El Salvador is the country with more volcanoes per square kilometers in the world.  This is because there are many volcanoes in a very small country, (20,000 square kilometers).  From San Salvador, we have access to visit beautiful volcanoes.

Itinerary

DAY 1:  Arrive El Salvador (By Flight) /El Salavdore -San Salvdore (By Road)
Arrival at El Salvador International Airport. Transfer to San Salvador hotel. Overnight in San Salvadore

DAY 2: San Salvadore-Boqueron-Alegria-Jiquilisco (By Road) (212 Km/ 4 hrs)
Today we will visit El Boquerón which is the name of the crater of San Salvador Volcano.  Locals say that it has this name since the crater resembles a big mouth (boqueron = Big Mouth). At approximately 1,700 meters above sea level, it provides a cool climate in between 15 – 23 ºC.  We will be able to walk to the edge of the crater and admire its beauty.

Then we will travel east to Alegría town and lagoon.  Alegría is a charming town located within mountains and volcanoes filled with coffee plantations.  Besides the town lies what many people call the Emerald of America; a sulfur lagoon at the crater of Tecapa Volcano.  We will have lunch at Alegría.  Then transfer to hotel in Jiquilisco Bay.

Jiquilisco Bay is a UNESCO Biosphere reserve (one of 14 in all Central America).  It is El Salvador´s largest and most important wetland and the largest mangrove estuarine system in Northern Mesoamerica, being composed of mangrove forests, estuaries, sand bars, beaches, 27 islands of varying size, fresh water lagoons and seasonally flooded forests. Its 637 square kilometers, represent a transit point to at least 87 species of migratory birds.  The coastal mangroves and estuaries help reduce the vulnerability of coastal communities and agricultural lands to natural disasters such as floods, helps stabilize the local climate, and serves as a nursery and refuge for a high diversity of ecological, economically and aesthetic importance. DAY 3: Jiquilisco Bay
Today we will enjoy a Monkeys and Sea Turtle tour.  Four species of sea turtles nest in El Salvador: Baule (leatherback turtle), Carey (hawksbill turtle), Golfina (olive ridley turtle) and Prieta (green turtle); all of them considered endangered species.  The tour in Jiquilisco Bay will focus on the Hawksbill, one of the most endangered species in the world.  For the Hawksbill, Jiquilisco Bay is the main nesting point on all the Eastern Pacific.

The times for the tour will depend based on the best time to experience the sea turtle tour.  For the monkey’s tour, we will walk through a forest until we reach their home. After calling their names, the monkeys come down the trees and interact with the visitors. This tour includes the lunch. For the sea turtles tour, we will get in a boat to the waters of Jiquilisco Bay.  Local administrators will provide a general presentation on sea turtles and will explain the process on how they are protecting them at Jiquilisco. Depending on the specific day conditions, we will visit the nursery or if desired by travelers, the tour may be done at night in order to spot sea turtles laying their eggs.
Return to hotel. Overnight  in Jiquilisco Bay.

DAY 4: Jiquilisco Bay
Free day for own activity. Overnight in Jiquilisco Bay.

DAY 5: Jiquilisco Bay-El Salvador (By Road)/Depart El Salvadore (By Road)
Transfer to airport for departure flight.

Day 02 San Salvador
Volcano Of San Salvador-Eco Park “Hawthorn”-Ciudad-Puerta Of The Devil.

We will make a pleasant walk of just 35 minutes in the Echo Park El Espino to enjoy the forest of the San Salvador volcano. The route is between beautiful coffee plantations in the months of November to January allow us to see the fruit of the coffee, the most traditional agricultural product of El Salvador. In addition, you’ll see “Infiernillos” place where there are emanations of hot steam from the volcano and we also delight with incredible views of the city, bird watching and wildlife.

Later we climb in vehicle to 1893msnm to learn about the National Park the Boqueroncito where it will look at the crater of the San Salvador volcano. We finish our tour in the volcano leading us also in vehicle to the other side of the volcano to see the petrified lava from its last eruption in 1917.Then.

We will visit the historic centre of San Salvador to visit the Metropolitan Cathedral, the National Palace, the Mural of the martyrs and the Church del Rosario. Finally we will goto the impressive Puertadel Diablo (rock formation to 1130 msm where you can see the volcanoes, volcanic Lake of Ilopango, Balsam mountains and the Pacific Ocean).

Day 03 San Salvador – Guazapa – Suchitoto (By Road) (58 km/ 1 hrs 30 min)
We invite you to experience the adventure in one of the most important stages in the time of our armed conflict known as the volcano of Guazapa.

Guazapa we received by guides who lived through the conflict which we describe us with a luxury of details on this difficult stage in our history lived by them in Guazapa.Trees, wonderful views, beautiful butterflies, national crops are part of the environment of this magnificent place.

Visit where camps were guerrillas and the famous “tatus”, used by the guerrillas to hide from air raids by the Salvadoran air force.The climate of peace and friendship which currently exists between all residents makes us reflect and hope in a more humane world and better quality of life.

Boat ride in the beautiful Lake of Suchitlan towards the Isla de los Pájaros where you can appreciate the sighting of hundreds of birds that nest on the island, we are not allowed down it for reasons of environmental preservation.

Then, we will go to the Pacific coast of El Salvador, specifically to the coast of liberty, famous for its sandy beaches black and great waves for surfing, where you can enjoy a day of beach and a beautiful sunset. Overnight: El Salvador,El Salvador.

Day 05 El Salvador
We will depart from the Park El Cerro Verde National towards the impressive crater, doing four hours of long walk without the need of special equipment for the terrain is relatively easy ascent and descent. We will enjoy unforgettable scenery of the cordillera Apaneca-Ilamatepec of Lake Coatepeque and extensive valleys of fertile land that makes up El Salvador. Overnight: El Salvador.

Day 06  El Salvador
Enjoy the beauty of the Western landscape of the country visiting picturesque villages such as (tradition in production of crafts of indigenous origin) Nahuizalco, Juayua, Apaneca and. Day 07 El Salvador – San Salvador (By Road) (55 kms / 1 hrs 15 mins appx.)
The adventure continues with an exciting Buggie tour, starting in Apaneca the ancient volcanic crater known today as Laguna Verde with duration of two hours and a half. At the same time we will enjoy the Route The Flowers’ Route where we will be surrounded of one of the best sceneries in the country to finally relax with a delicious bath in the warm waters of the springs of Santa Tereza. Visit the Department of Morazan, one of the most beautiful regions of the country, but during our historical conflict was punished by fierce battles between the army and the guerrillas.

Currently Morazan enjoys peace, which revives the charm of its mountains, rivers of crystal clear water and the warmth typical of the region.

We will make a historic expedition in the Museum of the revolution (Periquin) and an ecological walk to enter in contact with nature. Other points of interest: Sapo River and the mural at el Mozote victims. Overnight in El Salvador.

Day 07 El Salvador
Visit one of the most beautiful beaches known as the Costa del Sol El Salvador, including one night’s accommodation in a hotel facing the sea, the perfect place to relax or make a tour boat among mangroves, Lempa River (the main river of the country) and the mouth of the Lempa  where  the river join the Pacific Ocean.
