The Trollaskagi peninsula located in northern Iceland between the fjords of Eyjafjordur and Skagafjordur. The peninsula is mountainous, with several peaks reaching over 1,000 meters (3,280 feet) above sea level, the tallest being Kerling. The heat caused steam eruptions, which resulted in their crater-like shape. As they were not the sources of lava, or volcanoes in themselves, they are not considered true craters.

The Hverir Mud Pools are in an area of hot springs in northern Iceland. Hverir translates in Icelandic to a basic meaning of anything hot springs. It is located just east of the Myvatn lake, where you will see many smoking fumaroles and boiling mud pots, surrounded by sulfur crystals of many different colors.
