages – swimming, fishing and cooking dinner on the grill. For three brief – but oh, so sweet! – months, the temperatures soar high and the sun does not set at all.</span></p>

<div class="vc_empty_space height_small" style="height: 0px"><span class="vc_empty_space_inner"></span></div><div class="vc_do_toggle vc_toggle vc_toggle_default vc_toggle_color_default vc_toggle_size_md"><div class="vc_toggle_title"><h4>Read More</h4><i class="vc_toggle_icon"></i></div><div class="vc_toggle_content"><p style="text-align: justify;"><strong><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">ENDLESS SUMMER DAYS AND WHITE NIGHTS</span></strong><br />
<span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">The summer isn’t endless in Finland, but there are almost endless summer days and white nights.</span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">In Finnish Lapland a single summer day lasts for over two months. In the southern parts of the country it is never really dark either, just a period of twilight for a few hours. This is why we call Finland the Land of the Midnight Sun.</span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><strong><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">STEP OUTSIDE</span></strong><br />
<span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">On a fine summer day, Finns have an overwhelming urge to get outside and get out of town. From the beautiful coastal islands to the ever-present forests and lakes everywhere and anywhere in the country, the nature is always nearby, even with the largest of cities. Some, of course, still stay in the city and enjoy slow city life under the sun.</span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">When in the city Finns enjoy their months of sunshine (and a glass of cider) on the sidewalk and park terraces around town. Market places of all sort are another attraction. The signs are small at first – the marketplaces feature strawberries or peas eaten fresh – but by midsummer the Nordic nation has definitely defrosted.</span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><strong><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">MIDSUMMER</span></strong><br />
<span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Midsummer is a main national holiday in Finland. Originally a celebration of the summer solstice, it is typically spent with friends and family at a summer cottage away from the city, either partying or relaxing.</span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Midsummer is often seen as the beginning of warm summer weather and many Finns start their summer holidays on Midsummer Eve. Taking place at the end of June, longest day of the year is a key element in the festivities in the northern parts of Finland.</span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><strong><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">STAY UP ALL NIGHT</span></strong><br />
<span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">When nights are almost as light as day it is possible to do all the same things that you would do in the daytime – the greatest difference comes from the incredible change in the nature of the light… It takes on a reddish-yellow color – almost like during sunrise or sunset – and everything around you is bathed in an unimaginably warm, bright light.</span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Getting out of a dark nightclub at 3 a.m. can be a bit confusing, as it feels more like 3 p.m. You wouldn’t be the first to swap sleep for an after-party on the beach – in full sunlight, of course.</span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><strong><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">FESTIVALS</span></strong><br />
<span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Finland is one of the best places in Europe to go to festivals. From numerous rock, jazz, opera and folk festivals to chamber music and theatre events, there is always a party going on. Of course, you already know the sun never sets…</span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">From large-scale rock festivals to small local happenings, you’ll find something going on more or less every day throughout the Finnish summer. The largest festivals have been around for decades and cater for all tastes in the popular music category, gathering tens of thousands of people.</span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><strong><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">COTTAGE LIFE</span></strong><br />
<span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Escaping to the countryside or wilderness is a national way of relaxation. Easy-going parties with friends and family remind us what life really is about – having a good time with the most important people in your life.</span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Often situated by water, cabins and cottages are an essential element in Finnish life, providing a physical and mental getaway from the daily grind. Forgetting the everyday worries is inevitable in retreats amid the country’s greatest resource: its rugged natural beauty.</span></p>

			<p style="text-align: justify;"><strong><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">AUTUMN</span></strong><br />
<span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Summer ends with an explosion of colour in the forests. This is the season known as ‘ruska’, when the autumnal reds, browns and yellows are especially beautiful on the fells of Lapland. September is also a popular time for trekking in northern Finland.</span></p>

		</div>

<div class="vc_empty_space height_small" style="height: 0px"><span class="vc_empty_space_inner"></span></div><div class="vc_do_toggle vc_toggle vc_toggle_default vc_toggle_color_default vc_toggle_size_md"><div class="vc_toggle_title"><h4>Read More</h4><i class="vc_toggle_icon"></i></div><div class="vc_toggle_content"><p style="text-align: justify;"><strong><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">IT’S TIME FOR ‘RUSKA’</span></strong><br />
<span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">While Finns are going back to work, recalling the summer and planning for the next one, others are still finding their way here, to spend a different kind of holiday. Autumn is a time of silence. A time to step back and calm down. It is a time for hiking in clean, crisp air and colorful surroundings. Waiting for the winter to arrive.</span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Autumn leaf colour, or “ruska” to locals, is a spectacular natural phenomenon that paints northern landscapes in deep and soft tones. Covered in forests and wildernesses, Finland is a prime destination for some serious leaf peeping.</span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><strong><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">BERRIES AND MUSHROOMS FROM FOREST</span></strong><br />
<span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">The woods are dotted with wild edible mushrooms, such as yellow chanterelles and brown porcini. Autumn is a heavenly time for people who like to gather their own food.</span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">The pièce de résistance regarding Finnish food products is the surprising fact that they are often completely free of charge and have grown in the wild. Everyman’s right in the country’s forests guarantees that you are allowed to pick almost anything your heart and mouth desires.</span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><strong><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">SEASON OF CHANGE</span></strong><br />
<span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Autumn is the time when Finns are taking their boats out of the water, putting their bicycles in the garage, and preparing to get out their skates and skis. It is the time between the two main seasons – summer and winter – but no less important.</span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Autumn leaf colour acts as a messenger of sorts; it bids a melancholic but sweet farewell to long summer days and serves as a reminder of the dark and cold winter days looming around the corner.</span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><strong><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">NORTHERN LIGHTS SEASON BEGINS</span></strong><br />
<span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Even though many people associate the Northern Lights with cold and snowy winter scenery, the most active seasons are actually autumn and spring when the earth’s orientation towards the sun maximises the probability of solar flares interacting with the planet’s magnetic field to generate this phenomenon.</span></p>

			<p style="text-align: justify;"><strong><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">WINTER</span></strong><br />
<span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">During January and February, there is almost always snow in northern and eastern Finland. Even if there’s little snow in Helsinki, there’s often up to a metre or more on the skiing slopes of Lapland. The snow season in northern Finland begins in November and lasts at least until May. In the inland regions of southern and central Finland, the first snow falls at the beginning of December and melts during late March and April.</span></p>

<span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">In Finland, nature’s most spectacular light show, the Aurora Borealis, can be viewed in a range of purpose-built spaces from glass igloos to luxury suites.</span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">The Northern Lights are visible on roughly 200 nights a year – or every other clear night – in Finnish Lapland. The more traditional ways to go Aurora spotting are snowshoeing, cross-country skiing or snowmobile and sled dog touring. If gazing at the dark sky in crispy winter air is not your thing, you can simply add comfort.</span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><strong><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">ON THE HUNT FOR THE NORTHERN LIGHTS</span></strong><br />
<span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">The Northern Lights dancing up above is such a powerful and unique natural phenomenon it changes lives down on Earth. Being one of the best places to spot the Aurorae, Finland has even received immigration because of them. Below are some tips for becoming a Northern Lights Hunter yourself.</span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><strong><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">SKIING UNDER THE SUN – OR THE MOON</span></strong><br />
<span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">During the long days of March and April in Lapland, you can ski or sleigh for 12 to 16 hours under a brilliant sun. The best skiing season in Lapland starts in February and lasts until May. If you’re looking for something more exotic, try skiing under magical moonlight during the darkest ‘kaamos’ days of December and January.</span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">You can go downhill or cross-country skiing, go on a dogsled or skimobile safari, or even indulge in some ice-skating or ice-fishing. The Finnish winter lasts half the year, so Finns have thought of plenty of activities to fill the time.</span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><strong><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">DRESS RIGHT FOR THE WEATHER</span></strong><br />
<span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Yes, it gets cold in Finland in the winter. But that’s no reason to stay indoors – just gear up right and make the most of the fresh white season.</span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Dress warmly and enjoy it. Even if the thermometer reads minus 20 centigrade, it doesn’t feel as cold as you might think. The dry continental climate here doesn’t feel as cold as the damp cold of central Europe. Finns are also used to this kind of weather, so everything runs smoothly and punctually.</span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><strong><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">TAKE AN ICY DIP</span></strong><br />
<span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Believe it or not, swimming in a hole in the ice really does you the world of good.</span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">The secret of plunging into icy water is in the feeling that surges through your body once you are back on dry land; your circulation kicks in and your body starts to warm up. While climbing into the water does require a certain amount of courage, the initial shock and momentary loss of feeling in your legs soon pass – and it is all worth it!</span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><strong><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">CHRISTMAS TIME AND SANTA CLAUS</span></strong><br />
<span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">White landscapes enshrouded in darkness, only lit by the stars in the sky and ice lanterns on driveways set the mood for a soothingly cosy festive season…</span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Everyone knows Santa Claus comes from Finland, but there’s lot more to a traditional Finnish Christmas. During the festive season, Finns like to take things slow and enjoy the company of loved ones.</span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><strong><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">IN SNOWY HELSINKI</span></strong><br />
<span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">As the snow falls, the idyllic summer towns are replaced with something completely different, but equally alive with opportunities for a great time.</span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Once you get the hang of it, ice-skating is definitely one of the most thrilling ways to enjoy the cold. You can go for some of natural calm on the icy sea or skate in the middle of the city at the ice-skating rinks.</span></p>

			<p style="text-align: justify;"><strong><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">SPRING</span></strong><br />
<span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Summer is short in Finland and spring is even shorter. In southern Finland there is often snow on the ground at the beginning of April, with a few crocuses poking their heads through the bare patches. Of all the seasons, spring is definitely the most versatile depending which part of Finland you are visiting. In the North it is still possible to go skiing where as South is getting warmer and warmer.</span></p>

		</div>
	</div>
<div class="vc_empty_space height_small" style="height: 0px"><span class="vc_empty_space_inner"></span></div><div class="vc_do_toggle vc_toggle vc_toggle_default vc_toggle_color_default vc_toggle_size_md"><div class="vc_toggle_title"><h4>Read More</h4><i class="vc_toggle_icon"></i></div><div class="vc_toggle_content"><p style="text-align: justify;"><strong><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">NATURE COMES ALIVE</span></strong><br />
<span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">May in the southern parts of Finland is when everything is growing so fast you can almost see the grass growing and the leaves bursting forth.</span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Spring is the time when nature (and Finns!) come alive after the long winter. Ice melting and birds singing – these are the sounds of Finnish spring.</span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><strong><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">FESTIVE SEASON</span></strong><br />
<span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">When the temperature starts to rise and the days get longer and longer (even it might have seemed they never would) Finns want to celebrate the new season and the promise of those long-awaited summer days.</span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Spring is time of rebirth and celebration. It is the time of Easter, and May the 1st – Vappu – a time of frenzied celebrations across the country. Be forewarned: this is not a day when Finns are their usual sober and hardworking selves. This is the time to celebrate!</span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><strong><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">HIDING PLACE</span></strong><br />
<span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">If you prefer peace and quiet, this is a good time to rent a cottage. The forests are carpeted with anemones and other wildflowers. Spring rain and sunshine pass quickly over the lakes. The water is still cold, but if you are brave, hot and steaming from the sauna, then you might fancy taking a quick dip.</span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Spending those bright spring days in a cottage near water can be just as lovely as doing it in the summer-time. Coastal Finland has many cabins and cottages for rent throughout the year.</span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><strong><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">SEASON OF CONTRASTS</span></strong><br />
<span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">In Lapland, spring means skiing in the sun well into the evening – whilst in Helsinki people are already preparing for summer, taking strolls in the parks filled with fresh grass and flowers.</span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Depending where in Finland you are located, spring can offer totally different experiences. In the South you can already loose the thick winter clothes and buy fresh flowers from the market – while in the North it is still possible to ski and snowboard under the bright spring sun.</span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><strong><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">BIRD WATCHING</span></strong><br />
<span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Winter slowly yields its grip and the sea is once more open. Soon the air will be full of the migrating birds returning north. Finland is a bird-watchers’ paradise.</span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Bird observation towers – found all around Finland – are perfect for spotting rare species and appreciating the beautiful landscape.</span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><strong><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">SHOPPING</span></strong><br />
<span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Whether you are shopping or just exploring, design gems and unique fashion can be found throughout the country.</span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">If you crave cool, the best place to start the perfect day in Helsinki is the Design District around Diana Park. Follow the black-and-white stickers and discover a hip neighbourhood of 200 trendy boutiques, galleries and eateries. It is a shopping heaven for design aficionados.</span></p>

			<p style="text-align: justify;"><strong><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Culture in Finland</span></strong><br />
<strong><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Cool, calm and unique – discover Finnish culture</span></strong></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Despite of our cool climate, Finnish people are warm, open and honest – even though they might tell you the exact opposite. Dry humor is in our nature.</span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Finnish people are most characterized by their love and close relationship to nature. It has traditionally been the source of livelihood but most importantly is it the place where we retreat to from the hussle and bustle of the modern world. Nature makes us happy, one of the happiest nations in the world. It has also been the source of inspiration for artists for centuries. Iconic landscapes, like Koli in Lakeland and Lake Tuusula near Helsinki, have given us some of the most meaningful pieces of art in Finnish history. Modern art and design also derive inspiration from nature, like some of the most iconic new architecture in Finland. Made of wood – naturally.</span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Sauna is also another unique feature of Finnish culture. Plain and simple: Finns love sauna. And you will find a sauna in every corner of the country, even in libraries and museums.</span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">The best way to experience Finnish culture is to become a part of it. Here, you won’t just stand and watch – you’re invited to join in!</span></p>

		</div>
	</div>
<div class="vc_empty_space height_small" style="height: 0px"><span class="vc_empty_space_inner"></span></div><div class="vc_do_toggle vc_toggle vc_toggle_default vc_toggle_color_default vc_toggle_size_md"><div class="vc_toggle_title"><h4>Read More</h4><i class="vc_toggle_icon"></i></div><div class="vc_toggle_content"><p style="text-align: justify;"><strong><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Finnish people</span></strong><br />
<span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">If you’ve ever met a Finn, chances are they’ve mentioned the reserved nature of their countrymen. Be not afraid – we’re not taciturn brutes. Finns are talkative and hospitable, but the myth of the withdrawn Finn is still alive and well inside Finland. And Finns, with their self-deprecating wit, will be the first to let foreigners in on it. An example of a traditional Finnish joke: “An introverted Finn looks at his shoes when talking to you; an extroverted Finn looks at your shoes”.</span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">In certain ways, Finns are a pretty peculiar people and we secretly enjoy conveying that image of ourselves, even if it weren’t always true. A Finn will tell tall tales with a straight face, giggle internally and go on until stories just get too much for anyone to believe. Joking with someone (or even at someone’s cost!) is a Finnish way of saying “I like you”. Finns are sociable and warm, but have a mischievous way of showing it. But once you get to know a Finn, you’ll be friends for life.</span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><strong><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Finnish art, design and architecture</span></strong><br />
<span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Art, design and architecture from Finland are making waves internationally. Old masters, like our most famous architect Alvar Aalto, and new trailblazers from fashion to furniture design are putting Finland on the map. However, our culture scene is still a hidden gem. But there’s no need to hide. Finland has over 300 museums, some of the most interesting new architecture in Northern Europe and festivals from cool to quirky.</span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Helsinki is one of the most interesting Nordic architectural capitals at the moment with a boom of wooden architecture. The city’s newest icons, like the Oodi Library and the sauna Löyly, have been featured in publications the world over. You can find interesting wooden architecture elsewhere in the country as well, such as the historical wooden towns of the Coast and Archipelago.</span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Finland’s cultural landscape characterized by the long summer nights and dark winter days is a wonderful breeding ground for unique art. Enjoying art and culture in Finland means taking a trip deep into the folklore of our past, and forward into the country’s vision of a sustainable future. And beneath it all lies that most valuable of Finnish cultural treasures: peace and quiet.</span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><strong><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Events in Finland</span></strong><br />
<span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Finland is known for having some of the most unique – some might even say the craziest – events in the world. Our country is home to the world championships of wife-carrying and air guitar that draw participants and crowds from all over the world.</span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">But crazy isn’t all we do. We also have many international music festivals from Helsinki’s hipster favorite Flow to the chamber music festival in northeastern Kuhmo, jazz in Pori and semiacoustic music in a fell in Lapland’s Pyhä. Not to mention classical music. Finnish conductors lead some of the world’s most famous symphony orchestras, often featuring melodies from the famed Finnish composer Jean Sibelius. While in Finland, go for a concert in the famous Finlandia Hall, Helsinki Music Centre or Sibelius Hall in Lahti. Or go for modern dance at Kuopio International Dance Festival, opera at Savonlinna Opera Festival, heavy metal music at Tuska Festival in Helsinki or Sámi culture at Ijahis idja in Lapland.</span></p>

			<p style="text-align: justify;"><strong><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">OUTDOORS &amp; SPORTS</span></strong><br />
<strong><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Wild, spacious and free – discover the outdoors in Finland</span></strong><br />
<span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">To be truly free, all you need is the untouched wilderness and a touch of madness in your blood.</span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Finland, with tons of space and the cleanest air in the world, offers a wide range of outdoor activities for all tastes year round. Being a country of opposites and contrasts, you can truly enjoy your stay with all senses.</span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Our unique national parks are gate to the Finnish nature and each of them showcase the natural characteristics of the area they are located in. Archipelago dotted by islands and islets, virgin forests reaching quietly to the sky, lakes glimmering in a thousand shades of blue, and the wilderness of the Lapland fells. The national parks – some right next to biggest Finnish cities – provide great opportunities for training and recreational sports as well.</span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Finland is a natural choice when looking for active leisure holidays for families with children, exciting sports events, or school and student camps with sports activities. There is quite literally something for everybody – whether you’d like to walk in the wilderness along age old tracks, go for a mountain bike ride or just wonder around picking berries in the fall.</span></p>

<div class="vc_empty_space height_small" style="height: 0px"><span class="vc_empty_space_inner"></span></div><div class="vc_do_toggle vc_toggle vc_toggle_default vc_toggle_color_default vc_toggle_size_md"><div class="vc_toggle_title"><h4>Read More</h4><i class="vc_toggle_icon"></i></div><div class="vc_toggle_content"><p style="text-align: justify;"><strong><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Outdoor activities in Finland</span></strong><br />
<span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Finland is a diverse country with four regions and four seasons. This diversity in nature and weather conditions enables many different year-round and seasonal outdoor activities.</span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Summer is the perfect season to run, bike, golf and do all kinds of activities that the mild Finnish summers are perfect for. The summer temperatures rarely go above +30 degrees Celcius meaning that the climate is ideal for many kinds of actitivies and sports. Also, the summer days are very long, especially in the north, because of the nightless nights. Autumn is the time to go out into nature: try camping, go fishing and enjoy hiking. The autumn colors, called ‘ruska’ in Finnish, are at their peak typically in September and that’s when Finns flock to the outdoors.</span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Winter in the north of Finland, Lapland, starts usually in October-November and continues until the late spring. During this period Lapland, as well as the central part of Finland, Lakeland, has snow and the lakes freeze over. Due to the long snow season, Finland is a great winter – and spring! – destination for downhill skiers, snowboarders, ice skaters and cross-country skiers alike.</span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><strong><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Active and sports holidays</span></strong><br />
<span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Whether you want to spend your vacation enjoying the calm of the wilderness, or try a hardcore sports holiday, it is possible in Finland. Ski, bike, run, hike – it’s all here.</span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">There are many great reasons to exercise. You might have a competitive spirit or are trying to find your own limits. Maybe it’s fitness and keeping yourself in shape. Perhaps you might simply want to blow off some steam and have fun with your family or a group of like-minded friends. Most Finns stay active for a simple reason: sports and exercise promote health and wellbeing. It’s as simple as that. That’s why Finland has a great selection of outdoor and indoor activities and facilities to try. We have 40 well-maintained national parks, over 60 ski resorts from Lapland to southern Finland, more than a 100 000 lakes to SUP, kayak or canoe in during the summer – and the list goes on.</span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Our ski and sports resorts and institutes – including multiple Olympic Training Centres – serve both professionals and recreational sports enthusiasts in sports education and leisure activities all year round.</span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><strong><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">International sports events</span></strong><br />
<span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Finland hosts a number of international sports events every year, including cross-country and downhill skiing, marathons, and ultra running events for professional and recreational runners. Finnish events usually drum to a beat of their own – they can be quirky but they are always well-organized. Did you know that in Finland you can actually try a marathon even during the winter? No need to worry about the heat waves.</span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">If you’ve been to all the biggest sports events in the world, why not step off the beaten path and try a unique and exotic event in the north instead? We promise there will clean air, lots of arctic nature, kind people and new experiences. After the event is done, try a Finnish sauna and hop into a lake – recovery is guaranteed. Finland is also a great destination for kids so bring your whole family along and make it a full on holiday!</span></p>

			<p style="text-align: justify;"><strong><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">FOOD</span></strong><br />
<strong><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Cool, clean and creative – discover Finland’s food culture</span></strong><br />
<span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Finns appreciate simplicity and honesty in all things. Food included.</span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Finnish cuisine is not yet a household name but along its Scandinavian counterparts, it’s making a splash. Everything starts with pure ingredients from nature, and less is usually more. When it comes to ingredients and recipes, each Finnish region has its own delicious character and deep-rooted traditions. Finland is where east meets west – in the north.</span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">We as Finns are passionate about our food and are keen to celebrate it. We are fiercely loyal to our culinary roots and proud of our local traditions. Best of all, we have started to appreciate local produce and traditions more and more. Finnish modesty has taken a back seat while a healthy pride for our cuisine has emerged.</span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">From Michelin-awarded restaurants and local breweries to cozy home cooking – let’s take a gastronomic journey through Finland.</span></p>

		</div>
	</div>
<div class="vc_empty_space height_small" style="height: 0px"><span class="vc_empty_space_inner"></span></div><div class="vc_do_toggle vc_toggle vc_toggle_default vc_toggle_color_default vc_toggle_size_md"><div class="vc_toggle_title"><h4>Read More</h4><i class="vc_toggle_icon"></i></div><div class="vc_toggle_content"><p style="text-align: justify;"><strong><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Finnish food is pure</span></strong><br />
<span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Due to our northern location, Finland is a haven of clean and naturally nutrient-rich foods. The long summer days and cool temperatures enhance the aromas and pigments in wild berries, mushrooms and herbs. These wild delicacies grow in clean, Nordic soil with clean air and clean water. Some of the cleanest in the world, actually.</span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Come summer and autumn, Finns scour their vast forests and fields for these delicious treasures. You can also find these treats in the menus of restaurants across the country. For a true taste of the Finnish nature, try fresh summer potatoes, jam made of cloudberries – also known as the ‘gold of the Arctic’ – lingonberry juice, or even spruce sprout powder in your morning yogurt. Spruce sprouts have more vitamin C than oranges!</span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><strong><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Finnish food is innovative</span></strong><br />
<span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Innovative use of natural ingredients and a laid-back atmosphere are what our food culture and cuisine are all about. It’s a humble but ambitious no-frills attitude towards some of the best and cleanest ingredients in the world. Our long winters and intense growing seasons in the summer ensure that flavors and colors are plentiful.</span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">At the moment, Finland has one of the most vibrant food scenes in Europe. Restaurants ranging from Michelin-awarded fine dining establishments to more traditional spots dot the Finnish landscape like mushrooms after a September rain. And new ones keep popping up. We also have a number of food events and festivals, just waiting for your visit.</span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Foodies ahoy – don’t miss Finland!</span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><strong><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Finnish food is authentically local</span></strong><br />
<span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Although you can buy just about anything your heart desires in Finland these days, go native the next time you are here, and you will be in for a treat. Try a local market place, ‘tori’ in Finnish, during June, July and August and you’ll find a world of treats you never knew existed – and probably the sweetest strawberries and peas in the world. Or venture out to a forest in the fall and pick berries and mushrooms straight from nature. It is allowed due to Everyman’s Rights, ‘Jokamiehen oikeudet’. Do bring a guide (book) with you to make sure you’re picking the best stuff. And always leave nature as you found it, pure and clean.</span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">When you are out and about in Finland, we suggest trying local delicacies of the different regions. Rye bread, Karelian pie (‘karjalanpiirakka’ in Finnish), reindeer stew, bread cheese, cinnamon bun, and Åland pancakes are some of the all-time classics.</span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Finns love to preserve food for the winter months by freezing, drying and fermenting different ingredients. Preserving food is an age-old tradition, which makes it possible to eat locally all year-round. You might also find these preserved little treasures in restaurants. Don’t hesitate to try them!</span></p>

			<p style="text-align: justify;"><strong><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">LUXURY IN FINLAND</span></strong><br />
<strong><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Pure and simple – luxury in Finland</span></strong><br />
<span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">In Finland we interpret the word “luxury” a bit differently than you may be used to. Instead of lavishness and glitter we offer a chance to slow down, to breathe and to connect with one another. It’s affordable but at the same time something money can’t buy.</span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Above all, Finns appreciate high quality and unforgettable experiences. You can easily find them all over the country year-round.</span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Finland is perhaps most well-known for extraordinary accommodation, and the sense of calm is the essence in all Finnish luxury getaways. For those looking for unique travel experiences, all-around high quality service combined with great comfort, as well as the choice between solitude and urban encounters, Finland is an excellent option for a luxurious get-away.</span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">For most visitors to our land of a thousand lakes, however, the pure Finnish air, and the unspoiled nature represent the greatest luxury of all.</span></p>

		</div>
	</div>
<div class="vc_empty_space height_small" style="height: 0px"><span class="vc_empty_space_inner"></span></div><div class="vc_do_toggle vc_toggle vc_toggle_default vc_toggle_color_default vc_toggle_size_md"><div class="vc_toggle_title"><h4>Read More</h4><i class="vc_toggle_icon"></i></div><div class="vc_toggle_content"><p style="text-align: justify;"><strong><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Finnish luxury is pure nature and space</span></strong><br />
<span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">The biggest and most affordable luxuries in Finland are pure nature and space. We have the cleanest air in the world, blue skies and clear waters, cool Nordic climate – and space to breathe. Finland only has about 5,5 million inhabitants spread across nearly 340 000 square kilometers. That’s only 19 (lovely) people per km².</span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">In a world-wide study, Finland was among the countries that have the best air quality in the world. The air quality is good, even in the cities. Water, another important element for Finns, is also clean and you can drink tap water everywhere. You can also fill your own bottles with clean and refreshing spring water for free, as many locals do. Water means not only a comfortable and sustainable way of living, but also a mindful one. Some of the best moments can be silently experienced by the water, hearing only the voices of nature.</span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><strong><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Finnish luxury is extraordinary accommodation</span></strong><br />
<span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Those looking for unique, or even unusual accommodation, look no further. Glass igloos, aurora domes, high-end cottages, snow castles and lighthouses – even an old prison turned into a boutique hotel. One of Finland’s most unique and internationally acclaimed features is the selection of truly special accommodation across the country.</span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Doze off under the Northern lights or the midnight sun, in Finland you can. Quite literally!</span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><strong><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Finnish luxury is once-in-a-lifetime activities</span></strong><br />
<strong><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">What’s on your bucket list?</span></strong></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Perhaps a cozy husky ride in a snowy winter wonderland? Spotting a glimpse of the rare Saimaa ringed seal on a lake cruise? Driving on an icy track in a super-fast race car in Lapland? Silently sailing past islands as far as the eye can see in the Finnish archipelago? Or maybe enjoying a round of golf in a cool and fresh summer night filled with endless light?</span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Get that list out and head to Finland! These activities and many more await.</span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><strong><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Finnish luxury is exquisite, clean Nordic food</span></strong><br />
<span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Finnish cuisine is not yet a household name but along its Scandinavien counterparts, it’s making a splash. Everything starts with pure ingredients from nature, and less is usually more. When it comes to ingredients and recipes, each Finnish region has its own delicious character and deep-rooted traditions. Finland is where East meets West – in the north. Finland is a haven of clean and naturally nutrient-rich foods. The long, intense summer days and cool temperatures enhance the aromas and pigments in our wild, organic food.</span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Helsinki, the capital of Finland, is the home to many Michelin-starred restaurants and the new foodie destination for all those looking for something off-the-beaten-track.</span></p>

<span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">The traditions of Finnish lifestyle go back hundreds of years. In the rush and crush of modern life, the rarities are what we value most, such as space, quiet and time. The space to breathe, a time to dream, hiking in summer, cross-country skiing in winter, or simply a gentle walk in the woods. One could even say that Finnish people knew mindfulness and slow travel before they became global megatrends. Finns often flock to their countryside cottages, whether it be summer or winter, and the simple step of heating the sauna is the beginning of a perfect (digital) detox.</span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Walking in Finnish nature not only refreshes and relaxes the brain, but also frees the spirit. Spending time in the forest regularly is proven to lower blood pressure, detox your body and improve your overall mood. Try forest bathing with a guide – or how about forest yoga? Another great way to gently enjoy the outdoors is to go Nordic walking. Yes, grab those poles and head out to nature. It’s good for you!</span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><strong><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Finnish wellbeing comes from sauna</span></strong><br />
<span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">If you want to understand Finland and its people, getting familiar with sauna is a good starting point. Sauna is such a big part of Finnish culture it can’t be compared to anything else. For centuries, it has been a place for physical and spiritual cleansing. Sauna is a way of life in Finland – toddlers take their first turns in sauna at only a few months old, and from then on, never stop.</span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">For visitors, going into a Finnish sauna may seem intimidating at first. What’s the dress code? How hot is it? What do you do in the sauna? There’s no need to worry – Finns are easy-going when is comes to this age-old tradition. In fact, getting invited to a sauna is an honor in Finland and sauna is good for everyone. The most important thing is to relax, socialize, have a couple of drinks and enjoy the blissful post-sauna feeling of having cleaned both your body and your mind.</span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><strong><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Finnish wellbeing comes from tradition</span></strong><br />
<span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Sauna, cottage life and spending time in nature – these are some of the Finnish wellbeing traditions that run deep in our heritage. In fact, Finnish culture is a mix of extremes, like East and West, modern and traditional, high-tech and logged off (no technology in the sauna!). These positive extremes are also visible in the Finnish nature: winter and summer, dark and light, warm and cold.</span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Each Finnish region has its own unique history and traditions, but the close relationship to nature is what connects it all. Sauna infused by refreshing herbs, pure and clean Arctic food, fresh fish, local berries and mushrooms as superfoods, and traditional treatments are ways in which Finns themselves relax – and we recommend you should as well.</span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><strong><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Finnish wellbeing comes from food</span></strong><br />
<span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Finland is a country of long, white winters and short, but oh-so-sweet summers. The white summer nights ripen vegetables, fruits and berries making them uniquely tasty. Even though Finnish berries and fruits are smaller than average, they are packed with sweet flavours, healthy vitamins and flavonoids. Finns scour the vast forests for these delicious treasures, as well as the tasty mushrooms and fresh wild herbs.</span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">The pièce de résistance regarding Finnish food products is the surprising fact that they are often completely free of charge and have grown in the wild. Everyman’s rights in the country’s forests guarantees that you are allowed to pick almost anything your heart and mouth desires. Some of the ‘must-taste’ items in Finland include antioxidant rich bilberries, mineral filled mushrooms, vitamin E bursting lingonberries, exotic cloudberries, as well as fresh summer potatoes and local fish.</span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">To name only a few.</span></p>
