Gwalior is a city in the central Indian state of Madhya Pradesh. It’s known for its palaces and temples, including the Sas Bahu Ka Mandir intricately carved Hindu temple. Ancient Gwalior Fort occupies a sandstone plateau overlooking the city and is accessed via a winding road lined with sacred Jain statues. Within the fort’s high walls is the 15th-century Gujari Mahal Palace, now an archaeological museum.

Gwalior Fort is a hill fort near Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh, central India. The fort has existed at least since the 10th century, and the inscriptions and monuments found within what is now the fort campus indicate that it may have existed as early as the beginning of the 6th century.

The Khajuraho Group of Monuments is a group of Hindu temples and Jain temples in Chhatarpur district, Madhya Pradesh, India, about 175 kilometres southeast of Jhansi. They are a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The temples are famous for their nagara-style architectural symbolism and their erotic sculptures.

Day 09 Khajuraho – Varanasi (By Flight)
Breakfast, transfer to the airport to take the flight to Varanasi. Arrive and transfer to the hotel. In the afternoon, enjoy the prayer ceremonies in the ghats of the Ganges River.

Day 10 Varanasi
Early in the morning, cruise on the Ganges River to see Hindu rituals in the Ghats. Return to the hotel for breakfast and later, tour of the city of Varanasi, which includes the temple of Bharat Mata and passing by the Hindu University of Varanasi. In the afternoon, visit the Sarnath, the place where Buddha gave his first sermon and we will also visit its excellent museum.

Varanasi is a city in the northern Indian state of Uttar Pradesh dating to the 11th century B.C. Regarded as the spiritual capital of India, the city draws Hindu pilgrims who bathe in the Ganges River’s sacred waters and perform funeral rites. Pushkar is a town bordering the Thar Desert, in the northeastern Indian state of Rajasthan. It’s set on Pushkar Lake, a sacred Hindu site with 52 ghats (stone staircases) where pilgrims bathe. After breakfast, early morning relaxation. Outside look at the Red Fort built in the 17th century and visit the Jama Masjid mosque, the largest mosque on the Indian subcontinent. TouDays in the old town, a walk through the maze of alleys to the bustling bazaar of Chandni Chowk will be your opportunity to take the pulse of these neighborhoods that never sleep.

At the eastern end of Chandni Chowk is the Digambara Jain Temple, whose small marble courtyard is surrounded by a beautiful colonnade. It is the refuge of the birds of the city, which even have their hospital there!

In the afternoon, enjoy the freshness of the parks in the new Delhi of Lutyens, a garden city with vast avenues lined with huge trees.

Visit the Taj Mahal, a luminous white marble mausoleum built by the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan to immortalize his love for his wife Mumtaz, closed on Friday. After 3 years of work, the renovation of the main facade of the Taj Mahal and its four minarets is magnificently completed.

After breakfast, On the way from Ranthambore, stop at Fatehpur Sikri which was one of the capitals of the Mughal emperor Akbar. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, its red sandstone palaces combine Indian architecture with those of Iran and Central Asia.

In the early afternoon, express train to Sawai Madhopur and continuation by road to Ranthambore. Ranthambore Park is closed from July to September.

After breakfast, the national park covers 411 km². It is in these magnificent landscapes, where lakes and rivers alternate, that an ambitious project of reintroduction and protection of the tiger was carried out.

If you don’t have the chance to spot tigers, many other animals are visible: hyenas, bears, deer, crocodiles and more than 250 species of birds. Safaris in the reserve early in the morning and at the end of the afternoon with a naturalist guide depending on the number of visitors present, the visit can be carried out in a private jeep or vehicle for ten to fifteen people.

Fatehpur Sikri – Built by Emperor Akbar in 1569, was the old capital of the Moghuls, which was abandoned after 15 years due to scarcity of water. The sloping levels of the city were connected into terraces which were utilised for various complexes such as Jami masjid, Buland-Darwazah and tomb of Sheikh Salim Chishti; Khass Mahal, Shahi-Bazar, Mina-Bazar, the Panch-Mahal, Khwabgah, Diwan-i-Khass, Anup-Talao, Chaupar and Diwan-i-Am. The efficient system of drainage and water-supply adopted here suggest an extremely intelligent town-planning by the Mughal emperor.

The city was founded in 1530 on a rocky island amidst the streams of the betwa and was abandoned two hundred years later. Today, the ruins of its patina-blackened temples and cenotaphs still stand out around the imposing maze of domes, towers and passageways of the Jahangiri Mahal, the most important palace in Ourchha and one of the most original buildings in India.

Gwalior is a city in the central Indian state of Madhya Pradesh. It’s known for its palaces and temples, including the Sas Bahu Ka Mandir intricately carved Hindu temple. Ancient Gwalior Fort occupies a sandstone plateau overlooking the city and is accessed via a winding road lined with sacred Jain statues. Within the fort’s high walls is the 15th-century Gujari Mahal Palace, now an archaeological museum.

Gwalior Fort is a hill fort near Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh, central India. The fort has existed at least since the 10th century, and the inscriptions and monuments found within what is now the fort campus indicate that it may have existed as early as the beginning of the 6th century.

Day 08 Jaipur

Like its passions and its history, in Rajasthan everything is intense: dances, crafts, the hubbub of its cities and the beauty of its people. In the morning, “on the back of an elephant” we will go up to the Amber Fort, former seat of the Jai Singh II dynasty. While in Europe the Roman Empire collapsed and in Mesoamerica the heyday of Palenque and Teotihuacan began, on the other side of the world, in Ajanta, India, temples and monasteries were excavated on the side of a ravine with splendid murals and sculptures on life of the “enlightened”.

Day 10 Jaipur – Abhaneri / Fatehpur Sikri – Agra  (By Road) (253 Kms/ 5H)
Breakfast, In the morning you will proceed to Agra.

Abhaneri, also spelled Abaneri, is a village in the Dausa district of the Indian state of Rajasthan. Abhaneri is popular for the Chand Baori step well and Harshat Mata Temple.

Walking visit to Fatehpur Sikri, the abandoned city that was once the fabulous capital of the Mughal Empire. A planned walled city, comprising a series of royal palaces, haren, the courts, a mosque, private quarters, and other public buildings.

Arrival in Agra and transfer to the hotel. In the afternoon we will visit the “Taj Mahal”, the most famous architectural monument in the world, Built by the Mughal emperor Shan Jehan in memory of his beloved queen Mumtaz Mahal, the complex took twenty-two years to complete and is counted today among the Seven Wonders of the World. Visit to the Red Fort and the tomb of Itmad-ud-Daula, it is one of the most beautiful Mughal tombs and was built by Nur Jahan.

Day 11 Agra – Gwalior – Orchha (By Road) (120 Kms. / 2H 30M appx.)

Gwalior is a city in the central Indian state of Madhya Pradesh. It’s known for its palaces and temples, including the Sas Bahu Ka Mandir intricately carved Hindu temple. Ancient Gwalior Fort occupies a sandstone plateau overlooking the city and is accessed via a winding road lined with sacred Jain statues. Within the fort’s high walls is the 15th-century Gujari Mahal Palace, now an archaeological museum.

Orchha is a town in Niwari district of Madhya Pradesh state, India. The town was established by Rudra Pratap Singh some time after 1501, as the seat of an eponymous former princely state of covering parts of central & north India, in the Bundelkhand region.

Day 12 Orchha – Khajuraho (By Road) (180 Kms. / 4H 30M appx.)
After breakfast, drive to Khajurhao.

The Khajuraho Group of Monuments is a group of Hindu temples and Jain temples in Chhatarpur district, Madhya Pradesh, India, about 175 kilometres southeast of Jhansi. They are a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The temples are famous for their nagara-style architectural symbolism and their erotic sculptures.

Day 13 Khajuraho – Varanasi (By Flight)
Breakfast. In the morning transfer to the airport to take the flight to Varanasi. It is a most sacred city in India that is famous for the sacred river “Ganges” and it is one of the oldest cities of life in the world. For each visitor Varanasi offers an impressive experience.

Day 14 Varanasi – Delhi (By Flight)
In the early morning, ‘sunrise’, boat trip on the holy Ganges river to observe the way of life of the pilgrims through the Ghats. Return to the hotel for breakfast. After breakfast we will visit the ancient city Varanasi. We will know the Ghats of the sacred river Ganges and walk through a colorful cloth and the market of traditional dresses. Ghats are very famous not only for taking a sacred bath, but also for cremation. The Kashi Vishwanath temple – is one of the most famous Hindu temples and is dedicated to the god Shiva. Sarnath – This is the famous deer park where the Buddha delivered his first sermon to all five disciples, making it one of the holiest places in Asia.

Day 02 Delhi – Lucknow (By Flight)

Visit to the Martinière college, built by French general Claude Martin. “Heritage walk” walk for 1 hour 30 minutes, discovering the unique heritage of the old town, in the company of a local guide.

Day 03 Lucknow
After breakfast, Discovery of the grandiose monuments of the Nababs: the Bara Imambara, a monumental building built in 1784, then the Rumi Darwaza gate of Persian inspiration. Horse-drawn carriage ride to the mausoleum of Chotta Imambara. Visit of “La Residency”, still marked by the tragic history of the Cipayes revolt in 1857, then the whole of the Kaiserbagh palace. Stop at Dhobi Ghat, the laundromat district, before a stroll in the Hazratganz bazaar.

Day 04 Lucknow – Varanasi (By Train)
After breakfast, Morning train to Bénarès, the city of Shiva, famous for its ghats on the banks of the Ganges, the most sacred river in Hinduism. Rickshaw ride through the bazaar of the old town to the ghats, where you attend the moving Aarti ceremony, marked by the fervor of pilgrims. Sunset at the edge of the Ganges when they pay homage to the gods.

Day 05 Varanasi
After breakfast, at dawn, by boat on the Ganges, there is an atmosphere of piety and devotion. You walk through the old town to the 17th century Aurangzeb Mosque. Glimpse of the Golden Temple entrance reserved for Hindus, the most sacred in the city. Excursion to Sarnath, where Buddha delivered his first sermon after reaching enlightenment, and visit the museum which houses a magnificent collection of Buddhist sculptures.

Day 06 Varanasi – Bodhgaya (By Road) (255 Kms. / 5H 30M appx.)
After breakfast, Assist Route to Bodhgaya. It is an important place for Buddhists, where Buddha attains enlightenment after forty Days of asceticism. Then not far, Gaya, a city sacred for Hindus in the same way as Bodhgaya is for Buddhists. Visited by Vishnu who endowed the city with the power to absolve sins, it attracts many pilgrims. Day 07 Bodhgaya – Rajgir (By Road) (72 Kms. / 2H 10M appx.)
After breakfast, Visit of the Mahabodhi temple, a 50 m high pyramid which contains a golden statue of Buddha. You will discover several monasteries of Tibetan, Thai, Burmese style … built by pilgrims. Road to Rajgir where Buddha loved to preach and retreat. You will discover the cave where the first Buddhist council is said to have been held, as well as Jain and Shiva temples.

Day 08 Rajgir – Patna (By Road) (105 Kms. / 3H 45M appx.)
After breakfast, Continue to Nalanda where one of the oldest universities in the world was created, a major center for teaching the doctrine of the Great Vehicle. Continue to Patna. Transfer by rickshaw to the Gurudwara Patna Sahib temple, birthplace of the 10th guru of the Sikh religion. If time permits, visit the museum, or the next morning.

Day 09 Patna – Calcutta (By Flight)
After breakfast, Flight to Calcutta. With its incessant crowd and its congested streets, the city would have everything to divert. And yet, it has a unique soul, which indulges in the leisurely stroller. Visit the temple of Kalighat where the goddess Kali has a strange and disturbing black face. You take the metro to return to the city center.

Day 10 Calcutta
After breakfast, Visit the Jain Temple of Pareshnath, erected in 1867. Walk through the artisan district of Kumartuli and visit the Indian Museum which houses an exceptional collection of Gandhara Buddhist sculptures. Discovery of the Maidan, Dalhousie square and colonial buildings of the British Raj: Writers Building, High Court, St John’s Church.

Day 11 Calcutta
After breakfast, stroll through the flower market near the impressive Howrah Bridge. Continuation to the very alive temple of Dakshineshwar, shivaite sanctuary dedicated to Kali. Continue to Sova Bazar. It is by boat that you reach the opposite bank of the Hoogly to the Babu ghats. Discover the Marble Palace, a beautiful 19th century residence decorated with invaluable works of art. Then the house of Tagore, the most illustrious poet of modern India, converted into a cultural center. Visit to the Victoria Memorial, completed in 1921 in honor of the Empress of India. Free time for shopping at the New Market.

Day 12 Calcutta – Bhubaneswar (By Flight)
After breakfast, Flight to Bhubaneswar. Discovery of the Jain caves of Udaigri and Khandagiri, then of the Parasumeshwara, Mukteshwara and Rajarani temples. These temples have an original architectural style among the most successful in the monumental history of India. Stop at Bindu Sagar, sacred pond, and discover the Lingaraja temple, a marvel of elegance from the 11th century. Reserved for Hindus, it can be admired from the top of a neighboring platform.

Day 13 Bhubaneswar – Puri (By Road) (62 Kms. / 1H 20M appx.)
After breakfast, On the road to Puri, stop in the classified village of Raghurajpur whose houses are covered with lovely murals. Arrival in Puri, holy city on the Bay of Bengal. Walk in the market, then visit the outside of the temple of Jagannath, the “Lord of the Universe” entrance reserved for Hindus. The surrounding area is bustling with the presence of a constant crowd of pilgrims and a multitude of small stalls offering objects of worship.

Day 14 Puri
After breakfast, Excursion to Konarak and its extraordinary temple dedicated to the sun god Surya, erected in the 12th century and listed as World Heritage by UNESCO. The delicacy and abundance of his sculptures make it one of the most beautiful tributes of the Hindu religious faith. A building of impressive dimensions, it represents the solar chariot drawn by horses. Return to Puri, free time to stroll through the market or on the beach, which take the form of a funfair at the end of the afternoon.
