Guadarun is a six-stage race. Each stage is around 16 miles. Beginners and professional runners are welcome but classified separately. To be a good « Guadarunner », you need to have a good sense of orientation, good endurance and excellent resistance to the heat! Each stage is a pleasure for the eyes and offers a different scenario: Beaches, Rain forest or valleys…

Ultra Light
If you think you know Guadeloupe Islands from all angles, you are wrong unless you flew over the archipelago onboard an Ultra Light! At the departure of Saint François private airport with Gaetan as your instructor, discover breathtaking landscapes like Pointe des Châteaux, Petite Terre Natural Reserve or the Lagoon! Grande Terre will have no more secrets for you after this magnificent journey!

Volcano Trail
The Raid of Guadeloupe is one of the most technical trail circuits. The extremely diverse natural environment makes the specificity of the Guadeloupe Volcano Trail. With 3 different circuits for 3 different levels and 750 riders, you can count on the 200 Volunteers and hiking clubs members, and of course on the Guadeloupe Islands Authorities to assist and secure the passage of the participants.

It is open to all Trailers and anyone accustomed to difficult hiking trail sports. Departure is at 5am in the town hall square St. Claude in Basse-Terre. First finishers are expected around 10am. The usually sleepy city of Saint Claude will be the center of Basse-Terre with the Volcano Train village gathering twenty exhibitors offering activities for children, musical and cultural events and many prizes to win!

The Volcano Train is usually during the second week of June.

The mud baths at Babin beach in Vieux-Bourg (Morne-à-l’eau, Grande Terre) are reputed to provide relief from rheumatism, and to make a particularly soft skin. The clay, with its sulphur smell, has therapeutic properties that can relieve osteoarthritis, joint problems as well as skin problems. The mud baths of Vieux Bourg are visited by families and friends, and are enjoyed by people of all ages.

Sulphurous Bath Of Sofaïa
Located in Sainte-Rose, the sulfur baths of Sofaïa are very valued by the Guadeloupeans. The water at 87.8°F features healing powers and treats rheumatism and skin diseases. They also will enjoy the spectacular view and they will make friends with the local iguanas!

Guadeloupe Zoo
Located in the middle of the National Park, Parc des Mamelles is dedicated to the conservation of the rainforest and of different endangered species. A true Noah’s ark of modern times, it shelters 85 species originating from the Caribbean and Guyana: mammals, birds, reptiles and arthropods. Your children will have the chance to meet Victor the Jaguar, and they will discover Kaz a Tarzan, a network of bridges, slides and secret passage ways! The only problem is that you will have a hard time to convince them to leave…

Sainte-Anne Beach

Grande-Anse

Malendure Beach
If you love snorkeling, diving or kayaking you have to go at Malendure Beach! Located in Bouillante (Basse-Terre Island), its sand is composed of volcanic minerals which give it this unique black color. There, you can take a glass-bottomed boat to admire the protected marine life of Cousteau’s Reserve, rent a kayak to go to the Pigeon Islet, snorkel or have your first scuba dive.

Salines Beach
Salines beach is one of those places where you can forget everything and just chill on the sand. With its crystal blue and calm waters, it is definitely the place to relax after climbing La Pointe Des Chateaux. You will find beautiful handcrafted souvenirs, coconut sorbet, “snowballs” as well as local pineapple and coconut cakes nearby.

Sainte-Anne Beach
Sainte-Anne beach is probably the most popular in The Guadeloupe Islands. It is a family-friendly beach with shallow and calm water. This is also the best beach for foodies who will love discovering the local market nearby the beach, trying caribbean meals at the different restaurants and of course taste the famous local ice-creams and sorbet by Fabienne Youyoute!

Anse Du Souffleur Beach
Located in Port-Louis (Grande-Terre Island), Anse du Souffleur beach is a real pace of heaven. White sand, crystal clear waters, calm and shallow sea… It is the perfect place for a family afternoon! And if you’re hungry after your swim,you can take a Bokit (a tasty local sandwich) and a delicious coconut sorbet at one of the food trucks located on the beach.

Datcha Beach
Located in Gosier, Datcha Beach is very popular and lively. With your family, friends or alone, you can quietly bask under a coconut tree. Nearby you will find very good restaurants and vendors of « snowballs » and « Sorbet coco ». At nightfall, you can still enjoy the beach as it is illuminated up to midnight! From the beach you can see Gosier Islet, a inhabitated islet that you can discover with a sea shuttle. Spend the day on the islet. Between bathe and snorkeling you could lunch in the only restaurant on a islet in Guadeloupe Islands : Ti Robinson Restaurant.

Caret Islet
Ilet Caret is a white sand islet surrounded by transparent turquoise waters. Located in le Grand-Cul de Sac Marin Natural Reserve, it is home to many different species and one of the most wonderful islets of the archipelago. Rent a boat in Pointe-à-Pitre and go for a trip! After crossing the amazing mangrove swamp, you will be able to spot this little paradise not far away. If you are lucky enough you might end up being by yourself! Massacre Beach
Massacre beach is located in Vieux Fort North of Saint Louis. It is a pristine white Sand beach that you will have for yourself! It is also a great snorkeling spot. The little plus is that on the other side of the beach you have access to the preserved mangrove swamp of Marie Galante! Right there you have the possibility to discover the mangrove in paddleboats and spot some turtles!

Pain De Sucre Beach
Within his idyllic settings with fine sand and emerald waters, Pain de Sucre Beach (Sugarloaf beach) was named after his Rio de Janeiro big cousin and is the most romantic beach in Les Saintes. Hidden behind his rocky path, this beach is Terre de Haut little secret…

Petite Terre Islet
A little paradise composed of two islets. Petite-Terre is a savage archipelago protected by ONF. His coral reef protects the site. There are many marine species and iguanas. Very few people can go at the same time since is it regulated by law. This beach is very quiet and a true gem. And if you like diving, the surreal protected lagoon offers beautiful tropical fishes and sponges. DIVINE!

Hiking Trails
With over 110 miles of hiking trails spread all over the archipelago, the Guadeloupe Islands can easily be explored on foot! One of the most scenic hike is La Soufriere, a gently active volcano, reaching 4800 ft! Start your climb at the famous hot spring “Les Bains Jaunes”, and make your way through the rainforest by taking the trail “Le Pas du Roy” .

Once you have reached the bottom of the volcano, the path “Chemin des Dames” will take you all the way to the top. This hike will take you about 4h30, so if you are looking for a less athletic option, you can choose to take the trail “Maison de la Foret” and then follow the path “Saut d’Eau de Matouba”, this route should take you about 2h30.

Horseback Riding
Riding a horse is the perfect way to discover the archipelago while staying in harmony with nature! The Guadeloupe Islands offer many sites for horseback riding, among the best are: “Le Haras” in St Francois, the “ Domaine de Belle Plaine” and “Les Attelages du Comté” in Sainte Rose, and the “Ranch des Deux Ilets” in Deshaie.

The Guadeloupe Islands are bound together by a rich ethnic diversity that characterizes their folklore, language, music and beliefs. Black Heritage History
Guadeloupe is not only gorgeous beaches, waterfalls and nightlife and all but also a rich Black History destination where one can learn about our heros, our history and our strong connection with our African heritage, foundation of our tradition.

The Slaves Steps and Prison Cell
This monumental stairway of 54 dressed-stone steps led to the esplanade where slaves were sold directly off the boat. Plaques on the steps display the names of various African ethnicities: Yoruba (southwestern Nigeria, Togo, Benin), Congolese (from the former kingdom at the mouth of the Congo River), Ibo (southeastern Nigeria), Wolof (Nigeria, Senegal, and Congo), Fula (west Africa), and Bamileke (western Cameroon). At the foot of the stairs stands a bust of Louis Delgrès, who fought to the death against the reinstation of slavery in 1802.

Fort Louis Delgrès
Built in the 17th century, the Fort Delgrès was initially made to defend the harbor of Basse-Terre against the English attacks. It was renamed in 1989 as a tribute to Louis Delgrès, one of the Guadeloupe Islands’ major figures for the abolition of slavery.

Memorial ACTe Museum
Located in Pointe a Pitre, precisely on the Darboussier site, which used to be a sugar factory, the Memorial ACTe Museum is a cultural center dedicated to the Memory and History of Slavery Trade. It is part of UNESCO’s Slave Route Project, a global initiative to promote the rapprochement of peoples through the shared legacy of this tragedy.

La Grivelière `Coffee Plantation`
Deep inside the valley, dive into the heart of tradition. From stone to stone, discover building constructed through the ages, lulled by the clear waters of the beautiful rivers of Vieux-Habitants and let you ennivrer by bonifieur coffee , on the field of Habitation La Grivelière “House Coffee”. “L’Habitation” will stir up your taste buds with its excellent host table and intoxicating coffee flavors.

Bologne Rum Distillery
The Bologne distillery is located in Basse-Terre. This old sugar factory of the 17th century was owned by the Bologne family (Chevalier St Georges’ father). The distillery was then acquired by Amé-Noël in 1845, former privateer and first black free man owner of a major plantation. But it is in XIX century that the Sargenton-Callard family, then owners of factory, decided to turn the sugar factory into a rum distillery.
