Marble Palace is one of the most famous attractions of Kolkata. Built by the wealthiest merchant of his time, the palace is the most preserved mansions of the 19th century era. The palace has intricately carved pillars and walls. The whole palace is made up of marble giving it the name.

It was built by Raja Rajendra Mullick in 1835. He had great passion for collecting art and antiques. This place contains large volumes of western sculpture, paintings and other antiques such as chandeliers, clocks, urns, etc. This place is said to contain painting from famous artists such as Ruben, Sir Joshua Reynolds, Titian, Murillo, and John Opie.

The Dakshineswar Kali Temple is located in Dakshineswar near Kolkata on the eastern bank of the Hooghly River and dedicated to Bhavatarini, an aspect of Kali Maa. Dakshineswar Kali Temple is one of the most famous temple in India and one of the biggest temple in Kolkata.

The Howrah Bridge renamed as Rabindra Setu but still popularly known as the Howrah Bridge, is a cantilever bridge with a suspended span over the Hooghly River linking the two cities of Howrah and Kolkata. Howrah Bridge is one of two on the Hooghly River and is a famous symbol of Kolkata and the sixth-longest bridge of its type in the world.

Victoria Memorial, Kalighat Kali Temple , Mother Teressa’s House, Park Street, Maidan, Tea Auction
One of the Kolkata’s most sacred sites, Kalighat Kali Temple is known as one of the 51 Shakti Peethas on Earth.

The Victoria Memorial is one of the large marble building in Kolkata and dedicated to the memory of Queen Victoria. Victoria Memorial is now a museum and tourist destination and has mixture of British and Mughal elements architectural influence.

About 200 years old, this historic temple is dedicated to Hindu Goddess Kali. As legend has it, this is the place where Sati’s toes of the right foot fell. Countless devotees, regardless of sectarian differences, visit this holy temple to offer prayers to the goddess. Enhancing the beauty and sanctity of the temple is the Hooghly River’s tributary – Adi Ganga that flows right next to it.

A testament of rock-like faith, indestructible hope and incredible charity – the Mother House of the Missionaries of Charity was home to the Nobel Peace Prize awardee – Mother Teresa. At present, this house is the headquarters of the Missionaries of Charity’s international religious congregation.

For visitors, only Mother Teresa’s Tomb, the museum and her room are open. The tomb, where Mother Teresa was buried on 13th September, 1997 is on the ground floor. People belonging to all creeds come to offer prayers and meditate here. In adjacent to the tomb, there is a small museum that exhibits Mother Teresa’s handwritten letters, exhortations and personal belongings, including sari, crucifix and sandals. Novena prayer cards and the medallion of Mother Mary are some of the proud possessions of this museum. Overnight stay at hotel.

Darjeeling is a town in India’s West Bengal state, in the Himalayan foothills. Varanasi is a city in the northern Indian state of Uttar Pradesh dating to the 11th century B.C. Regarded as the spiritual capital of India, the city draws Hindu pilgrims who bathe in the Ganges River’s sacred waters and perform funeral rites. Along the city’s winding streets are some 2,000 temples, including Kashi Vishwanath, the “Golden Temple,” dedicated to the Hindu god Shiva.

Day 09 Varanasi

Start your next day with a morning boat ride at the dawn. Boating in the Ganges at the sunrise in Varanasi is one of the main attractions. Observe Hindu’s way of life on the bank of the river Ganges. There are number of temples on the bank of the Ganges River in Varanasi. It is at the Ganga Ghats [Banaras Ghat] where you can see life and death together. There are numbers of Ghat alongside Ganges river in Varanasi where you can see Hindu cremation as well. Some of the prominent and popular Ghats at Varanasi are the Dasaswamedh Ghat, Manikarnika Ghat, Harischandra Ghat, Assi Ghat,Shivala Ghat, Man Mandir Ghat, Darbhanga Ghat, Ahilyabai Ghat and Kedar Ghat.

Morning Varanasi Heritage Walking tour – Northern part of the heritage city has always been a cultural, social and financial part of the city. Our walk will take you through the narrow and puzzling Alley ways where most of the tourists get confused to pass through.

Visit to Kashi Vishwanath Temple, Bharat Mata Temple.

PM visit to Sarnath: One of the major Buddhist centers in India. Having achieved enlightenment in Bodhgaya, it was at Sarnath where Buddha came to preach his message of the middle way to final Nirvana. Later emperor Ashoka erected many magnificent stupas and other buildings here. Sarnath was at its peak when Chinese travellers Fa hian and Hiuen Tsang visited the site.

Evening: Watch prayer ceremony at holy river Ganga.

In the evening, experience the Hindu ritual Aarti. Aartis also refer to the songs sung in praise of the deity, when offering of lamps is being offered. Hindus in India worship the river Ganges as goddess. Every evening in Varanasi, aarti is performed at the Dashashwamedh ghat. We can watch it from the Ghat or from the waterside in a boat. It is a beautiful, resonant, and majestic spectacle with a very precise choreography involving rituals performed by several priests with the sound of bells, drums, cymbals, and Sanskrit mantras. Day 10 Varanasi – Khajuraho (By Flight)
After breakfast, later transfer to airport for flight to Khajuraho.

The Khajuraho Group of Monuments is a group of Hindu temples and Jain temples in Chhatarpur district, Madhya Pradesh, India, about 175 kilometres southeast of Jhansi. They are a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The temples are famous for their nagara-style architectural symbolism and their erotic sculptures. Overnight in Khajuraho.

Day 11 Khajuraho – Orchha (By Road) (180 Kms. / 4H 30M appx.)
After breakfast, drive to Orchha. On arrival, city tour of Orchha.
Visit: Orchha Fort, Ram Raja Temple, Chhattris, Betwa River, Kanchana Ghat, Dinman Hardaul Palace, Rani Mahal, Dauji Ki Kothi, Chaturbhuj Temple. Later, transfer to the hotel. Overnight in Orchha.

Orchha is a town in Niwari district of Madhya Pradesh state, India. The town was established by Rudra Pratap Singh some time after 1501, as the seat of an eponymous former princely state of covering parts of central & north India, in the Bundelkhand region.

Day 12 Orchha – Gwalior – Agra (By Road) (240 Km/ 5H appx.)

Gwalior is a city in the central Indian state of Madhya Pradesh. It’s known for its palaces and temples, including the Sas Bahu Ka Mandir intricately carved Hindu temple. Ancient Gwalior Fort occupies a sandstone plateau overlooking the city and is accessed via a winding road lined with sacred Jain statues. Within the fort’s high walls is the 15th-century Gujari Mahal Palace, now an archaeological museum.

Day 13 Agra

Agra, a romantic city in India, is known for the marble edifice ‘Taj Mahal’ Besides Taj Mahal, Agra is also known for the Agra Fort and Fatehpur Sikri, the red sandstone city made by Emperor Akbar. Agra is a medieval city situated on the banks of the river Yamuna. Sultan Sikandar Lodi, the Ruler of Delhi Sultanate founded it in the year 1504.
After the sultan’s death the city passed on to his son Sultan Ibrahim Lodi who ruled his Sultanate from Agra until he fell fighting to Babur in the First battle of Panipat fought in 1526.
Agra fort – Construction of the massive red sandstone Agra Fort on the bank of the Yamuna River was begun by Emperor Akbar in 1565, though additions were made up until the rule of his grandson, Shah Jahan.

Taj Mahal – Described as the most extravagant monument ever built for love, it was constructed by Mughal emperor Shah Jahan as a memorial to his queen Mumtaz Mahal, made out of white marble took 22 years to complete (1630-1652 AD). Ustad Ahamad Lahori, a Persian Architect, is said to be the main designer and planner for this magnificent memorial.

Mehtab Bagh – The Garden complex, situated on the opposite bank of the Taj Mahal, is known as Mehtab Bagh, or “The Moonlight Garden”. Recent excavations revealed a huge octagonal tank furnished with 25 fountains, a small central tank and a baradari on the east.

Jama Masjid -Situated opposite the Agra Fort is the grand Jama Masjid, Agra’s most important and largest mosque. Commissioned by Shah Jahan in 1648, the mosque topped with red sandstone domes, is known for its beautiful architecture. Five large arches lead to the main prayer hall inside the Jama Masjid, which are skimmed by a beautiful bolster of sandstone adorned with floral motifs.

Itmad-Ud- Daulah,s Tomb – This tomb belongs to the father of Nur Jahan, Ghias-ud-Din Beg. He was the Wajir or the Chief Minister of Emperor Jehangir. This white marble tomb was built by Nur Jahan between 1622 and 1628. The tomb may not be as mammoth as the Taj but the inlay designs and carvings are no less than Taj if not more. The delicate marble latticework in the passages allows the light to enter the interiors. A similar tomb was built by Nur Jahan for Jehangir in Lahore. This tomb was the first complete marble Moghul structure.

SIKANDRA – The sandstone and marble tomb of Akbar lies in the centre of a serene garden at Sikandara, 4 km north-west of Agra. The mausoleum blends Islamic, Hindu, Buddhist, Jain and Christian motifs and styles to represents Akbar’s philosophy and secular outlook.

Day 14 Agra–Fatehpur Sikri /Abhaneri–Jaipur (By Road) (261 Km/ 6H 30M)
After breakfast, drive to Jaipur.
On the way visit Fatehpur Sikri and Abhaneri.
Later, transfer to Jaipur. On arrival, transfer to the hotel. Overnight in Jaipur.

Fatehpur Sikri – Built by Emperor Akbar in 1569, was the old capital of the Moghuls, which was abandoned after 15 years due to scarcity of water. The sloping levels of the city were connected into terraces which were utilised for various complexes such as Jami masjid, Buland-Darwazah and tomb of Sheikh Salim Chishti; Khass Mahal, Shahi-Bazar, Mina-Bazar, the Panch-Mahal, Khwabgah, Diwan-i-Khass, Anup-Talao, Chaupar and Diwan-i-Am. The efficient system of drainage and water-supply adopted here suggest an extremely intelligent town-planning by the Mughal emperor.

Abhaneri: one of the places near Jaipur, is a small village in the Dausa district in North Rajasthan. The village is famous for its ancient Step well called ‘Chand Baori. Step wells are a unique concept of India and were used extensively around Rajasthan by erstwhile kings and rulers of different regions of Rajasthan. These step wells were used as reservoir during monsoon to store water for harsh summer. Within these step wells, they used to build few palatial rooms that can be used once the water level drops. Very intelligently designed, the architecture of these step wells was very useful for storing water as well as making it a temporary residence to avoid summer heat.

Day 15 Jaipur
After breakfast, full day city tour of Jaipur.
Visit: Elephant ride at Amer Fort, City Palace, Observatory, Hawa Mahal, Jal Mahal, Laxmi Narayan Temple, Albert Square. Overnight in Jaipur.

Jaipur is the capital of India’s Rajasthan state. It evokes the royal family that once ruled the region and that, in 1727, founded what is now called the Old City, or “Pink City” for its trademark building color. At the center of its stately street grid (notable in India) stands the opulent, colonnaded City Palace complex. With gardens, courtyards and museums, part of it is still a royal residence.

Day 16 Jaipur – Delhi (By Road) (250 Kms. / 4H 50M appx.)
After breakfast, drive to Delhi.
On arrival, half-day city tour of Delhi.
Visit: Qutub Minar, Lotus Temple, India Gate, Bangla Sahib Gurudwara, Laxmi Narayan Temple, Government Buildings.

Delhi, India’s capital territory, is a massive metropolitan area in the country’s north. In Old Delhi, a neighborhood dating to the 1600s, stands the imposing Mughal-era Red Fort, a symbol of India, and the sprawling Jama Masjid mosque, whose courtyard accommodates 25,000 people. Nearby is Chandni Chowk, a vibrant bazaar filled with food carts, sweets shops and spice stalls.

Day 17 Delhi
After breakfast, full day city tour of Delhi.
Visit: Humayun’s Tomb, Old Delhi, Jama Masjid & Chandni Chowk- The best way to explore this area is on a cycle-rickshaw or on foot. Start with Jama Masjid, one of the largest mosques in India. From there, go to the Digambar Jain Temple and the bird hospital in it. Next visit the Gauri Shankar Temple, Bhagirath Palace, Central Baptist Church, Gurudwara Sisganj, Sunehri Masjid, Fatehpuri Mosque, Khari Baoli, Ghalib’s Haveli and Chunnamal ki Haveli.
Red Fort – The majesty of the Republic End the day with a trip to Red Fort, the most spectacular piece of Mughal architecture in Delhi. To explore the Fort completely it will take at least 1 -2hours.

Evening visit of Akshardham Temple with Musical Fountain Show.
Swaminarayan Akshardham Temple. The magnificent monument officially opened in 2005, and is situated on the banks of Yamuna in the eastern face of the city. Day 02 Delhi – Bhubaneswar (By Flight)
Early Morning transfer to airport to catch flight to Bhubaneshwar. On arrival at Bhubaneshwar meet to our staff, transfer to hotel. Later proceed for half-day tour of the city that includes the 2nd century B.C. Jain Monk Caves at the twin hills of Khandagiri and Udaygiri, tribal museum etc. Overnight at hotel.

Day 03 Bhubaneshwar – Baliguda (By Road) (280 kms / 4-5 hrs)
After an early breakfast drive to Baliguda, Baliguda is in the district of Phulbani, through the beautiful countryside road full with small mountains of Sal forest, one of the entry point to the tribal highland of Orrisa. En-route visit weavers village at Itamati and some of the typical Orissan villages. Arrive at the hotel in the evening. Overnight at Baliguda.

Day 04 Baliguda
After breakfast visit to the Barakhamba area to trek to some of the remote villages of tattooed face Desia Kondh tribes. Trek back to road head drive to hotel. Rest of the time visit local market. Overnight hotel at Baliguda.

Day 05 Baliguda – Kothagargh – Rayagada  (By Road) (156 kms / 5 hrs)
After breakfast you will depart to Belghar area visit of a few Kuttiya Kondha Tribal Villages & Weekly Market at Kothagarh. Proceed to explore the villages of the primitive Kutia Kondh Tribes, once famous for the human sacrifice. Living in the mountain / forest cores are friendly tribal community. Lunch on the way. Drive down to Rayaguda. Arrive in the evening. Overnight at hotel.

Day 06 Rayagada – Chatikona – Jeypore (By Road) (152 kms / 4.5 hrs approx)
Trekk to most primitive Dongria Kondh villages in the Niyamgiri hills.You can also see and enjoy the Dongria Kondhs men and women coming down from their mountains with different kinds of fruits and animals etc. to the weekly market. After visiting their villages , you can come down to see their interesting weekly tribal market where they mix with other community.The weekly market at Chatikona where Doms, Desias and Dongoriya Kondhas barter is an interesting event to watch. Later drive on to Jeypore. Enroute Kani tribal village. Overnight hotel at Jeypore.

Day 07 Jeypore – Anadeli – Lamptaput – Jeypore (160 km/ 4 hr approx)
Morning after breakfast, commence drive to visit is the home of the approximately 6000 members of the fierce Bondas (naked people). They live in the remote hills and keep themselves isolated. They grow rice by shifting cultivation and keep domesticated cows and goats. They can only be seen when they come to trade at the local market, and we must time our visit to coincide with the weekly market day on Thursday. The Bonda women are noticeable by their bead necklaces, striking brass and silver necklets and their shaved heads decorated with plaits of Palmyra leaves. You will also see the colourful Godabas, Parajas and Mali tribes.

Afternoon drive back to Jeypore en-route visiting the pottery village Bapaniguda, Siriguda and Paraja tribal village at Litiput.

Day 08 Jeypore – Gupteswar – Jeypore (By Road) (140 kms / 4 hrs)
After an early breakfast proceed to Gupteswar 75 km to visit the villages of very interesting Dhuruba tribe. Visit and walk through villages of Ramanguda, Dogariguda, Silpader, Talur etc. The Dhruba tribal males like to put ornaments living in the border of Madhya Pradesh. Visit the Cave temple of lord Shiva in the hidden mountain famous among the tribes. back to hotel at evening. Overnight hotel Jeypore.

Jeypore-Kunduli-Nandapur-Jeypore: Breakfast at hotel. Morning proceed to witness the biggest tribal weekly market of Sanaparoja & Mali tribes in Kunduli 65 km away via Sunabeda. It is a very colorful market. Later drive down to Nandapur to visit village of Sanaparoja tribes. Visit village Khilua. Saana Padar, Bada Padar with small trekking and later drive down to Jeypore.

Day 09 Jeypore – Lamptaput – Jeypore (By Road) (35 kms / 1 hr – One Way)
After breakfast drive to Machkund, soft trek to primitive Boro Gadaba villages. Watch the traditional dance called Dhemsa. Back to Jeypore en route Lamtaput market.

Day 10 Jeypore – Laxmipur – Rayagada (50 kms / 5 hrs)
Breakfast at hotel. Later drive to Rayagada en route visiting some Desia Kondh/ Paraja villages and also the Jagannath Temple & Tribal Museum at Koraput (The Jagannath Temple is a new temple built on 1972. Here Non Hindus are allowed inside the Temples and all activities are similar to Jagnnath Temple of Puri). Lunch on the way.

Day 11 Rayagada – Tapta-Pani – Chilka Lake (By Road) (257 kms / 5.5 hrs)
After breakfast drive towards Chilka en route visiting the Soura tribal villages and market. Also visit Taptapani on your way. if anywhere nature reveals its enigmatic charisma, it is here in Taptapani, an exotic world of wonder. Enjoy the nature close to your heart and carry the memory years to come. A hot spring which till dates the local habitat use on a mark of Blessing.

Day 12 Chilka – Puri (By Road) (137 kms / 2.3 hrs approx)
Morning boat drive into Chilka lake, the largest brackish Water Lake in Asia. In winter Chilika aflutter with thousands of migratory birds as far as from Siberia. Visit Nalabana Bird Sanctuary. Reach Puri. Evening relax on the beach.

Day 13 Puri – Konark – Puri (By Road) (40 kms / 1 hr One Way)
Morning after breakfast, drive to Konark, visit Sun Temple, Konark (about 35kms) to visit the temple Chariot of the Sun God, built by King Langula Narasimha Deva in the 13th century AD in the golden era of Orissa art. Later drive back to Puri rest of the time visit Lord Jagannath temple, Sankaracharya’s Maths (Non Hindu are not allowed visit inside the temple) located on the downtown area of Puri.

Day 14 Puri – Bhubaneshwar (By Road) (70 kms / 1.3 hrs approx)
Morning proceed to Bhubaneshwar enroute visiting the colourful applique village of Pipili where you can see the colouful Orissan handicrafts and Dhauli Hill peace pagoda famous for the Ashokan rock edicts dating back to 2nd century BC afternoon visit of some of the ancient temples of Bhubaneshwar belonging to (7th-11th) century A. D. like Lingaraja temple, Parasurameswara temple, Mukteswara temple, Bramheswara temple, Raja-Rani temple etc. Overnight hotel at Bhubaneshwar.

Day 15 Bhubaneshwar – Delhi (By Flight) / Depart Delhi
After breakfast, free time till afternoon. Later transfer to airport to catch flight to Delhi.

Ratnagiri is the site of a ruined mahavihara, once the major Buddhist monastery in modern Odisha, India. It is located on a hill in between the Brahmani and Birupa rivers in Jajpur district.

In the morning visit to the most interesting Bonda tribal market at Onukadeli where they come all the way to sale their home made country alcohol .In this market you will also meet interesting Godoba, Paraja, Dedehi and Mali tribes who come to this market to buy their weekly needs or to share a drink from the palm tree.

Lunch by the spectacular waterfall and back to Desia camp to learn about tribal crafts.

Day 07 Village Hike
In the morning hike for half a day to visit nearby Godaba, Paraja, Mali villages and back to the camp to relax.

In the evening enjoy the Dhemsa dance by the host community and you may join to match your steps with the tunes of the local drum and flute.

In the morning depart for Gupteswar region and hike by the riverside to visit Dhuruba tribes.

In the afternoon visit the weekly market at Baligaon and then board the overnight express train from Koraput to Vishakapatnam.

After Breakfast Proceed for a full day city tour visiting Dalhousie Square Covering Raj Bhavan, St. John’s Church, High Court, GPO, Town Hall, Writer’s Building and other important colonial buildings, Flower Market, Howrah Bridge, Kumhartoli The Potter’s Village, Marble Palace, Indian Museum, St. Paul’s Cathedral Church & Victoria Memorial.

The Heritage tour will give insight in to the historical aspect of old Calcutta. This square has many old historic buildings, to name a few – Silver Mint 1824-31 built in Greek style is presently in a dilapidated condition, The Writers Building – designed by Thomas Lyon as a trading house for East India Company in 1780 has 57 sets of identical windows on 3 storeys built like a barrack inside.

The Old Mission Church, built by Swedish missionary Johann Kiernander was consecrated in 1770, General Post Office designed by Walter Granville in 1868 has a white dome and Corinthian pillars, The Raj Bhawan, once a residence of British Governors-General and Viceroys, it is now the home of Governor of West Bengal, next to it is the most important Gothic building of Kolkata – the Calcutta High Court, built in 1872. The Pareshnath Jain Temple is an ornate Digambar Jain temple built in central Indian Style in 1867 by a jeweller. The interior is richly decorated in European baroque and Italianate styles with mirrors and Venetian glass mosaics. The gardens have formal geometric flower beds.

Belur Math was founded in 1899 by Swami Vivekanand, a disciple of Saint Ramakrishna. It is presently the international headquarters of Ramakrishna Mission and preaches the unity of all religions. Symbolizing the belief of “Math” monastery it has Hindu, Christian and Islamic style of architecture.

Visit to the Ninth oldest regular Museum of the world, Indian Museum, Kolkata. It was established in the year 1814 at the Asiatic Society and was transferred to the present site in 1878. It has over sixty galleries of Art, Archaeology, Anthropology, Geology, Zoology and Botany sections, spreading over 10000 sq. feet area.

Many rare specimens both Indian and Trans – Indian origin relating to Humanities and Natural Science are preserved and displayed in the galleries of these sections. It has a collection of more than 50,000 coins of Gold, Silver and other metals. It also has a mummy in its Egyptian section.

In the afternoon visit the Victoria Memorial – a gift by Lord Curzon to Queen Victoria in honor of her commemoration and as a symbol of her Indian Empire. It has been designed in Italian Renaissance-Mughal style and built in White Marble in 1921 and has many galleries with over 3000 exhibits. At the entrance it has an impressive ‘weather vane’ in form of a 5mt tall bronze figure of Victory, weighing over 3 tons.

After Breakfast Proceed to Visit the flower market near the Hooghly River in the morning, followed by a boat ride. Also visit the Missionaries of Charity founded by Mother Teresa, Mother Teresa came as a Loreto Sister in 1931 to teach in a local school in Kolkata and 19 years later with Pope’s permission started her Order of the Missionaries of Charity to serve the destitute. The Nuns of this order always work in pairs and the mission has many Homes, Clinics and Orphanages. Nirmal Hriday pure heart was opened in 1952 for the dying among the poorest. Drive to Barpali, the village of Tassar Silk & Cotton weavers. These sarees are known for their incorporation of traditional motifs like Shankha ( Shell), Chakra ( Wheel), Phula ( Flower) which are very symbolic in nature. Later drive to Bargarh to sea the Bandha work by the weaving society. Waiver of Bargarh, Barpali & Sonepur excel in weaving sarees in their own traditional pattern, its always a treat to watch these weaver communities such as bhulias, Kostas, Gaudias creating intricate patterns on fabric.
