Day 01 Arrive Guwahati (By Flight)

Kamakhya Temple: The origin of Kamakhya Temple is pre Aryan situated atop the Nilachal Hill. The formost shrine of Assam, The Kamakhya is an ancient seat of Tantric and shakti Cults of Hinduism. The original temple was destroyed by the invading Muslims in their crusade against Hindu temples and idols in the early part of 16th century. Ultimately it was restored from ruins by King Naranarayan of the Koch dynasty and rebuilt in its present forming 1665 AD.

Shankardev Kalakshetra: a place where Assamese history and culture is depicted in a sprawling open enclosure. It has a beautiful museum where they preserved the masks these masks are made in Majuli island, the traditional dresses and jewellery of the entire North East India. A Namghar Assamese prayer Hall and an open air theatre has been constructed to perform the plays and other cultural activities during festivals.

Guwahati War Cemetery: Built and maintained by the Commonwealth War Graves Commission. The cemetery was started during the war when several military hospitals were posted in the area and was originally for burials from these hospitals. There are now 517 causalities buried in this cemetery.

Barapani Umiam Lake: As per the legends, two heavenly sisters decided to make their way to Meghalaya. However, one of them had reached the destination and the other could not due to some reason. So the former could not traced out her sister and started crying with her broken heart. She cried so much that and a lake was formed with her tears. Locally known as Umiam Lake, Barapani means vast waters. Today it becomes a hub for the water sports activities such as speed boats, sailboats and water scooters. Adjoining to the lake, the Nehru Park offers an aviary and a collection of orchids and butterflies. Arrive Shillong and check in at hotel.
Shillong: The Capital of Meghalaya, Shillong is one of the major tourist destinations in North East India. The British loved this place so much that they had established its Capital for Eastern Bengal and Assam For its climate and unique topographical features the British referred Shillong as the “Scottland Of The East”. Day 03 Shillong – Cherrapunjee – Shillong (54 Km/ 01 hrs 40 min – One Way)
After Breakfast Proceed full day excursion to Cherrapunjee.Cherrapunjee is a small hamlet, situated at an altitude of about 4823 feet 1484 m. Locally known as ‘SOHRA’. Cherrapunjee is located in the southern most point of Khasi hill sharing the border of Sylhet district of Bangladesh. Cherrapunji offers a panoramic view of the hilly terrains, deep gorges and valleys with its spectacular waterfalls. It was once having the record of being the wettest place on earth, with an average rainfall of about 1150ms. However, this record has been overtaken by a nearby place Mawsynram. In Cherrapunjee visit:

Nohkalikai falls: This waterfall located 4 kms away from Cherrapunjee and is possibly between 1500 and 2000 feet tall. Known to be the fourth longest fall in the world it carries a pathetic legend behind its name. A woman named Ka Likai had a illegitimate child. After marriage the husband became jealous of her love for her daughter. One day Ka Likai was out for work and her husband killed the daughter, cooked her flesh into a meal. When the woman enquired about her daughter, her husband showed the sign of ignorance. Before she went to look for her daughter, she thought of eating something and had the meal that her husband prepared for her. After having the meal she found both the wrist of her daughter in the betel-nut basket. Then she realized what had happened, killed her husband with a dagger and threw herself off this cliff of this falls. This is how the falls got its name which means “Fall of Ka Likai.”

Mawsmai Cave: This 250m long cave is the major attraction for the tourists in Cherrapunjee. This cave is located 6 kms away from Cherrapunjee near to Mawsmai village. This natural limestone cave is wide enough for a person to walk comfortably, and one can see the myriads of stalagmites and stalactites all over the caves which are growing gradually. The caves are dark inside and electric torches are installed for the convenient of the tourists.

Thangkharang Park: Thangkharang Park is situated 12 km from Cherrapunjee. The park is the house of various orchids and birds. One can see the 180 degree view of the plains of Bangladesh on a clear day.

Day 04 Shillong
After Breakfast Proceed full day city tour of Shillong visiting:

Shillong Peak: It is the highest point of Shillong, located in the upper Shillong an an altitude of 1961 meters 6,433 feet. The name Shillong originated from “Leishyllong” meaning god who is believed to live on the Shillong peak, overlooking the city. It is located 5 kilometers away from Shillong and on a clear day one can enjoy the beautiful view of the entire city.

Elephant Falls: Located in the Upper Shillong 10 kms away from the Shillong town it is one of the majestic waterfalls in Meghalaya. The water of this three steps falls comes down in flows from different levels over the fern-covered rocks and falls into the canyon down below. In the morning it forms a wonderful sight when the sun rays fall on the cascades of water creating the rainbow colors. The best time to visit the waterfalls is during the monsoon when it offers a breath-taking scenery. The forests covered with ferns and thick bamboo grooves are also worth visited for the nature lovers to find the presence of various species of butterflies, birds and orchids.

Wards Lake: Wards Lake is located in the heart of the Shillong City adjoining to the Governor’s Residence. Shaped like a horseshoe, it is one of the prominent hang-out spot in Shillong. This century old lake was built by an engineer named Mr. Pollock. Hence it is also known to be as “Polok’s Lake”. One can opt for boating and pleasant walks on the cobbled sand stone pathways covered with varieties of flowers. The lake also has an arched bridge from where one can feed the fish.

Cathedral of Mary Help of Christian: Situated in At Laitumkhrah, it is the largest Cathedral in Meghalaya attracts thousands of devotees. The colorful glasses of the skylight window along with the paintings of the Jesus spreading the messages of God are influenced by the European art and architecture.

Shillong Golf Course: Shillong Golf Course is termed as the “Glen-eagle of the East” at the United States Golf Association Museum. The Golf Course is situated in a valley covered with thick groves of pine and rhododendron trees at an altitude of 5200 ft. Previously it was a nine hole course and later converted into a eighteen hole course in 1924 by Captain Jackson and C. K. Rhodes. It is the third oldest Golf Course in India.

Day 05 Shilong – Tejpur (By Road) (266 Kms / 05 hrs 32 min appx.)
After Breakfast Proceed for Tezpur.
Tezpur: Modern day Tezpur, the headquarter of Sonitpur district of Assam is said to be erstwhile Sonitpur, the Kingdom of legendary King Banasura. According to the legend when Lord Krishna’s army and Banasura’s army fought for the rescue of Aniruddha grandson of Lord Krishna who married Banasura’s daughter ‘Usha’ against the will of her father there was so much bloodshed that the whole place was stained in red. This prompted to the name of the place becoming Tezpur means the City of Blood. Modern Tezpur was founded by the British colonial administration in 1835 as the headquarters of Darrang Arrive Tezpur and check in at hotel.

Afternoon visit:

Agnigarh: According to the legend the site of the fortress was built by Banasura to keep his daughter Usha in isolation. The name ‘Agnigarh’ has been derived from two Sanskrit words ‘Agni’ meaning fire and ‘garh’ meaning fortress or wall. It is a hill on the banks of the Brahmaputra river and one of the big tourist attractions in Tezpur. The view of river Brahmaputra the Kolia Bhomora Setu bridgenamed after the Ahom general Kolia Bhomora is really eye catching.

Mahabhairav Temple: This ancient Shiva Temple located in the heart of Tezpur town is believed to have been established by king Banasura in the pre-historical times. The temple was originally built of stone but renovated and built with concrete. During Shivaratri thousands of devotees around the country visit the temple and offer their prayer to Lord Shiva.

Bhalukpong: Situated on the Assam-Arunachal border, 250 kms from
Guwahati, Bhalukpong is another picturesque spot for angling and leisurely picnics.

Tipi Orchid Sanctuary and Research Center: An Orchidarium at Tipi 5 kms from Bhalukpong on the way to Bomdila is the Botanical paradise. About 300 species of orchids can be seen in the flora – glass house. Some of them are rare and endangered species. By the side of the glass house there is an orchid museum too.

Bomdila: On the way to Tawang , situated at height of 8500 ft distance from Tezpur 180 kms, Bomdila is a picturesque town in the foothills of Himalayas and the headquarter of West Kameng District the land of the Monpa, Sherdukpen, Aka Hrusso, Miji and Bogun Khawas tribes. One can see the brilliant landscape and snow-clad Gorichen ranges of the Himalaya on a clear day. With its apple orchards, Buddhist gomphas and a magnificent view of the Kameng Valley Bomdila can be named as a mini paradise. Bomdila is also an ideal place for nature lovers with several trekking and hiking trails are now opened for the adventure seeker.

Bomdila Monastery: The monastery has been built under the guidance of Dalai Lama. It is a residence of more than 200 Buddhist monks. From the monastery one can have the breathtaking view of the entire Bomdila. The time of pray is in dawn and dusk, attending which, one can have the absolute peace of mind.

Also visit craft center, where very fine wooden carpets of colourful designs and Masks are produced.

Bomdila also offers a Bird’s eye view of Kangto and Gorichen peaks highest peaks in the state amidst the Himalayan landscape and snow clad ranges.

Jaswant Garh: The war memorial is located 14 kms from Sella Pass on the way to Tawang. The memorial pay homage to Jaswant Singh Rawat, Mahavir Chakra Awardee posthumous the second highest award from the Indian Army. In the famous battle of Nuranang against Chinese in November 1962, Rawat and two other soldiers from 4th Batallion Garhwal Rifles were instrumental in killing 300 Chinese soldiers in 72 hours.

Sella Pass: The entry point into the Tawang Valley is Sela pass at an elevation of 13700 ft above the sea level.. Legend says that a monpa woman supported sepoy Jashwant Singh during his battle with the Chinese. She brought sepoy Jashwant supplies and used to heal his wounds. When Jashwant got martyrdom she killed herself as an act of loyalty.
The glimpse of Paradise Lake in the Sella Pass makes your visit worth. Most of the time the lake is covered with thick blanket of snow.

Day 08 Twang
Morning after breakfast explore Tawang, visiting

Tawang Monastery Vihar: Tawang Monastery about 400 years old, situated at an altitude of approximately 10,000 ft. is the second largest Buddhist monastery in India. It also holds the distinction of being the birthplace of the 6th Dalai Lama. The monastery is the house of more than 700 monks. The monastery was founded by Merag Lama Lodre Gyamtso, in 1681 in accordance to the wishes of the 5th Dalai Lama, Nagwang Lobsang Gyatso. As per the legend, the site of the Monastery was chosen by the horse of Merag Lama. Merag Lama, who had been unable to decide a site to establish the monastery.

One day he was praying in cave, seeking a divine guidance. When he came out after the prayers, he found his horse was missing. On search, the horse was located standing quietly on a hilltop. Considering that as the sign of divine blessing he decided to construct the monastery at the very spot. The monastery is also called Galden Namgey Lhatse meaning celestial paradise. There is a magnificent 8 meter high statue of Lord Buddha. The ancient library inside the courtyard has an excellent collection of thangkas, painted with the blood from the nose of 5th Dalai Lamaand valuable Buddhist manuscripts mainly Kanjur and Tanjur numbering 850 bundles.

Urqelling Monastery: It is the birthplace of the 6th Dalai Lama who is the only Indian to have risen to such a high position in Gelupka Sect of Buddhism so far. Inside the monastery there are several Stupas Vihar and people from all walks of life visit this place during Buddhist new year to get the blessing for the coming year.
The Craft Center: The craft center in Tawang sells beautiful masks, hand woven carpets, jewellery in silver, coral and amber, ‘chubas’ the local dressand delightful affordable mementos.

Tawang War Memorial: The memorial is dedicated to the martyrs of the 1962 Sino-Indian war. The memorial is 40-foot-high and like a stupa in design. It is locally called ‘Namgyal Chortan’. The names of 2420 martyrs imprinted in gold on 32 black granite plagues.

Sangestser Lake: Popularly known as Madhuri Lake is located 35 kms away from Tawang near the China Border. The drive to Sangestser Lake is full of thrill and one can still see the war bankers that had been used during the Chinses aggression in 1962 and the beautiful PTSO lake

Dirang: Dirang 40 kms from Bomdila is situated at an altitude of 1497 meters. It is an ideal hill resort in West Kameng district with beautiful Apple Nursery, Kiwi Farm, Yak Research Centre, Buddhist Gompa, Hot Water Spring and ancient Dirang Jong Fort. It is the base camp for trekking to Gorichen peak and other bird watching trailsAfternoon visit the natural hot spring, Apple gardens and the Yak Breeding farms.

Kaziranga National Park: Kaziranga National Park has become synonymous with successful conservations of Great One Horn Rhinoceros from the Greek word, “rhino” means nose and “ceros” means horn / Unicornis from the Latin word, “uni” means one and “cornis” also means horn and also a home of may other threatened species including Indian Elephant Elephant Maximus, TigerPanthera tigris, Hoolock Gibbon Bunipithecus hoolock, Ganges dolphin Platanista gangetica,Sambar Cervus unicolor, Barasingha or Swamp Deer duvauceli, Hog Deer, Indian Muntjac Muntiacus muntjak, Water Buffalo Bubalus bubalis and Gaur Bos frontalisetc.

There are also over 500 species of birds have been recorder in the park including 25 specis of globally threatened category. Over and above there are 21 rare and endangered species. In winter one can observe a large breeding population of Spot Bill Pelicans about one thousand breeding nests are found in a place which has been named as Pelican Colony in the Eastern Range.

Among the reptiles species like Water Monitor Lizard Varanus salvator, Indian python Python molurus, Cobra Naja naja and the King Cobra are found.

Day 12 Kaziranga National Park

Kohima: Kohima is derived from the word “Kew Hi Ma” which means the men of the land where the flower Kew Hi grows. Situated at an altitude of 1444 m above sea level, Kohima is the Capital of Nagaland. Like other Naga settlement Kohima shares the same feature standing on top of the surrounding mountains. In true sense, fusion of different culture with a blend of modernisms turns Kohima to a fast growing city.

Constructed in the memory of the officers and soldiers who made supreme sacrifices during World War II, the war cemetery attracts hundreds of visitors every year including the relatives of those martyrs. Maintained by the Commonwealth War Graves Commission, the cemetery witnessed more than 2000 graves, on each grave there are beautiful epitaphs carved in bronze.

Kohima village: Popularly known as Bara Basti Big Village the Kohima village is one of the largest village in Asia. Inhabited mainly by the Angami tribes it is divided into ‘khels’ or localities. A large traditional wooden gate welcomes you to the village which is elaborately carved with warriors and weapons and the skull of the mithun, a symbol of prosperity.

Khonoma Green Village: Located 21 kms away from Kohima town the Khonoma village is the first “green village” of Nagaland. The village is well known for the legendary leader Angami Zapu Phizo who was the founder of the Naga movement. It is in this place where the Naga warriors made their last endeavor against the British aggression in 1879.’Khonoma Nature Conservation and Tragopan Sanctuary’ KNCTS was initiated to create the environmental awareness among the inhabitants and reserved about 70 sq km of its village forest. The village is also famous for the fallow management of its alder trees which balances nature in the surrounding areas.

Shree Shree Govindajee Temple: This symbolic temple in Imphal adjoining the palace of the former rulers of Manipur, is a historic centre for Vaishnavite culture. It is a simple and beautiful structure with gold domes, a paved court and a large, raised congregation hall. The main deity of the Temple is The presiding deity in the centre is flanked by idols of Radha Govinda, Balaram and Krishna on one side and Jagannath, Balabhadra and Subhadra on the other.

Khwairamband Bazaar: One of the main attractions of Imphal is the Khwairamband Bazaar. What makes this market different is that it is run by women. Split into two sections on either side of the road, it has tribal women clad in colorful, traditional attire, selling everything from hand-woven shawls, skirts, vessels, mugs and mats to fish, lotus, oranges and orange-flavored honey. And if you wander in the quaint by lanes around the market, you will get a glimpse of Manipur’s customs and traditions.

Khonghampat Orchidarium: There is the Khonghampat Orchidarium that has more than a hundred rare varieties of orchids. The best time to visit the orchidarium is in the months of April and May when the orchids are in full bloom.

Day 17 Imphal

Loktak Lake and Sendra Island: Located 48 kms from Imphal this beautiful lake is resemble like a miniature inland sea. The government had built a Tourist Bungalow for the comfort of the tourists. From the nearby Sendra island, visitors can get a bird’s eye view of this huge and beautiful stretch of water and the life on it, the fisherman and their families who live in neat huts on its shores and anticipating their watery environment by casting their nets on it, harvesting it for the water chestnut known as Heikak, and even building their houses on the islands of floating weed that dart around the lake.

Keibul Lamjao National Park: 53 kms. from Imphal and on the sharing the border with Loktak Lake, Keibul Lamjao National Park is the last natural habitat of the endangered marsh-dwelling brow-antlered deer of Manipur called “Sangai”. It is the only floating national park in the world which is composed of large masses of floating weed called “Phumdi” in local dialect. These phumdi unseemingly can suport a lot of weight.

Day 18 Imphal – Aizwal (By Flight)
After Breakfast Proceed to airport for the flight towards Aizawl

Aizawl: Aizawl, the state Capital of Mizoram is located at an altitude of 4000 feet above sea level. Surrounded on the east by the deep green valley of river Tlawng and protected by beautiful high hills of Durtlang on the north, it is an ideal hill station for those looking for some fresh air and solitude.

Day 19 Aizwal
After Breakfast Proceed Bara Bazar: It is the most important shopping hub with stalls selling garments, and other commodities. Here the people can be seen in their traditional costumes selling products from farms and homesteads including river crabs with little wicker baskets.

Luangmual Handicarfts Centre: 7 Kms away from Aizaul it takes half an hour to reach by car. The ‘Khumbeu’ ceremonial bamboo hat is made here using waterproof ‘hnahthial’ leaves.

Mizoram State Museum: This museum is situated at Mc Donald Hill in the town center. it is having an interesting collection of historical relics, ancient costumes and traditional implements.

Agartala: Agartala is the Capital of Tripura and shares its boundary with Bangladesh.Once a good hunting ground, it became the Capital of the state during the time of Maharaja Krishna Kishor Manikya 1830-50. It remains since then the seat of the state headquarter.

Day 22 Agartala
After Breakfast Proceed visit:

Ujjayanta Palace: Situated in the heart of the town and covering an area of about half a square mile this place is a two storied mension having a mixed architecture with three domes, the central one being 86 feet high. The construction of this beautiful, well-balanced royal palace was undertaken in 1899 and completed in 1901 at a cost of a little over Rs 10 Lakh or 1 million. The two large tanks on two sides with the approach road in between them and well-laid out gardens around the palace with water courses and fountains patterned on Mughal gardens have added beauty to it. The palace has been acquired by the state Govt. and now house of the Lagislative Assembly, besides few Govt. offices.

Kunjaban Palace: Within a mile of the Ujjayanta Palace and to the north stands a picturesque hillock known as Kunjaban. The Palace was built by Maharaja Birendra Kishore Manikya 1909-23 who was a good artist and he said to have prepared himself the plan of the Palace and the adjoining gardens. The palace was considered as an ideal spot for relaxation and pleasure strolls in those days. The palace has been taken over by the state Govt. and now used as the official residence of the Governor of the State.

Jagannath Temple: Situated near Kunjaban Palace, the temple not only attracts Hindus, but many others because of its peculiar structure which is octagonal at the basement, and has an excellent ‘Pradakshinapatha’ the sacred pathway that goes in the clock wise direction round the sanctum.

Sipahijola: Half an hour from Agartala, through an attractive forest, Sipahijola is a beautiful nature and Zoological Park covering an area of 18.532 km. It is the house of more than 150 species of residential birds, migratory birds and lots of wild animals including spectacled monkey, tiger and leopards. With an attractive flowerage greenery and rubber plantation, the area now serves as a beautiful picnic spot.

Day 23 Agartala
After Breakfast Proceed for full day excursion around Agartala visiting:

Tripura Sundari Temple Udaipur: Considered to be one of the oldest pilgrimage place in North East India, it was built by Maharaja Dhanya Manikya in 1501 AD. The temple was subsequently repaired by Maharaja Rama Manikya in 1681 AD when it was damaged by lightning, and again by Radah Kishor manikya in the beginning of the 20th century. The Goddes Tripuri Sundari is the tutelary deity of the royal family. Temple is also called ‘Matabari’.

Nirmahal: One of the finest beauty spots of the state, Nirmahal is situated 53 Kms from Agartala. The palace is so called as it is surrounded on all sides by a big lake called Rudra Sagar. The scenic beauty of the lake attracted Maharaja Bir Bikram Kishor manikya 1927-47 so much that he built a spectacular palace at the center of the lake itself named it as Nirmahal or palace in water.

Kamalasagar Lake: It is an artificial lake at the border of Bangladesh excavated by Maharaja Dhanya Manikya in 15th century. This square has many old historic buildings, to name a few – Silver Mint 1824-31 built in Greek style is presently in a dilapidated condition, The Writers Building – designed by Thomas Lyon as a trading house for East India Company in 1780 has 57 sets of identical windows on 3 storeys built like a barrack inside.

The Old Mission Church, built by Swedish missionary Johann Kiernander was consecrated in 1770, General Post Office designed by Walter Granville in 1868 has a white dome and Corinthian pillars, The Raj Bhawan, once a residence of British Governors-General and Viceroys, it is now the home of Governor of West Bengal, next to it is the most important Gothic building of Kolkata – the Calcutta High Court, built in 1872. The Pareshnath Jain Temple is an ornate Digambar Jain temple built in central Indian Style in 1867 by a jeweller. The interior is richly decorated in European baroque and Italianate styles with mirrors and Venetian glass mosaics. The gardens have formal geometric flower beds.

Belur Math was founded in 1899 by Swami Vivekanand, a disciple of Saint Ramakrishna. It is presently the international headquarters of Ramakrishna Mission and preaches the unity of all religions. Symbolizing the belief of “Math” monastery it has Hindu, Christian and Islamic style of architecture.

Visit to the Ninth oldest regular Museum of the world, Indian Museum, Kolkata. It was established in the year 1814 at the Asiatic Society and was transferred to the present site in 1878. It has over sixty galleries of Art, Archaeology, Anthropology, Geology, Zoology and Botany sections, spreading over 10000 sq. feet area. Many rare specimens both Indian and Trans – Indian origin relating to Humanities and Natural Science are preserved and displayed in the galleries of these sections. It has a collection of more than 50,000 coins of Gold, Silver and other metals. It also has a mummy in its Egyptian section.

In the afternoon visit the Victoria Memorial – a gift by Lord Curzon to Queen Victoria in honor of her commemoration and as a symbol of her Indian Empire. It has been designed in Italian Renaissance-Mughal style and built in White Marble in 1921 and has many galleries with over 3000 exhibits. At the entrance it has an impressive ‘weather vane’ in form of a 5mt tall bronze figure of Victory, weighing over 3 tons Visit the flower market near the Hooghly River in the morning, followed by a boat ride. Also visit the Missionaries of Charity founded by Mother Teresa, Mother Teresa came as a Loreto Sister in 1931 to teach in a local school in Kolkata and 19 years later with Pope’s permission started her Order of the Missionaries of Charity to serve the destitute. Zoological Park: Established on the 14th Aug 1958, this Zoo was dedicated to the memory of Padmaja Naidu, former Governor of West Bengal on the 21st Nov 1975. Considered as one of the best Zoo in the country, it is the only center that breeds the Tibetan Wolf in captivity. Breeding programmes for the endangered Red Panda, Snow Leopard and the Siberian Tiger are also carried out at PNHZP Padmaja Naidu Himalayan Zoological Park.

Open on all days except Thursdays and other National Holidays. Mountaineering Institute: The Himalayan Mountaineering Institute HMI was established in Darjeeling, India on 04th Nov 1954 to encourage mountaineering as an organized sport in India. This institute was set up following the successful ascent of the Mount Everest-the highest peak in the world by the local hero Tenzing Norgay Sherpa and Sir Edmund Hillary on 28th May 1953. Tenzing Norgay was the first director of field training for HMI. It regularly conducts Adventure, Basic and Advanced Mountaineering courses, they are also highly subsidised to encourage mountaineering as a sport. The institute is presently under the purview of the Minstry of Defence, Government of India and its museum is worth a visit.

Japanese Peace Pagoda: It is one of the most popular attractions in the Darjeeling. It is one of those Peace Pagodas Buddhist Stupas in the world that have been established with the aim of creating a special niche for enlightening people from all religions, creeds and origins, to come together and work for World Peace.

It was build under r the supervision of a Buddhist Monk, Nichidatsu Fujii, who was also the founder of Nipponzan Myo-ho-ji, a Buddhist order for World Peace. Perturbed by the tragedy that followed the dropping of atom bombs in Hiroshima and Nagasaki, in 1945, Nichidatsu Fujii pledged to teach the world the importance of non-violence, goodwill and harmony.

There are four statues of Buddha in Gold polish and eight carvings on sandstone depicting different stages of Buddha’s life in the wall of the Pagoda. Rangit valley passenger cable car: Darjeeling-Rangit Valley Passenger Cable Car is popularly known as the Ropeway. It is about 03 Kms North of the town and situated at what is known as the North Point. The Ropeway is India’s oldest passenger ropeway and connects Darjeeling with Singla Bazaar at the bottom of the valley. The present ropeway has been extensively modernized and visitors can now safely travel over the clouds to witness the aerial view of the lush green tea gardens below. Overnight stay at hotel.

After Breakfast Proceed to Tiger hill: Situated at an altitude of 2590 mt 8482 ft 13 Kms from the town, this spot has earned international fame for the magnificent view of the sunrise over the “Kangchenjunga” 28,208 ft. world’s 3rd highest peak and the great eastern Himalayan Mountains.

The first rays of Sun shoot ahead and shed light upon the twin peaks of Kangchenjunga painting it Pink and then bathing it in a beautiful Orange colour. From Tiger Hill, Mt. Everest 29,002 ft is visible too, peeping out through two other peaks standing by its side. Makalu 27,799 ft looks higher than Mt. Everest, owing to the curve in the horizon, as it is several miles closer than Everest. The distance in straight line from Tiger Hill to Everest is 107 miles.

On your way back visit Ghoom Monastery and Batasia Loop. Ghoom Monastery is the popular name of Yiga Choeling Monastery located at Ghoom at an elevation of 8,000 ft, 08 Kms from Darjeeling. The monastery belongs to the Gelukpa Yellow Hat sect school of Tibetan Buddhism and is famous for its 15 ft high special statue of the Maitreya Buddha.

The external structure of the building was established in 1850 by the famous Mongolian astrologer and monk Sokpo Sherab Gyatso. It contains images of Buddha’s disciples, Chenrezi and Chongapa. Amongst the Buddhist texts available are the Kangyur, the Tibetan Buddhist canon, running into 108 volumes.

The monks fly prayer flags in the Tibetan tradition. Afterwards visit, Batasia Loop and War Memorial: The Batasia Loop situated almost 5 kms away from the town, it is a gigantic railway loop where the Toy Train makes a 360 Degree turn. It was basically built to make it possible for the Toy Train to cut the deep ascend. Strategically located the Batasia Loop offers a panoramic view of the Kangchenjunga Range. A War Memorial constructed in the memory of the brave sons of the soil who laid down their lives in the different wars since the independence of the nation adds to its attraction. Return to hotel for wash and change and for breakfast, rest of the morning at leisure.

Later during the day, in-time transfer to Darjeeling Railway station – Hill Cart Road. Joy Ride Train: If you do not want to spend 07 hrs journey from Darjeeling to New Jalpaiguri in the toy train, you can still have a taste of it by going for a ride on one of the two-hour joy-ride trains from Darjeeling – Ghum – Darjeeling. Ghum being – World’s highest narrow gauge railway station at 7,407 ft. Train takes 10 minutes stoppage at Batasia Loop and 30 minutes stoppage at Ghum Museum. Grab a window seat on the right side of the train facing Ghum. At Batasia loop you get a chance to click excellent photographs of Kangchenjunga. Joy Ride trains depart daily at 1040 hrs and 1320 hrs. Buy the ticket in advance because during tourist seasons tickets sometimes sell out. The fare includes entry fee of the Ghum Museum.

The DHR – Darjeeling Himalayan Railway is a UNESCO World Heritage narrow gauge rail network still operates with the original steam engines and the loops along the route are all remarkable feats of human endeavor and engineering. The journey from Darjeeling town to Ghoom is a “joyride” in the true sense of the word. The Toy Train is a modern engineering marvel and deserves its spot in the limelight. After Breakfast Proceed to explore India capital city by touring its magnificent monuments, start your tour by visiting – Old Delhi: An ancient walled city earlier known as Shahjahanabad. Take a photo stop at Red Fort: the most opulent Red sandstone fort and palace of the Moghul Empire 1639-1648 built by Shah Jahan the 5th Mughal Emperor of India and the builder of the Taj Mahal in Agra, visit Jama Masjid, Largest mosque in India, the foundation of the historic Jama Masjid was laid on a hillock in Shahjahanabad by Emperor Shah Jahan in 1650 AD, this mosque was the result of the efforts of over 6,000 workers, over a period of six years 1650-1656 AD. The cost of the construction in those times was 1 million rupees. This Mosque has three great gates, four towers and two 40 m-high minarets constructed of strips of red sandstone and white marble. About 20,000 people can pray here at a time. The mosque has a vast paved rectangular courtyard, which is nearly 75 m by 66 m. The whole of the western chamber is a big hall standing on 260 pillars.

Visit Chandni Chowk, the bustling and colorful market of the old city, designed by Emperor Shah Jahanâ€s daughter Jahanara Begum. Jahanara laid the foundation of Chandni Chowk, which is the largest trading center of Delhi as well as India. At present the street is a busy thoroughfare and is really congested. This area is renowned for ‘Kuchas and Katras’ also known as Alleys. These alleys house traditional Havelis, places of worship: Temples, Mosques, Church and Gurudwara, popular specialised markets and century-old eating joints. Enjoy a cycle-rickshaw ride.

Visit the Raj Ghat, the memorial site of Mahatma Gandhi – Father of Nation.

Later visit New Delhi designed and built by the British in the 1920’s it’s a city of wide boulevards impressive Government buildings, green parks and gardens. First drive past Connaught Place, the heart and main shopping district of the capital, then drive to Rajpath Kingâ€s Way, India Gate – the 42mt high stone ‘Arch of Triumphâ€, erected in the memory of Indian soldiers who died in First World War. Drive past Rashtrapati Bhawan President Palace and Parliament House. Sightseeing will also include drive past the elegant Lodhi Garden and Safdarjung’s tomb.

Visit the exquisite Humayun Tomb, built in 1570 is of particular cultural significance as it was the first garden-tomb in the Indian subcontinent, the structure was built inspired by Persian Architecture, itâ€s architect was Mirak Mirza Ghiyath. This memorial of Emperor Humayun, second Mughal ruler of India was built by his widow, Hajji Begum 14 years after his death.

Later visit Qutab Minar 12th century minaret built by Qutub-ud-din Aibek of the Slave Dynasty – this building complex dates back to the onset of Muslim rule in India and is fine example of Afghan architecture which is graceful and well sculptured and stands 75 mt. Also visit the Bahaâ€i Temple Lotus Temple Lotus being a symbol of peace and prosperity all around the world, the shape of the temple personifies the purpose for which the foundation of this marvelous man-made architectural was laid. Lotus temple is made of pristine marble blocks, cement, dolomite and sand and the entire ascetic value is coddled by the group of nine pools filled with crystal clear water. The Mother Teresa’s Home – Mother Teresa came as a Loreto Sister in 1931 to teach in a local school in Kolkata and 19 years later with Pope’s permission started her Order of the Missionaries of Charity to serve the destitute. The Nuns of this order always work in pairs and the mission has many Homes, Clinics and Orphanages. Nirmal Hriday pure heart was opened in 1952 for the dying among the poorest.The Pareshnath Jain Temple is an ornate Digambar Jain temple built in central Indian Style in 1867 by a jeweller. The gardens have formal geometric flower beds.Belur Math was founded in 1899 by Swami Vivekanand, a disciple of Saint Ramakrishna. Later visit the Victoria Memorial – a gift by Lord Curzon to Queen Victoria in honor of her commemoration and as a symbol of her Indian Empire. Situated at an altitude of 2590 metres 8482 ft. and 13 kms from the town, this spot has earned international fame for the magnificent view of the sunrise over “Kanchenjunga” and the great Eastern Himalayan Mountains. On your way back visit Ghoom Monastry More correctly known as Yogachoeling Gompa, this is probably the most famous monastery in Darjeeling, just below Hill Cart road and the train station near Ghoom. Later visit Mountaineering Institute: The Himalayan Mountaineering Institute HMI was established in Darjeeling, India on 04th Nov 1954 to encourage mountaineering as an organized sport in India. This institute was set up following the successful ascent of the Mount Everest-the highest peak in the world by the local hero Tenzing Norgay Sherpa and Sir Edmund Hillary on 28th May 1953. After Breakfast Proceed visit some of the fascinating sights in Gangtok. Visit Phodong Monastery, it was built in the early 18th century but an older monastery had pre-existed the current one. The 9th Karmapa was invited by the king of Sikkim, where he founded three monasteries: Rumtek, the most important monastery of the Kagyu sect of Tibetan Buddhism, Phodong and Ralang Monastery. This beautiful monastery makes the abode of not less than 250 monks and it is adorned by the old mural paintings. Phodong Monastery is the major monastery of Karmapa sub-sect of Kagyupa sect.

Afternoon visit the Namgyal Institute of Tibetology – It is a premiere institute and research center located atop a small hill. The main attraction here is the museum which houses around 200 Buddhist icons, antique Paintings, Thangkas, Statues, Shrines, Tapestries, Masks and other religious works of Tibetan Art. Establishment in 1958, it has sponsored and promoted research on the religion, history, language, art and culture of the people of the Tibetan cultural area which includes Sikkim. The sound of a collective chant emanates from the prayer and meditation rooms in the monastery can also be heard in the background. The famous Do Drul Chorten has a gold plated spire. The Chorten is encircled by Chorten Lhakhang and Guru Lhakhang that boast of the two colossal statues of Guru Rimpoche as Guru Padmasambhava is popularly referred as in these parts. After Breakfast Proceed for the sightseeing, visit following places of interest:-The Rajarani Temple AD 1100, set amongst picturesque paddy fields, derives its name from the stone known as the Rajarani. It was built earlier in comparison to the impressive Lingaraja, but what sets apart this relatively small temple is its celebration of the feminine form. Here women are portrayed in a stunning variety of amorous poses and moods reminding one of the temples of Khajuraho.The 55-mt-high Lingaraja Temple is a rare masterpiece depicting the high point of Orissan architecture of the 10th-11th century. Described as ‘the truest fusion of dream and reality’ every inch of its surface is covered with elaborate carvings of Gods, Goddesses, Dryads, Nymphs and Fairies.

The temple can be seen from miles away and the sculpture and architecture here fuse elegantly to create a perfect harmony. It is believed that all pilgrims, who wish to go to the Jagannath temple at Puri, must first offer worship at the Lingaraja temple. The temple has two added structures—the Natya Mandir dance hall and the Bhoga Mandap offering platform. Note – Non-Hindus are not allowed inside the Lingaraja Temple.Most ornate Temple in Bhubaneswar, the Mukteshwar Temple 7th-8th century has intricate carvings of deities that show the amalgamation of Hindu, Buddhist, and Jain styles of architecture. The carvings on the roof, especially the Bho motifs of the grinning Lion and Monkey, are quite striking.

There is a well to the south of the temple in which childless women toss a coin to wish for a child. The Brahmeshwara Temple, stands in a courtyard flanked by four smaller temples and a Shivling. Besides, there are other minor shrines in every corner of the courtyard. Two interesting images are found inside this temple: a well-oiled image of Lakshmi, covered in cloth, and a miniature image of Nataraja sitting on a bull and playing a Veena.

Outside the city limits are the Udayagiri and Khandgiri caves, harking back to the time of Jain and Buddhist occupation of this region in the 2nd century BC. The Jain caves are among the earliest in India and all the caves were built or excavated during the 150 years before Christ. Sibasagar: Situaterd 369 Kms east of Guwahati Sivasagar erstwhile Rangpur is full of historic relice. Bearing testimony of 600 years of Ahom rule. Rangpur became THE 4TH Capital of Ahom Kingdom. The name of the town and the district originated from the Sivsasagar Tank and temples.

Rang Ghar: An antique two storied imposing structure the Rang Ghar ‘Rang’ means enjoyment ang ‘Ghar’ means house in Assamese languagehappened to be the royal sports pavilion lile wrestling, bird fight, buffalo fight etc of the Ahom Kings. It was constructed by the 34th Ahom king Pramatta Singha in 1746.

Tolatol Ghar: Originally constructed by the Ahom king Rudra Singha in 1699 the present palace made of bricks and indigenous type of cement constructed by King Rajeswar Singha in 1751-69. Known as the seven storied Kareng Ghar of which four were over ground and remaining three were underground, it was the Capital and the military station of the Ahom kings.

Shiva Dole: The Shiva Dole, Vishnu Dole and Devi Dole constructed by second queen of Shiva Singha known as Ambika in 1734. This reputed to be the tallest Shiva Temple in North East India. The Shiva Dole 180 feet in height and 195 feet in diameter caped by seven feet height golden dome.

Shivasagar Tank Barpukhuri: Constructed by second queen of Shiva Singha queen Ambika in 1734, covers an area of 129 acres. The water level of the tank never changes and remains above the level of the town all the time.

Kareng Ghar The Gargaon Palace: The original structure had been made of wood and stones. In 1747 King Pramatta Singha constructed the brick wall of about 5 kms.The present surviving Brick palace was rebuilt by king Rajeshwar Singha in 1752.

Later drive to Jorhat.

Jorhat: The name “JORHAT” or “JOREHAUT” delived from two hats or markets which subsist on the two banks of the river Bhogdoi during the 18th Century, Jorhat was the last capital of the Ahom Kingdomerstwhile ”Rangpur”. This flourishing town was completely destroyed by the Burmese invasions in1817 till the arrival of the British in 1824 under the leadership of David Scott and Captain Richard.
There are about 135 Tea Gardens in and around Jorhat.

Jairampur: It is the headquarter of Jairampur sub-division. The famous and historic ‘Stilwell Road’ passing through this small town from Ledo, Assam, India to Kunming, Yunnan Province, China via Burma. The World War II cemetery of about 1,000 graves of Allied Soldiers is located 6 Km away from Jairampur at the Nampong road.

Afternoon visit: World War II Cemetery: The recently unearthed large Burial-ground with about 1,000 graves of allied soldiers believed to be mostly of Chinese, Kachins, Indian, British and Americans soldiers who died in Second World War is located at Stilwell Road Ledo Road in the Jairampur-Nampong road, 6 km from Jairampur town, 39 km from Ledo and 24 Km before reaching Pangsau Pass Hell Pass , India – Burma Myanmar border. The hidden cemetery covered with thick jungles midst of the bank of Namchik River. The Army has cleared the area and found about 1,000 graves within an area of about three acre. The boundary was enclosed by concrete posts with entrance on three sides. The graves are arranged in five Lines and several rows with a large grave, possibly a mass burial in the centre. The bricks were from Ledo AR&T Co’s brick fields, and others marked as B&C-119 and IR.N!C9 were being used.

Day 02 Jairampur-Digboi (By Road) (58 Kms / 01 hrs 30 min appx)

Digboi: Digboi is the cradle the two modern wonders of the world– a hundred year old oil-field still producing and the world’s oldest operating oil refinery. Digboi is situated in Tinsukia District, at a distance of about 30 kms from Tinsukia town and about 522 kms from Guwahati. Digboi is the first Asian place where oil was found in 1889 and oil has been commercially produced since 1901.

Afternoon visit: Digboi Centenary Museum: The Digboi Centenary Museum is a life gesture of the centenary celebration of Digboi Refinery which showcases the history of oil exploration in Asia. The museum offers a rich collection of machines, visuals, scale-models and photographs. The museum was inaugurated on 4th January, 2002. The IOC Indian Oil Corporation authorities have taken much pain to put the entire place in order, just beside the historic Discovery Well No. 1, unbelievably, crude oil continues to stream out naturally within a corner of the museum complex.

Digboi Centenary Environment Park: Another beautiful place of the town is The Digboi Centenary Environment Park, which is near the main entrance to the refinery. This park is a combination of nature’s beauty and Mans’ God’s gifted brain skill. This Park covers an area of 40,000 sq mtrs, this area also covers mesmerizing natural ponds and waterfall. There are the honeymoon bridges from where one would never want to leave. The hanging bridge above the huge pond with the elegant site of a dozen ducks swimming in there make the park more than attractive for young people. The green grass and the blessed flowers in the park rejuvenate life to the elders too. Other attractions of the park are the four fiber glass boats, where visitors can avail of the facility to fulfill its desires for a carefree life.
Margherita: 14 kms east of Digboi, this is the centre of Tea Gardens, Plywood factories and coal mines. There are a number of coal mines and locomotive railway engines aging about 100 years.

It is the home of Mammals like Elephant, Tiger, leopard, Sambar,Barking deer, Hog Deer, Wild Boar,Gaur, slow loris,gaplangur,Burmese ferret badger, and over 350 species of birds including White-winged Wood Duck, Ibisbill uncommon, Ruddy Kingfisher, Palla’sfishing eagle,Lesser Adjutant stork , Greater spotted eagle,Rufous necked hornbill, Great pied Indian hornbill, Wreathed hornbill, Long-billed Ringed Plover, Sultan Tit, and Yellow-bellied and White-throated Fantails.

Another important wild life sanctuary of Arunachal Pradesh The Pakhui Pakke wild life Sanctuary adjoins the Park on its North-Eastern point. The river Jia- Bhoroli and its tributaries namely the Diji, Dinai, Doigurung, Nameri, Dikorai, Kharietc crisscross the park. During rainy season A few jheels during the rainy seasons also dot the area. One can enjoy rafting in the Jia Bhoroli river in the south western boundary.

Bhalukpong: Situated on the Assam-Arunachal border, 250 kms from Guwahati, Bhalukpong is another picturesque spot for angling and leisurely picnics.

Tipi Orchid Sanctury and Research Center: An Orchidarium at Tipi 5 kms from Bhalukpong on the way to Bomdila is the Botanical paradise. About 300 species of orchids can be seen in the flora – glass house. Some of them are rare and endangered species. By the side of the glass house there is an orchid museum too.

Bomdila: On the way to Tawang , situated at height of 8500 ft distance from Tezpur 180 kms, Bomdila is a picturesque town in the foothills of Himalayas and the headquarter of West Kameng District the land of the Monpa, Sherdukpen, Aka Hrusso, Miji and Bogun Khawas tribes. One can see the brilliant landscape and snow-clad Gorichen ranges of the Himalaya on a clear day. With its apple orchards, Buddhist gomphas and a magnificient view of the Kameng Valley Bomdila can be named as a mini paradise. Bomdila is also an ideal place for nature lovers with several trekking and hiking trails are now opened for the adventure seeker.

Bomdila Monastery: The monastery has been built under the guidance of Dalai Lama. It is a residence of more than 200 Buddhist monks. Also visit craft center, where very fine wooden carpets of colourful designs and Masks are produced.

Day 04 Bomdila – Tawang (By Road) (170 kms / 05 hrs 48 min appx.)

Jaswant Garh: The war memorial is located 14 kms from Sella Pass on the way to Tawang. The memorial pay homage to Jaswant Singh Rawat, Mahavir Chakra Awardee posthumous the second highest award from the Indian Army. In the famous battle of Nuranang against Chinese in November 1962, Rawat and two other soldiers from 4th Batallion Garhwal Rifles were instrumental in killing 300 Chinese soldiers in 72 hours.

Sella Pass: The entry point into the Tawang Valley is Sela pass at an elevation of 13700 ft above the sea level.. Legend says that a monpa woman supported sepoy Jashwant Singh during his battle with the Chinese. She brought sepoy Jashwant supplies and used to heal his wounds. When Jashwant got martyrdom she killed herself as an act of loyalty.
The glimpse of Paradise Lake in the Sella Pass makes your visit worth. Most of the time the lake is covered with thick blanket of snow.

Day 05 Twang
After Breakfast Proceed to explore Tawang, visiting Tawang Monastery Vihar: Tawang Monastery about 400 years old, situated at an altitude of approximately 10,000 ft. is the second largest Buddhist monastery in India. It also holds the distinction of being the birthplace of the 6th Dalai Lama. The monastery is the house of more than 700 monks.

The monastery was founded by Merag Lama Lodre Gyamtso, in 1681 in accordance to the wishes of the 5th Dalai Lama, Nagwang Lobsang Gyatso. As per the legend, the site of the Monastery was chosen by the horse of Merag Lama. Merag Lama, who had been unable to decide a site to establish the monastery. One day he was praying in cave, seeking a divine guidance. When he came out after the prayers, he found his horse was missing.

On search, the horse was located standing quietly on a hilltop. Considering that as the sign of divine blessing he decided to construct the monastery at the very spot. The monastery is also called Galden Namgey Lhatse meaning celestial paradise. There is a magnificent 8 meter high statue of Lord Buddha. The ancient library inside the courtyard has an excellent collection of thangkas, painted with the blood from the nose of 5th Dalai Lamaand valuable Buddhist manuscripts mainly Kanjur and Tanjur numbering 850 bundles.

Urqelling Monastery: It is the birthplace of the 6th Dalai Lama who is the only Indian to have risen to such a high position in Gelupka Sect of Buddhism so far. Inside the monastery there are several Stupas Vihar and people from all walks of life visit this place during Buddhist new year to get the blessing for the coming year.
The Craft Center: The craft center in Tawang sells beautiful masks, hand woven carpets, jewellery in silver, coral and amber, ‘chubas’ the local dressand delightful affordable mementos.

Tawang War Memorial: The memorial is dedicated to the martyrs of the 1962 Sino-Indian war. The memorial is 40-foot-high and like a stupa in design. It is locally called ‘Namgyal Chortan’. The names of 2420 martyrs imprinted in gold on 32 black granite plagues.

Sangestser Lake: Popularly known as Madhuri Lake is located 35 kms away from Tawang near the China Border. The drive to Sangestser Lake is full of thrill and one can still see the war bankers that had been used during the Chinses aggression in 1962 and the beautiful PTSO lake. Overnight at hotel.

Day 06 Twang -Dirang (By Road) (129 kms / 04 hrs 22 min appx.)
After Breakfast Depart for Dirang. En route stop at the Nuranang falls. Arrive Dirang and check in at the hotel.

Dirang: Dirang 40 kms from Bomdila is situated at an altitude of 1497 meters. It is an ideal hill resort in West Kameng district with beautiful Apple Nursery, Kiwi Farm, Yak Research Centre, Buddhist Gompa, Hot Water Spring and ancient Dirang Jong Fort. Itanagar: The Capital of Arunachal Pradesh, Itanagar is situated at the foothills of Himalayas. The name Itanagar is derived from the historical Ita-fort Ita meaning brick which dates back between 14th and 16th century. The major tribe in Itanagar is the Nishies. Situated on the top of the hills the city offers a very pleasant climate. The Capital city is being divided into two zones by 10 kms Stretch. The other part is known as Naharlagun. It became the Capital of Arunachal Pradesh on 20th April 1974.

Ita fort: The historical Itafort situated in the middle of the town. It is an fort of irregular shape built with more than 8 million pieces of bricks. The fort has been built during Jitari Dynasty which dates back to 1360 to 1550 A.D.

Ganga Lake: Situated in the foothills of the Himalays the lake is locally known as Gekar Sinyi confined water

One can also visit Jawaharlal Nehru State Museum, Craft Centre, Emporium, Donyi – Polo Centre for hearing impaired etc.

After Breakfast visit Tarin, the high altitude fish farm, a famous whispering pine grove and the craft center. From a hill top, catch the first rays of dawn lighting up the stunning emerald patchwork quilt of nature.

Later visit Talley Valley: Tally valley is located 30 Kms away from Ziro. Tale in Apatani dialect is the name of a plant and to many other tribes the word means paradise. The local population grow paddy in tarraced fields all over the valley. The Apatanis, the main tribe of this region grow rice by terrace farming and their indigenous irrigation system is unique amongst the Arunachal tribals. The Apatani village comprises of long rows of houses with a fertility totem in front of each house. They use an indigenous herbal salt that’s rice in iodine whick is quite unique. As a real nature lover, for every tree they fell, five fresh saplings are planted. The Apatani women are very skilled in handicraft and handloom as one can be see from the wonderfull JIKHE pattern, woven jackets and intricately patterned JILANG shawls. The men are expert in metallurgy and bamboo craft.

Day 12 Ziro – Daporizo (By Road) (167 kms / 05 hrs 35 min appx.)

Daporizo: Daporizo is a district headquarter of Upper Subansiri District. It is a beautiful place on the right bank of Subansiri river with picturesque villages and also to see are the cavesa few kms away. Languages spoken here are Tagin, Hill Miri, AdiGallong, Hindi, Assamese and English.

Pasighat: The district headquarter of East Siang district, the oldest administrative center of erstwhile NEFA, situated on the bank of mighty river Siang, the main tributary of Brahmaputra and bounded by snow-clad peaks, rocky mountains, virgin floral and faunal diversity. This region is the home of the Adi tribe who are remembered for their colourful Ponung dance.

Later visit: Kekar Monying Black Rock: It is one of the important memorials of the State eracected in memory of Adis who fought with the british at this site on 4 th December 1911 and who died a heroic death.

Komsing: The British had eracected the epitaph/ memorial stone of Sir Neol Williamson killed by Narmi Manmur Jamoh.

Dr. Daying Ering Wildlife Sanctuary: A rich habitant of many unique plants, birds and wild animals such as hog deer, hispid, hare, Bengal lioricans, raptors and migratory water birds.

Mouling National Park: Situated in the Upper Siang district, covering an area of 483 sq kms, is a home of the rarest wild animals such as Takins, Serow, Goat, Clouded Leopard, Black Bear, Leopard, Red Panda etc. During winter large number of migratory birds are seen in this park.

Mon: Situated at an altitude of 897.64 meters it is the land of the Konyaks One of the fiercest tribes in the world. Even though there is a legal administrative system, but actually it is ruled by tribal chiefs called Anghs locally known as ‘Wang’ meaning the beginning of everything. Mon is the only district in Nagaland to have this unique institution of Anghship. The word of his is law in these parts. His succession is hereditary in nature.The Konyaks believe that they were direct descendants of Noah, for they have Biblical names like Mosa, Kaisa, Aron and so on. The konyaks are famous for their tattooed faces , blackened teeth and barbaric practice of Headhunting.

Chui village: Located about 8 kms away from Mon town on the Tuensang – Mon road Chui village still preserves its old charm. One can see the Konyak traditional houses built with palm leaves roofing with protruding out the main pillars. Chui is also famous for ethnic craftsmanship. Day 17 Mon – Longwa – Mon (By Road) (32 kms / 01 hrs 10 min – One Way)
After Breakfast Excursion to Longwa, which is 42 Kms from Mon. 3 hrs drive

Longwa Regarded as one of the biggest villages in Mon the unique feature of Longwa is it shares the international boundary of Myanmar and India Half of the chief Angh’s house falls in the Indian side and the other half falls in Myanmar. The Angh takes his food in India and sleeps in Myanmar’s territory. Even though there is a village council to administers the village, the Angh’s word is conclusive.

Day 18 Mon – Mokokchung (By Road) (153 kms / 06 hrs 30 min appx.)
After Breakfast Depart for Mokokchung, the headquarters of Ao Nagas. It is situated at an altitude of 1325 metres above the sea level.

Mokokchung: Situated at an altitude of 4347 feet, Mokokchung is the home of the Ao Naga tribe. According to the legends the Aos sprung up from “Longtrok” which means “six stones”. In the past, Mokokchung was one of the preliminary locations in the Naga Hills, where the British had established their presence in the late 19th century. Later on, arrival of Christian missionaries to Mokokchung had brought a different image in the field of education and today it is having the highest literacy in the state with an average literacy rate of 84 %.

Arrive Mokokchung and drive to the beautiful modern village of Mopungchuket and check in at the small but beautiful lodge constructed and maintained by the village youth of Mopungchuket.

Day 19 Mokokchung
After Breakfast visit

Mopungchuket Village: 20 kilometers from Mokokchung, Mopungchuket is a modern village and the center of missionary activities. The village is famous for the two lovers Jina and Itiben. A library cum museum has been constructed and maintained by the village youth which is having a good collection of books regarding the history and the culture of the Nagas. Some efforts have been taken to construct the Morungs, Bachelor’s dormitory carve the Time Pillar and to preserve some artifacts in the village museum.
Longkhum village: Situated at an altitude of 1846 meters Longkhum village is a forefront village with a primitive history of headhunting. The Aos believe that Longkhum is the resting place of the dead spirit onward journey to the heaven. Few people of this village still believe in the animistic religion and still worship their god “Longlanpa Tsungrem”. The villagers are very friendly in nature and they feel proud to showcase their rich handicrafts and handlooms to the visitors. Overnight at hotel.

Day 20 Mokokchung – Kohima (By Road) (148 kms / 05 hrs 15 min appx.)
After Breakfast Depart for Kohima, the state capital and the hill station which is situated at an altitude of 1444.12 metres.

Kohima is derived from the word “Kew Hi Ma” which means the men of the land where the flower Kew Hi grows. Situated at an altitude of 1444 m above sea level, Kohima is the Capital of Nagaland. Like other Naga settlement Kohima shares the same feature standing on top of the surrounding mountains. In true sense, fusion of different culture with a blend of modernasim turns Kohima to a fast growing city.

Arrive Kohima and check in at Japhu Hotel.

The Kohima War Cemetary:

“When You Go Home, Tell Them Of Us And Say,
For Your Tomorrow, We Gave Our Today”

Constructed in the memory of the officers and soldiers who made supreme sacrifices during World War II, the war cemetery attracts hundreds of visitors every year including the relatives of those martyrs. Maintained by the Commonwealth War Graves Commission, the cemetery witnessed more than 2000 graves, on each grave there are beautiful epitaphs carved in bronze.

Kohima village: Popularly known as Bara Basti Big Village the Kohima village is one of the largest village in Asia. Inhabited mainly by the Angami tribes it is divided into ‘khels’ or localities. A large traditional wooden gate welcomes you to the village which is elaborately carved with warriors and weapons and the skull of the mithun, a symbol of prosperity.

Khonoma Green Village: Located 21 kms away from Kohima town the Khonoma village is the first “green village” of Nagaland. The village is well known for the legendary leader Angami Zapu Phizo who was the founder of the Naga movement. It is in this place where the Naga warriors made their last endeavor against the British aggression in 1879.’Khonoma Nature Conservation and Tragopan Sanctuary’ KNCTS was initiated to create the environmental awareness among the inhabitants and reserved about 70 sq km of its village forest. The village is also famous for the fallow management of its alder trees which balances nature in the surrounding areas.

Tuephema Tourist Village: Lying between Mokokchung and Kohima highway Tuephema is a unique village resort in the midst of blue hills. It is a good example of eco and rural tourism where one can experience modern and hygienic accommodations in the traditional huts in an ethnic setting. The local villagers show cases their culture through traditional dances and ethnic foods including rice beer. Overnight at hotel.

Day 22 Kohima – Kaziranga (By Road) (208 kms / 05 hrs 30 min appx.)
After Breakfast Depart for Kaziranga National Park.

Kaziranga National Park: Kaziranga National Park has become synonymous with successful conservations of Great One Horn Rhinoceros from the Greek word, “rhino” means nose and “ceros” means horn / Unicornis from the Latin word, “uni” means one and “cornis” also means horn and also a home of may other threatened species including Indian Elephant Elephant Maximus, TigerPanthera tigris, Hoolock Gibbon Bunipithecus hoolock, Ganges dolphin Platanista gangetica,Sambar Cervus unicolor, Barasingha or Swamp Deer duvauceli, Hog Deer, Indian Muntjac Muntiacus muntjak, Water Buffalo Bubalus bubalis and Gaur Bos frontalisetc.

There are also over 500 species of birds have been recorder in the park including 25 specis of globally threatened category. Over and above ther are 21 rare and endangered species. In winter one can observe a large breeding population of Spot Bill Pelicans about one thousand breeding nests are found in a place which has been named as Pelican Colony in the Eastern Range.

Among the reptiles species like Water Monitor Lizard Varanus salvator, Indian python Python molurus, Cobra Naja naja and the King Cobra are found.

Early morning enjoy the elephant safari in the central Kohora range of Kaziranga. Later return to the resort for breakfast.

Day 24 Kaziranga – Guwahati (By Road) (225 kms / 04 hrs 22 min appx.)
After Breakfast Depart for Guwahati. Arrive Guwahati and check in at hotel.

Previously it was known as Pragjyotishpur The City of the eastern Light Guwahati is the fast growing premier city and it is also the gateway to the North Eastern states of India.This city subsequently got the name Guwahati Guwa-means beetlenut and Hat –means market in Assamese

Afternoon visit: Kamakhya Temple: The origin of Kamakhya Temple is pre Aryan situated atop the Nilachal Hill. The formost shrine of Assam, The Kamakhya is an ancient seat of Tantric and shakti Cults of Hinduism. The original temple was destroyed by the invading Muslims in their crusade against Hindu temples and idols in the early part of 16th century. Ultimately it was restored from ruins by King Naranarayan of the Koch dynasty and rebuilt in its present forming 1665 AD.

Shankardev Kalakshetra: a place where Assamese history and culture is depicted in a sprawling open enclosure. It has a beautiful museum where they preserved the masks these masks are made in Majuli island, the traditional dresses and jewellery of the entire North East India. A Namghar Assamese prayer Hall and an open air theatre has been constructed to perform the plays and other cultural activities during festivals.
