Barbados is an eastern Caribbean island and an independent British Commonwealth nation. Bridgetown, the capital, is a cruise-ship port with colonial buildings and Nidhe Israel, a synagogue founded in 1654. Around the island are beaches, botanical gardens, the Harrison’s Cave formation, and 17th-century plantation houses like St. Nicholas Abbey. Itinerary

Day 01: Bridgetown – St. James
Arrive Bridgetown meet and an assistant at the airport drive to St.James and transfer to hotel.

Day 02: St. James
After breakfast Enjoy a private walking tour through historic Bridgetown, a UNESCO World Heritage City. Learn all about the history of this bustling capital’s commerce and trade. Your guide will lead you through the winding streets of this lively city, detailing how Bridgetown became the most important -and wealthiest – port in the Western Hemisphere between the 18th and 19th Centuries. En-route, visit Heroes Square to see the statue of Lord Nelson and the Parliament Buildings. Continue to the Jewish Synagogue, a center for rabbinical scholarships and home to some of the oldest known Jewish tombstones in the New World. Stop by St. Mary’s Church to discover its chapel, located on one of the oldest consecrated grounds in the Western Hemisphere. The chapel once served as the official burial ground for Bridgetown’s elite.

Afterward, enjoy duty-free shopping in town later transfers you back to your hotel. Enjoy a rotating five-night menu with the very best that Executive Chef offer. Day 03: St. James
After breakfast Discover the hidden gems of Barbados on an incredible half-day tour led by a knowledgeable local guide. Experience the beauty of Harrison’s Cave via a comfortable tram ride to admire the majestic underground scenery. The cave features hanging stalactites and stalagmites stretching from the ground towards the ceiling. Experience the tranquil atmosphere as streams of crystal-clear waterfalls flow into deep emerald pools. State-of-the-art lighting illuminates the cathedral-like caverns while your professional guide leads the way through this underground wonderland.

Next visit the Flower Forest Botanical Gardens, where the beauty of the islands flora and fauna can be experienced in its natural setting. Explore winding paths through a tropical forest, admiring a variety of vibrant colors in a floral paradise. Afternoon enjoy time at leisure to explore at your own pace relax at your hotel.

Day 04: St. James
After breakfast Set out with your private guide across the rich countryside towards the Island’s lush St. George valley to your first stop at Gun Hill Signal Station. Nestled in lush vegetation, and built in 1818, Gun Hill Signal Station is the first and one of the finest in the chain of signal stations. These stations sighted ships approaching Barbados and signaled to each other, advising of the type of vessel and whether it was a friend or foe! In case of attack, the forts and soldiers could be quickly readied to defend the island. In the signal tower a chart shows just what detailed information could be relayed with the use of a few flags.

The signal stations were also used to warn of rebellions on the island. Today Gun Hill Signal Station is fully restored and beautifully landscaped. At 700 feet above sea level, this spot affords one of the most amazing views of the South Coast of the Island. Then you head to St. John’s Parish Church which offers a sweeping view of the East Coast from its high cliffside vantage point. This classic Gothic church was built to replace a previous structure, which had been destroyed by a hurricane in 1831. Some of the main features include the fact that the Churchyard contains the tomb of Ferdinando Paleologus (descendant of the last Byzantine Emperor), and the interior’s pulpit, which is carved out of 7 different types of wood.

Once you are back on the road, you will continue to travel through the countryside and on to your final stop at Sunbury Plantation Great House, considered to be one of the most stunning Great Houses in the Caribbean, for a tour and a sumptuous lunch. Built around 1660 by Matthew Chapman, an Irish/English planter, one of the first settlers on the island. He was related to the Earl of Carlisle and through this association, was granted lands in Barbados. Sunbury Plantation House is over 300 years old, steeped in history, featuring mahogany antiques, old prints, and a unique collection of horse-drawn carriages. This is the only great house with all rooms available for viewing. After lunch you will journey back to your hotel via the countryside.

Day 05: St. James
Situated on the beautiful sands of the West Coast, The hotel offers an ideal spot for a day at the beach. Soak in the sun’s warmth and listen to the sounds of the turquoise waves lapping the coastline. Enjoy a day of sunbathing on the beautiful West Coast, known for its crystal clear water and excellent swimming and snorkeling opportunities. When it’s time for lunch, Harold’s Beach Bar offers an ideal setting for a meal -and a signature drink – served with a side of incredible ocean views.

Day 06: St. James
After breakfast Set off with your private driver-guide and enjoy the beautiful panoramas en-route towards the parish of St. Peter. The grand entrance to this beautiful estate gives you an idea of what’s to come as you arrive at the historic site of St. Nicholas Abbey. First, enjoy a tour of St. Nicholas Abbey’s Great House, which is one of just three Jacobean mansions remaining in the Western Hemisphere. Beautifully restored and renovated, the Abbey boasts antique furnishings, a rum and sugar bond, a wind and steam mill, and some of the most splendid grounds nestled amid sugar cane fields.

This day promises exhilarating scents of brown sugar mixed with other aromas while you observe the process of making rum. The Master Distiller will walk you through the progression of rum production, from the crushing of the sugar cane to the blending. At the end your private tour, you’ll have bottled yourself a sealed brew, a unique souvenir to take. Your day concludes with a private transfer back to your hotel.

Itinerary

Day 01: Arrive Barbados
Arrive Barbados Meet and assist at Airport and transfer to Hotel.

You’re free to spend the evening as you please, why not hit the beach (the quickest a visitor has ever made it from his room to the beach is 45 seconds), have a drink by the pool or visit a local restaurant for a traditional Bajan Dinner.

Day 02: Barbados
Wake up, open the curtains and experience the definition of bliss as you look out from your ocean view balcony room onto the clear blue waters of the Caribbean. After a delicious breakfast, catch up at the morning briefing with your Guru. This is a great chance to meet some of the other people in the group and find out more about Barbados.

After the short briefing, you’ll take the 5 minute walk with your Guru to the paddle boarding centre to have your first taste of Barbados’ water-sports. Seeing the island from the ocean is like a glimpse of paradise, and keep your eyes open for the colorful sea life.

When you get back the day is yours to command. Why not take a ride on a jet ski or go into town for a hearty Bajan Lunch (one of the greatest West Indian curry shops is only a short distance away and is a definitive highlight.)

Day 03: Barbados
Today is the Ultimate photo opportunity for all of our guests regardless of what boat tour you will be on. We have two boats, The Jolly Roger (September Trips) and Jammin’ (October & November). After breakfast, you will be whisked away to experience either cruise.

Jammin is one of the newest recreational catamarans cruising the coastal waters of Barbados. This eye-catching 63-ft. craft has all the ingredients necessary for a fun day in the sun! The Jammin’ crew, with their dynamic personalities and friendly dispositions, ensure a truly extraordinary day on the water. Jammin provides buffet meals onboard and a well stocked bar. In the water activities include swimming with the turtles and snorkeling.

Let JOLLY ROGER 1 Pirate Ship take you back 300 years. Imagine a time when pirates roamed the Caribbean Seas on this pirate ship with the huge scarlet sail billowing with the skull and crossbones flag. By combining a scenic sailing cruise in crystal clear waters, with tropical sunshine & cooling Caribbean breezes, topped off with pulsating calypso music, cultural entertainment, great food and barrels of the captains ‘Pirate Rum Punch’ …you are guaranteed the best time on the high seas. Join the pirates for a enjoyable time snorkelling and swimming with the sea turtles, or just suntan on the top deck. For the adventurous, you can rope-swing from the boat or be blind-folded and be made to walk the plank.

Day 04: Barbados
Today is the day to see Barbados, You will be picked up in two 4×4’s for a private tour of the island with knowledgeable guides and Gurus pointing out the sights. This non-stop fun expedition takes in the most strikingly scenic parts of Barbados on a guided on and off-road island tour, including copious amounts of rum punch and a Bajan Buffet Lunch. Visit the Lion at Gun Hill, Edge Cliff, Bathsheba’s dramatic Atlantic breakers and rock formations, rugged terrain and exciting off-roading in Joe’s River Forest, Picturesque Cove Bay and Little Bay – a.k.a ‘window to the world’. Explore a small Rastafari community in the capital Bridgetown, purchase some hand crafted gifts for friends back home or just admire some of the street art on the side of their stores.

Once you get back to the hotel you have the rest of the day to spend relaxing on the beach or experience some of the many watersports the Hilton offers on its beach.

Day 05: Barbados
By now you’ll know that a person from Barbados is a Bajan (not a Barbadian!) and for your 5th day in paradise, WWAY have created an exclusive Bajan Day Out just for you and your group. After breakfast and a morning soaking up the sun, you will taken to experience the Mount Gay Rum tour. This is a great chance to learn about Bajan culture and the world’s oldest rum. After a few tasters to get your taste buds in tune, you’ll be invited to take part in a cocktail making class where you can show off your mixology skills. After this, you’ll definitely be ready for lunch and the food at Mount Gay never disappoints.

After an afternoon’s rest, you’ll be ready for a night on the town like an authentic Bajan local. You’ll start the evening at Oistins Fish Fry which is the highlight of the entire island on a Friday night. Everyone comes together and enjoys a food market like no other – think the ultimate Bajan Street Food Festival. There’s drinking, there’s fabulous food and there’s lots of local music. What more could you ask for?

After supper, it’s time to move onto Harbour Lights, one of the best clubs on the island. A mix of locals and tourists create an unique atmosphere as you all party on the beach under the stars. And don’t forget, all alcoholic drinks are free when you’re in the club.

Day 06: Barbados

Enjoy what ever activities take your fancy – your Guru is standing by with advice to make one of your last days in Barbados truly unforgettable, options range from going to the world famous Cliff restaurant to shopping for presents, to just lying in a hammock overlooking the deep blue Caribbean sea.

Day 07: Barbados
Today, you have the chance to experience a Bajan Rum Shop. This Bajan pub is where the locals sit down with a bottle of rum and play dominoes deep into the evening. You’ll have the chance to enjoy some great local food while enjoying a huge selection of drinks. This truly Bajan experience sums up so much of WWAY’s philosophy – it’s all about friendship, community and having fun. Join in with a game or two, and enjoy a great afternoon surrounded by an amazing group of friends.
