Day 02: Kathmandu
Kaag Tihar/Crow Day, worshiping crows
On the first day of Tihar Festival, people will offer rice to the crows, “the messenger of death”. These crows are busy all year round, and only have this day to rest. It is important to ensure that the crows are happy, otherwise they will inform the bad news, and bad things would happen in the coming year.

Day 03: Kathmandu
Kukur Tihar/Dog Day, thanking dogs
The second day of Tihar Festival is called as Kukur Tihar. On this day, Nepalis will honor dogs for they believe that the dog can guarantee the souls of the dead to get to heaven. People usually wear dogs with Tihar Tika and calendula garlands, and then treat them with a fancy dinner. In Nepal, the dog plays an important role as “the gatekeeper of death”, which is said to lead the deceased across the river of death in the underworld. On Kukur Tihar, Nepalese policemen will present beautiful garlands to the patrol dogs and paint their foreheads in red cinnabar to thank for their contributions in social security.

Day 04: Kathmandu
Gai Tihar and Laxmi Puja, honoring cow and the goddess of wealth
On the third day of Tihar Festival, Nepalese often worship cows and Laxmi, the goddess of wealth. This day is also the most important holiday in the festival. People would get up early and clean the room thoroughly. Hence, they start to thank cows. After a cozy bath, those cows will wear red Tika and beautiful wreaths, with holy strings from the priest tied to their tails.

When the night falls, dazzling candles, oil lamps and bright lights are lit up at the doors, steps, even on the roof. All the Nepalis will make their home as luminous as possible to attract Laximi’s attention. If the day happens to be Saturday, shops and stores won’t follow the traditional practices and keep open to welcome the goddess of wealth. At this moment, Nepalis kids won’t be idle. They come to visit neighbors in small groups and sing Tihar songs like Bhailo and Deusi for blessings. In return, the house owner give them money, fruit and sweets.

Day 05: Kathmandu
Under different cultural background, people will honor different things on the fourth day of Tihar. As ox is an indispensable helper for the farmer, people will perform Goru Puja for ox. Considered as the representative of Govardhan Mountain, cow dung is worshiped in Govardhan Puja. In addition, this day is also seen as the beginning of the new year for Newar community in Kathmandu valley. All the Newarians will reunite for this festival and perform Mha Puja to worship themselves.

On this day, the elder father would draw two geometric figures. One is painted for blessing the whole family and the other is dedicated to the death of Yama and his messenger. Then all the members will have a special family feast and enjoy some lucky food, like boiled eggs, fried fishes, tasty desserts, etc. After the grand banquet, they’ll take turns to worship the death of Yama Panchak and exchange Tihar gifts with each other to pray for good luck in the next year.

Day 06: Kathmandu – Pokhara (By Road) (195 Kms. / 4H 40M appx.)
After breakfast, drive to Pokhara.

Pokhara is a city on Phewa Lake, in central Nepal. It’s known as a gateway to the Annapurna Circuit, a popular trail in the Himalayas. Tal Barahi Temple, a 2-story pagoda, sits on an island in the lake. On the eastern shore, the Lakeside district has yoga centers and restaurants. In the city’s south, the International Mountain Museum has exhibits on the history of mountaineering and the people of the Himalayas.

Day 07: Pokhara
Early morning excursion to Sarangkot.
Return back to Pokhara.
Afternoon: Boat ride at Pehwa Lake.
Free time to stroll local bazaar.
Overnight in Pokhara.

Sarangkot is the most popular tourist destination from where the tourists can enjoy the great view of the Pokhara Valley and the magnificent view of the mountains such as Annapurna Massif, Fishtail Mountain, Dhaulagiri range, and Manaslu. Sarangkot is only 5 km from Lake Side from Pokhara and highest view point at 1592m high for Sunrise and Sunset view over the snowy peaks. Sarangkot can be reached easily by 45 minutes by a car ride to the top from Pokhara and then 45 minutes hike up to the main view point.

Day 08: Pokhara – Chitwan (By Road) (115 Kms. / 3H 30M appx.)
In the morning straight drive to Chitwan, on arrival check in to the resort. After freshen up and relax get ready to visit Chitwan national Park it is one of the famous for its one-horned Rhinoceros, crocodile and Royal Bengal Tiger. Enjoy thrilling Jeep or Canter Safari with a experienced naturalist. Return to resort for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 09: Chitwan
After tea coffee get ready to visit Royal Chitwan National Park where you will have an opportunities to enjoy various jungle activities such as nature walk and bird watching. Chitwan is a paradise for nature lovers and nature walkers. You can enjoy thrilling elephant safari in Chitwan which is also UNESCO world heritage site. During safari you can spot many wildlife species such as Mugger crocodile, Bengal Tiger, one-horned Rhino etc. In the evening proceed to cultural tour to visit Tharu Village and explore the beauty of sun-set at river side. Later have dinner and stay overnight in hotel.

Day 10: Chitwan – Kathmandu (By Flight)
In the early morning after tea coffee, enjoy bird watching with an expert naturalist. Return to resort for breakfast and then drive to Bharatpur airport for flight to Kathmandu.
On arrival, explore Thamel market and cultural dance show with dinner.

Early breakfast and transfer to the train station to board the train from the Airport Railway Station. The journey to Sreemangal departs at 07:03 AM.

We arrive at Sreemangal around 12:00 PM and will be transferred to your hotel.
After check-in, freshen up and have your lunch at the cottage dine in.

Following lunch, get ready to experience the tea garden (Cha Bagan), Lemon and Pineapple orchards, Rubber garden, and Tribal village (Adibasi Gram).

Day 2: Lhasa
Sightseeing in Lhasa, Potala Palace, Jokhang Temple and Barkor Street
In the morning your guide and driver will meet you at hotel lobby and drive you to the Potala this majestic palace, the land mark of Tibet, the first construction ever built in Lhasa by the most well known and outstanding Tibetan king Tsongtsen Gambo in seventh century as his residence and central government official. And in seventeenth century the fifth Dalailama began to extend it into current style. It is listed into the UNESCO’s World Heritage in December 1994. More than three hours visiting outside and inside the palace, you will learn all detail history about the palace by your guide.

After marvelous visiting and climbing hundreds of stairs there, your driver will pick you up at the exit of Potala and transfer you to local restaurant near by Jokhang, you will feel bit exhausted and tired but no matter you can have good relax during the lunch time and ask for your guide to order a glass of Ginger Lemon Tea+honey that will give you more energy and feel fresh again.

Sightseeing in Lhasa, Drepung Monastery and Sera Monastery
Today your guide will take you to Drepung Monastery once the world’s largest monastery with about 10,000 attending monks and the home of second till fifth Dalailama. The main attraction there will be a huge assembly hall that could accommodate more than 5,000 monks once in the previous time, if you are lucky, you will have a chance to see the monks’ prayer meeting inside the assembly hall and a huge kitchen that you will have ever seen where it provides thousands of monks daily meals and it still keeps in traditional style.

After having quick lunch not in that kitchen, drive to Sera the second largest monastery in Lhasa where you will enjoy to see a very exciting monks’ debate on Buddhist philosophy same mode practice of ancient Indian philosophers did thousand years ago, what more, you will visit sand mandalas the Buddhist Cosmology and printing house where they publish the sutras and mantras in very traditional way by stamping from wooden blocks, you can also buy small old type sutras blessed by monks.

Day 4: Lhasa /Yamdrok Lake /Karola Glacier /Palchoe Monastery /Gyangtse
Drive to Gyangtse(250 km) via Yamdrok Lake and Karola Glacier and Palchoe Monastery
Today you drive to Gyangtse one of the most well known towns in Tibet. It’s not so long drive but full of highlighted scenic spots on the way, such as Yamdrok Yumtso the turquoise color like lake is the third largest holy lake in Tibet, Karola Glacier of Mount Nochen Kangsang 7,300m which is a branch range of the Himalaya is just 400m away from you, by the mountain road the artificial lake of Manak dam is isolated from special geographical feature like in the moon will make your journey even more exciting.

In Gyangtse late afternoon, you will visit one of the oldest monastery called Palchoe and Kubum pagoda the largest pagoda in Tibet, what more you can explore further in Gyangtse old town.

Day 5: Gyangtse – Shigatse (By Road) (93 Km / 1 hrs 50 min)
Gyangtse to Shigatse and visit Tibetan family and see the New Year Festival
In the morning hike up the Gyangtse Castle one of the oldest castle in Tibet, from there you will see whole panoramic view of Gyangtse old town and Palchoe monastery, then drive to Shigatse, on the way visit Tibetan villages to enjoy their annual New Year Festival. People are very friendly and welcome hospitality to you. With local villagers you can drink their homemade barley beer, singing and dancing with them in full afternoon to experience the real life style and culture.

Day 6: Shigatse – Lhasa (By Road) (273 Km / 4 hrs 34 min)
Visit Tashi Lhunpo Monastery then drive back to Lhasa.
Today you will visit Tashi Lhunpo the largest monastery in Tsang area of Tibet autonomous region which is also the home of successive Panchen Lamas. After about two hours visiting, drive back to Lhasa along the friendship way passing through Nyimo Canyon one of the deepest canyon of Yarlung Tsangpo river/ Barmaputra. Day 4: Sightseeing around Lhasa and Ganden Monastery
Today you are most luckily to have a great opportunity to participate one of the most important annual religious ceremony in Lhasa and Ganden Monastery called “Gaden Ngachoe Chenmo” which means a Great 25th Day Ritual of the tenth month according to Tibetan lunar calendar,because that is the day of anniversary when Je Tsongka’s Parinirvana one of the greatest Buddhist masters in Tibetan history who reformed Tibetan Buddhism and established Geluk tradition.

In the morning drive about 50 km away from Lhasa to Ganden Monastery the home of Tsongkapa master to attend the ceremony with local pilgrims. The main attractions there will be a huge Tangkha/scroll painting of master Tsongkapa carried by 50/60 monks with chanting and special religious instruments outside the monastery and display it on a big wall to commemorate the lord Tsongkapa’s parinirvana, thousands of devoted pilgrims pay homage and offer Kadaks/white scarfs pray for themselves, their relatives and all the sentient beings on this planet. You can also do a small hiking around Ganden Kora/cercuit with gorgeous panoramic view of upper Lhasa valley.

Drive back to Lhasa in late afternoon and have a short break in hotel or you can do your own free sightseeing in local market near your hotel.

After dinner in the evening your guide will bring you back to Jokhang Temple and Barkor Street to see how Tibetans commemorate this Holy Day. Full of Jokang temple, around Barkor including every single living quarters of Tibetans are covered by butter lamps the “light of wisdom”.

Day 2: Lhasa Tour – Potala Place, Johkang Temple, Barkor Street
Today’s tour will first bring you to the Potala Palace which is the winter palace of the Dalai lama. It was put to use since the 7th Century by the 33rd great king of Tibet. The most valuable collections of Potala Palace are the gilded burial stupas of former Dalai Lamas and meditation Cave of the 33rd great king of Tibet.

Then after lunch, tourists head to Jokhang Temple which was founded by the 33rd great king of Tibet in the 7th century, in order to promote the Buddhist religion. Inside you can see the statue of Buddha Sakyamuni at the age of twelve, perhaps the only most venerated object in Tibetan Buddhism. Around the temple is Barkhor street where you can do kora (a religious circle of a building or mountain) with pilgrims and locals, in the meantime you can buy souvenirs.

Day 3: Lhasa Tour – Drepung and Sera Monastery
In the morning ,you are going to visit Drepung monastery which is one of the “great three” Gelug monasteries of Tibet, founded in 1416 by Jamyang choge, one of the Tsongkhapa’s main disciples. Ganden palace used to be Dalai lama’s palace in the Drepung before he moved to the Potala palace.

In the Afternoon, Tourists will visit Sera Monastery which is another one of the “great three” Gelug monasteries of Tibet, founded in 1419 by Jamchen Chojey, one of the Tsongkhapa’s main disciples. The hot attraction is the Monks debate at around 3 – 5 in the afternoon.

Day 4: Lhasa – Gyantse – Shigatse (360 km)
We will leave Lhasa for Yamdrok Lake through Gambala Pass (4780m) after breakfast. Yamdrok Lake is one of the three most famous holy lakes in Tibet. It covers an area of 638 square kilometers with an altitude of 4441 meters. The landscapes of mountains and lakes here tops in southern Tibet.

Then we will set out for Shigatse, via Karo-la Glacier and make a visit to Palkhor Monastery in Gyantse on the way to Shigatse, which is the biggest city in Tsang and Tibet’s second largest city.

Day 5: One Day Tour for Tashilunpo Festival
We will make a visit to Tashilhunpo Monastery and experience the Buddha Exhibition Festival in the morning. The Buddha Exhibition in Tashilhunpo Monastery has a history of more than 500 years and is different from Buddha exhibitions in other monasteries. The Buddha Exhibitions in Tashilhunpo and Drepung are most famous and solemn ceremonies in Tibet.

The Buddha Exhibition Festival of Tashilhunpo Monastery lasts from May 14 to May 16 in Tibetan Calendar. Thousands of Buddhism followers would come here to show their respects to the Buddha and tourists can watch the grand Buddha Thangka unfolding which lasts for two days and many pilgrims would do the religious circling around the gigantic Buddha and Tashilunpo monastery.

In the afternoon, we will tour to the local market to experience the daily life of the local people. Then we will tour to the new palace of Panchen Lamas. Both of them are near the Tashilhunpo.

Day 6: Shigatse – Samye – Tsedang
We will drive to Tsedang after breakfast along the Sino-Nepal Highway. We can appreciate the particular natural landscapes of Yarlung Zangbo River Valley and take ferry to corss Yarlungzongpo River to visit Samye Monastery on the way. The Samye Monastery is the first temple to be built in Tibet and the first complete with the three Buddhist jewels of Buddha, Dharma and Sangha. With these unique features, this splendid temple has become an attraction for visitors from near and far.

Day 7: Tsedang Tour – Yambulakhang Palace and Tadruk Monastery
Tsedang is known as the capital of the ancient Yarlung Kingdom. Today, we drive 7kms to visit Yambulakhang Palace, the first building of Tibet which is built in 2nd century for Tibetan Kings. It is situated on a summit of a small hill on the east bank of the Yarlung River.

Then drive to see the tombs of Tibetan Kings. We also pay a visit to Tradruk Monastery in the afternoon.

Day 8: Departure from Tsedang
Transfer to Lhasa airport (90km, 2 hrs) for your flight to onward destination.

Day 2: Lhasa Tour – Potola Palace, Jokhang Temple and Barkhor Street
In the morning, we are about to visit the famous Potala palace and explore the grandest of this myriad chapels, and you will experience its audience halls, the jeweled and Golden burial chortens (stupa Tombs) of past Dalai Lamas, and tremendous number of Buddhist frescoes, thangkas, combinations of mandala, etc.

In the afternoon, we will tour the holist temple in Tibet, the Johkang Temple, built during Songtsen Gonpo’s reign by princess Wencheng of Tang Dynasty, 647 A.D, and its famous Barkhor Kora (circling around Jokhang temple and Barkhor street) and bargain with vendors for Tibetan souvenirs on Barkhor street.

Day 3: Lhasa Tour – Drepung Monastery and Sera Monastery
Today, you will visit two important monasteries in Lhasa, the Drepung and the Sera. Drepung monastery was situated at the foothill of a mountain and was once home to 10000 monks and Ganden podrang in Drepung was famous for its role as the governmental centre during the fifth dalai lama and later was moved to the famous Potala Palace during the fifth dalai lama.

After having lunch, we continue to visit Sera Monastery founded in 1419 by Tsongkapa’s disciple Jamchen Choeje. The most attractive scene is its monk debate held in the debating courtyard mostly around 3 – 5 in the afternoon.

Day 4: Visit Yamdrok-Tso Lake and Pelkor monastery in Gyantse
Drive across Kambala Pass to the dazzlingly turquoise green Yamdrok-Tso Lake, one of the three great holy lakes in Tibet. After having an eyeful of the stunning scenery, move on to Gyantse, one of Tibet’s most traditional towns. En route you will also enjoy spectacular vistas of Karo-la Glacier roadside at 4960m.

Another important attraction for today is Pelkor monastery, a walled monastery complex in Gyantse. Pelkor monastery is also known for its Kubum, a 35m-high chorten (stupa) with its white layers trimmed with decorative stripes and its crown-like golden dome.

Day 5: Enjoy Gyantse Damar Festival and Nomads’ Trade Fair
Our focus of today is to enjoy the annual Gyantse Damar Festival lasting from April 15 of Tibetan calendar. Considered to be one of Tibet’s most traditional festivals, it offers us a chance to experience Tibetan Buddhism and folklore in an intimate way. Locals from the 19 townships in the Gyangze County gather to celebrate the festival, which also attracts people from everywhere.

Tourists can enjoy wresting, horse racing, shooting contest, etc. It is not only a folk festival but an exchange with a theme of promoting economy through cultural events like exchanging goods in the trade fair etc.

During the festival, nomads will drive their horse carts to bring their families to the annual festival. Some are fond of races, some like to watch performances, while still others will set up stands to sell home-made sweet milk dregs and other products. But most people will stay in their own tents and enjoy themselves until nightfall.

As tourists explore the exotic trade fair, you can also taste highland Tibetan delicacy and collect exquisite handicrafts and other souvenirs.

Day 6: Gyantse to Lhasa via Shigatse
First follow the Nyang River northwest for an hour or so to Shigatse. On the way , we will stop to tour Shalu Monastery renowned as a center of scholarly learning and psychic training, and its ancient and beautiful mural paintings.

Later, we are going to visit Tashilhunpo Monastery, the seat of Panchen Lama (Tibet’s second highest incarnation).

After lunch, start our drive back to Lhasa along the Sino-Nepal Highway for roughly four hours.

Day 7: Depart Lhasa

Day 1: Arrival in Lhasa (3650m)
When you arrive in Lhasa either by train or flight, your guide will greet you and take you to your hotel. Tourists may view the Yarlung Tsangpo River/ Bhamaputra River (the longest and largest river in Tibet) and Lhasa River on their way to Lhasa.

After arriving in Lhasa, you can take a rest and get acclimatized to high altitude. If you feel to go out, then you can go to the Potala Square, where you will enjoy the fountain with different colors and get amazing photos of the Potala and around.

Day 2: Lhasa Tour – Jokhang Temple, Barkhor Street, Drepung Monastery
Today, you will head to the holiest temple in Tibet, the Jokhang Temple. As the center of Saga Dawa Festival in Lhasa, Jokhang Temple is the best place to feel the festival atmosphere. Pilgrims from all directions arrive at this temple in the morning to worship the image of the 12-year-old Buddha, and do Kora inside the hall of Jokhang Temple or around the temple by circling along Barkhor Street.

Beggars and poor pilgrims gather around Jokhang Temple and wait for their donations peacefully, making Saga Dawa Festival also know as “the Poor’s Day”. With a belief that all good deeds are multiplied thousand fold during this festival, people are more generous to offer donations.

Jokhang Temple was founded by the 33rd Great King of Tibet in the 7th century. Inside you can see the statue of Buddha Sakyamuni at the age of twelve. Outside, you can see pilgrims making prostrating in front of Jokhang Temple. Around the temple is Barkhor street, where you can do kora (a religious circle of a building or mountain) with pilgrims and locals, and explore the old market.

We will also visit Drepung Monastery which is one of the “great three” Gelug monasteries of Tibet, founded in 1416 by Jamyang Choje, one of the Tsongkhapa’s main disciples. You can visit the biggest monastery kitchen inside the monastery and enjoy Buddhist Sculpture Carving Workshop near Drepung.

Besides, We can taste Tibetan tea with locals in tea house. The welcome dinner will also be arranged accordingly.

Day 3: Lhasa Tour – Potala Palace, Sera Monastery
Today’s tour will first bring you to the Potala Palace which is the winter palace of the Dalai Lama. It was put to use since the 7th Century by the 33rd Great King of Tibet. The most valuable collections of Potala Palace are the gilded burial stupas of former Dalai Lamas and Meditation Cave of the 33rd Great King of Tibet.

In the afternoon, we will visit Sera Monastery which is another one of the “great three” Gelug monasteries of Tibet. The hot attraction is the Monks Debate at around 3 – 5 in the afternoon. In addition, you can tour the Tibetan religious scripture printing house. Inside the monastery, you can see three Sand Mandalas and colorful Rock Painting of Buddha.

Day 4: Lhasa-Shigatse via Gyantse (360km)
In the morning, drive from Lhasa to Shigatse. On the way, drive over the Gampala Pass (4790m), and you will have a glimpse of Yamdrok-tso (4400m) .The Lake is surrounded by many snow-capped mountains and in the distance you can have spectacular views of Holy Mount Nyenchen Khangsar (7191m), the highest mountain near Lhasa .

Later, we will pass and enjoy the Korola Glacier on the roadside. At Manak Dam Lake, you can hang prayer flags at Simila Mountain Pass. Then, we will arrive in Gyantse, historically Tibet’s third largest city (after Lhasa and Shigatse). In Gyantse, we will visit the famous Pelkor Monastery and Gyantse Kumbum and enjoy the far view of Gyangtse Fortress.

After one and a half hours driving, we arrive in Shigatse, which is the second largest city in Tibet. In Shigatse, we may visit traditional Barley Mill and view the landscape of Barley Field (in summer).

Day 5: Shigatse (3900m) to Everest Base Camp (5200m)
In the morning, we will visit the home of Panchan Lama – Tashilunpo Monastery. Then, we’ll leave Shigatse after getting your Alien’s travel permit, and then drive to Lhatse, a small town where you can have lunch.

After that, we will pass Tsola Pass (4600m), and Gyatsola Pass (5248m). Shortly after we enter Mt. Everest National Nature Reserve, tourists can enjoy the panorama of Himalaya at Gawula Pass (5198m). Then we drive along the new zigzag road to Everest Base Camp (5200m). You can get closer to gaze at the Mt. Everest peak. The sunset of golden Everest peak if time and weather permit at the lodging area.

Day 6: EBC (5200m) and return to Shigatse (3900m)
In the morning, you can see the sunrise of Everest Peak if weather permits at the lodging area. Then we will visit the Rongbu Monastery – the unique highest monastery with nuns and monks living together. Finally, we will drive back to Shigatse.

Day 7: Shigatse (3900m) to Lhasa (3650m) 350km
Today, we will drive back to Lhasa by following Yalong Valley. You can stand on the viewing platform and view the vast Yalong River bed. Finally the guide will transfer you back to your hotels in Lhasa.

Day 8: Depart from Lhasa
Departure transfer to Lhasa airport for flight to onward destination.

Day 1: Arrive in Lhasa
Arrive at Lhasa airport or train station where you will be picked up by our local guide and driver then transfer you to hotel. Main highlights on the way to Lhasa, you will see the biggest river in Tibet called Yarlung Tsangpo or Barmaputra in Indian language, the unique architectural village houses of Tibetan farmers and the first glance of Potala Palace.

Free sightseeing or take a rest in your room in late afternoon to acclimatize. Your guide will give you more detail advice on acclimatization.

Day 2: Lhasa
Sightseeing in Lhasa: the Potala Palace, Jokhang Temple and Barkhor Street
In the morning your guide and driver will meet you at hotel lobby and drive you to the Potala Palace, the land mark of Tibet, the first construction ever built in Lhasa by the most well known and outstanding Tibetan king Tsongtsen Gambo in seventh century as his residence and central government official. And in seventeenth century the fifth Dalai Lama began to extend it into current style. It is listed into the UNESCO’s World Heritage in December 1994. More than three hours visiting outside and inside the palace, you will learn all detailed history about the palace by your guide.

After marvelous visiting and climbing hundreds of stairs there, your driver will pick you up at the exit of Potala Palace and transfer you to local restaurant near by Jokhang Temple, you will feel bit exhausted and tired but no matter you can have good relax during the lunch time and ask for your guide to order a glass of Ginger Lemon Tea+honey that will give you more energy and feel fresh again.

After lunch break, your guide will lead you to Jokhang Temple and Barkhor Street by walk to explore the culture center of Tibet, the heart of Tibetan Buddhism and the main destination of the pilgrims coming from all over the Tibetan territories and the Barkhor Ancient Street with local bazaar and art workshops.

Day 3: Lhasa
Sightseeing in Lhasa: Drepung Monastery and Sera Monastery/ Thangka Painting Display (Shoton Festival)
Today you have a great opportunity to visit the opening ceremony of the most important annual festival in Lhasa called “Shoton” which means “Yogurt Banquet” in Tibetan. The opening ceremony begins from Drepung Monastery and Sera Monastery, the two largest monasteries in Lhasa.

In the very early morning your guide and driver will pick you up and drive to Drepung Monastery to attend the ceremony. With thousands of local pilgrims and tourists, you will luckily see one of the largest embroidered Thangka/scroll painting of Buddha in Tibet. Hundreds of monks and volunteers transfer it to a hillside not far from the monastery and display it on a huge wall, then the monks perform a special religious ritual to open the ceremony, the pilgrims from nomadic area offer fresh Yak Yogurt to the monks and everyone receives blessings from main master of monastery.

In the afternoon you will be driven to Sera Monastery, the second largest monastery to visit another beautiful Grand Thangka and religious ceremony. It’s a very busy day for you but very worth.

Day 4: Lhasa
Sightseeing in Lhasa: Norbulinka/ Summer Palace and Tibetan Opera (Shoton Festival)
Today you will spend the whole day in Norbulinka to see how peopleare enjoy their festival, you will have a great chance to watch the performance of traditional Tibetan opera, join the very friendly local people, their hospitality towards you makes you feel like very close friends, they will serve you free cookies, Yak meat or yogurt sometimes and plenty of their homemade barley beer if you like it.

You will also visit the main residence of the successive Dalai Lamas’ personal residences, guest interview room, meeting rooms, the wall of paintings that tells the general history of Tibet and ancient civilization as well as its unique architectural design and wooden carves.

Day 5: Lhasa – Namtso Lake – Dunxumg/ Yampachen (approx. 350km)
In the morning, drive from Lhasa to Lake Namtso, one of the four holy lakes in Tibet and also the highest saline lake in the world. On the way, you can see snow-capped Nyenchen Thanglha Mountain Ranges and lots of nomads and their tent with grazing yak and sheep densely-populated on the flourishing grassland (in summer). Besides, you can enjoy the view of Sky-Road Railway against the snow mountain background. Standing at the famous Lagenla Pass (5190m), you can view the stunning vista of the holy Namtso Lake.

Then we can enjoy our time to do leisurely trek around Tashi Dor Island and along the lakeshore. Drive back to Dumxung or Yampachen. (For environment protection, the lakeshore guesthouses were closed by the government.)

Day 6: Dunxumg/ Yampachen to Lhasa (approx. 90-160km )
Drive to Yampanchen and enjoy the natural hot spring bath there (Please prepare your own swimming suit). The famous Yangpachen lies on the southern slope of the Nyenchen Tangula Mountains and is famous for its geothermal scenery. Every year, Yangpachen Hot Spring emits heat equal to that of 4.7 million tons of standard coal. Lying in a plateau basin, Yangpachen’s geothermal field covers 40 square kilometers. To take advantage of geothermal field, resorts were built here, giving tourists a chance to enjoy the outdoor natural hot spring spa. After having a thorough relax during the spa, we head back to Lhasa. On the way, we will visit Chimelong Nunnery (Phyirmil Lung Nunnery) and have a far view of the sky burial site nearby.

Cultural Tips: Sky burial is a funeral practice commonly seen in Tibet. The corpse will be disposed of and later devoured by vultures. In Tibetan Buddhism, sky burial is believed to represent their wishes to go to heaven. Only family members of the dead can attend the funeral.

Day 7: Depart from Lhasa
Departure transfer to Lhasa airport for flight to onward destination.

Day 1: Arrival Kathmandu (1334m)
Arrive at Kathmandu airport and transfer to your hotel. Then start your city tour of Kathmandu (this will depend on your flight arrival time) with visit to Durbar Square, site of hanuman Dhoka Palace Complex which was royal residence until 19th century. Continue your tour to visit Bhadgaon which is a conglomeration of pagoda and shikhara style temples grouped around a brick and wood palace of fifty five windows. Overnight stay.

Day 2: Kathmandu – Lukla (2860m) – Phakding (2830m)
Transfer to Kathmandu airport to take a morning flight to Lukla. This is a 35 minutes scenic flight as it will offer you first view of Himalayas which is simply breathtaking. You would fly at approximately 4000 metres and you just imagine that in next days, you would be walking through mountains which are at a greater height than your flight. After arrival at Lukla airport, you will be given a briefing by your guide. Once a tiny settlement, Lukla is now a fairly large town, with many shops and even a couple of internet cafes.

You will then start your trek to Phakding which will take few hours. The trail is spectacular with a number of streams flowing due to melting snow from mountain peaks above and trekking through massive green valleys. You will share trail with other trekkers and locals. Reach at Phakding and overnight stay at lodge.
Trek 2/3 hours

Day 3: Phakding – Namche Bazaar (3480m)
Breakfast at the lodge and get ready for famous trek to Namche Bazaar. This is not so easy trek as you have to go through steep unhill climb consistently besides crossing a number of suspension bridges. The trek follows Dudh Koshi River and you need to cross the river on many Occasions before stopping at Jorsale for lunch. After lunch, you continue the trek for a couple of hours passing through traditional huts and trail surrounded by pines and sharing it with yaks and porters. You will also come across many prayer wheels on the way.

These are protected by wooden shelters which are decorated with intricate artwork dedicated to Buddha. Soon, Namche Bazaar, situated at 3480 metres will appear which gives you a great sense of achievement. You will pass through the plateau which is also the location for famous Saturday bazaar and enter the village which is surrounded by mountains on three sides and Duch Koshi River on one side. Namche Bazaar is a hub of this area where trekkers replenish their stock of food and other essential times. Overnight stay at lodge.

Day 4: Namche Bazaar – Khhumjung (3840m) – Namche Bazaar
Today is the day for acclimatization to prepare yourself to high altitude. But it will be wrong to imagine that it is a rest day. The day is used to get the body used to lower level of oxygen in the air. For this, you need to hike to a high altitude place before returning to lower altitude. Therefore, you will be taken to Khhumjung village on foot. The village is densely populated and gives you an opportunity to enjoy breath taking view of Himalayan peaks including Mount Everest.

The village is home to many Sherpas who are famous for their mountaineering skill and have helped all mountaineers in their expeditions. There is also an old monastery which you will visit before returning to Namche Village. Rest of the day is free to enjoy a drink at friendly bar or a well-deserved massage. Overnight stay at lodge.
Trek – 4/5 hours

Day 5: Namche Bazaar – Tengboche (3890m)
Breakfast at the lodge and get ready to start the trekking with the walk on ridge and flat mountain path. There will be now familiar sight of porters and yaks along the trail which gets narrower and less concrete as you go into the mountains. The trek is steeper than you would have done so far and it is important to go steady. The temperature falls rapidly as you ascend the mountain. You will come across many Stupas, dedicated to Buddha.

The stupas are with four sets of eyes, one in each direction which signify the all-seeing ability of Buddha to see you everywhere. After a flat zigzag walk for few hours, you descend to the river and reach Phunki Tenga and then climb through Rhododendron forest up to Tyangbuche, your final destination for the day which is also home to one of the largest monasteries. Upon arrival, check in at lodge for overnight stay.
Trek – 5/6 hours.

Day 6: Tengboche (Mani Rimdu Festival)
Here you will enjoy Mani Rimdu festival. The festival is celebrated at Tengboche Monastery which has beautiful interiors. The monastery is perched on a hill at an altitude of 3867m. It is on the way to Everest Base Camp and located at the confluence of Dudh Koshi and Imja Khola rivers. This was built by Lama Gulu in 1916 but completely destroyed in 1934 by a massive earthquake. It was rebuilt but again amaged by fire in 1989. The present structure was established by devoted volunteers with international assistance. The monastery plays host to colourful Mani Rimdu festival which lasts for nineteen days.

The festival is a culmination of religious ceremonies, songs, special mask dances which are followed by singing and dancing of Sherpas. The masked dances performed during the festival symbolize mythological events depicting victory of good over evil. During these nineteen days, various ceremonies and Pooja are performed by monks. For the last three days, the festival turns into a Public event. The grand finale of Mani Rimdu begins with Tengoboche Rinpche showering blessings to people. The special mask dance is also performed by the monks of the monastery. Please note that photography is now allowed a few places during ceremonies.

Day 7: Tengboche (Mani Rimdu Festival)
After breakfast, you will be again taken to visit the monastery to enjoy Mani Rimdu Festival. Overnight stay at lodge.

Day 8: Tengboche – Namche Bazaar
After breakfast and having soaked in breath taking sunrise view over Himalayas in the morning, you will start trek from Tengboche to Namche Bazaar. The trail becomes downhill as it goes to the valley where it crosses a river and you again need to climb up. After this, it becomes flat and passes through small settlements. Reach Namche bazaar and overnight stay at lodge.

Day 9: Namche Bazaar – Lukla
After breakfast, get ready for last trekking day of your trip to Lukla. It will be again a pleasant downhill trek except few short uphill climbs then down Bhote-Koshi River which you will cross three times. You will have final uphill climb of 45 minutes to finally reach Lukla. Overnight stay at lodge.

Day 10: Lukla – Kathmandu
After early breakfast at lodge, transfer to Lukla airport to catch flight for Kathmandu. Arrival at Kathmandu airport and then transfer to your hotel. Rest of the day is free to explore Kathmandu on your own or last minute shopping. Overnight stay at hotel.

Day 11: Depart Kathmandu
Transfer to Kathmandu airport to catch flight for onward destination.

Day 1: Arrive Colombo
Arrive Colombo, meet assist at the airport and transfer to the hotel.
Later, city tour of Colombo.
The trade and commercial capital of Sri Lanka. It is located on the west coast and draws together all the cultures, religions and influences of foreign lands into a pot-pourri of sounds, smells and a kaleidoscope of color. Visit impressive Parliament House, designed by celebrated architect, Geoffrey Bawa.

Day 2: Colombo – Dambulla (155 Km / 4 Hours)
Arrival at Colombo airport and transfer to Dambulla. On arrival check in at the hotel. Dambulla is a vast isolated rock mass and it was here that king Valagam Bahu took refuge from invasions in 1st century B.C. and turned the rocks into a cave temple.

Late afternoon visit Golden Cave Temples in Dambulla. Few of its frescoes are over 2000 years old. Another attraction is a gigantic figure of the recumbent Buddha carved out of the living rock which is about 15 metres long. The caves have a combination of religious paintings and sculptures with ceiling frescoes depicting scenes from the Buddha’s life and Sinhalese history. The Temples contain some of the world’s finest ancient Buddhist art.

Day 3: Dambulla – Sigiriya – Polonnaruwa – Dambulla (140 Km / 3 Hours)
After breakfast go for tour of Sigiriya Rock fortress. Sigiriya is also considered to be The 8th wonder of the Ancient World. You will be fascinated setting your eyes upon this strange shaped rock with ruins of a palace and citadel hanging on to its sides. A rusty staircase leads you to a cave gallery that has frescoes of the famous Sigiriya Maidens.

Later drive to Polonnaruwa, the ancient capital of Sri Lanka between 11th and 14th Century. Visit the ruins of temples, palaces and stupas which till date remain in excellent state of preservation. Also visit The Gal Vihare with three huge rockcut images of Buddha. It is known as one of the world’s great masterpieces of sculpture. Enjoy a ride on elephant back in Habarana through the forests and villages. In the evening, return to Dambulla for overnight stay.

Day 4: Dambulla – Kandy (75 Km / 2 Hours)
Morning breakfast at the hotel and then visit a spice garden in Matale on the way to Kandy to see many different types of spices, Sri Lanka is famous for. Later leave for Kandy. Upon arrival check in at the hotel. KANDY, the Hill Capital and last stronghold of the Sinhala Kings is a World Heritage Site which still retains an aura of grandeur. The town is encircled by hills and a serene lake in its centre, it is also site of the renowned temple that enshrines the Tooth Relic of Buddha and the Royal Botanical gardens – considered to be home of one of the world’s best Orchids collection. In the evening, you will enjoy The Kandy festival or The Festival of Tooth which is celebrated for ten days.

It is believed to commemo- rate the first teachings given by Gautam Buddha after he was enlightened. The term “Perahera” means a procession in Sinhalese. During the festival, there is a huge procession of thousands of dancers, musicians, acrobats and other artists who participate in this gala event. The biggest attraction of the procession is also a large number of caparisoned Elephants who accompany these performers in the streets to celebrate this auspicious occasion. The main reason for this event is to receive blessings of God for good rain to ensure good harvest. Overnight stay.

Day 5: Kandy
Morning go for excursion to Pinnawela Elephant Orphanage and Peradeniya Gardens. Its Orchid Houses are special attraction. Pinnawela Elephant Orphanage is Sri Lanka’s unique tourist attraction. It is a wonderful experience to spend a couple of hours in the company of over 70 elephants, the largest herd in the entire world. You can come here for feeding the elephants at 9 am or enjoy see them bath in the Maha Oya River.

Then visit Peradeniya Gardens and Royal Botanical Gardens which are said to be one of the most spectacular gardens in South Asia. The most notable features of the gardens are the Orchid House which houses a collection of over 300 variety of Sri Lankan orchids and spice garden. In the evening get ready to enjoy the grandeur of Kandy festival which will leave you spellbound with its sound, music and rhythm. Overnight stay.

Day 6: Kandy – Nuwara Eliya (120 Km / 4 Hours)
Morning drive to Nuwara Eliya which is situated at an altitude of 1,868m. It was the original Hill Station of the British tea planters who came to Ceylon, as it was then known. It was built during 19th century and its architecture reminds that of an English country town, with red-brick walls. Blessed with salubrious climate, spectacular views of valleys, meadows and mountains; it’s difficult to believe that we are only 180 km away from the hot and humid Colombo.

There is a Grand Hotel, Hill Club and a Golf Course which is the oldest in Asia and even a Race Course – all of which are reminders of an English social life of bygone era which once thrived here. We later depart from Kandy and proceed towards Nuwara Eliya visiting a Tea plantation and Factory to give you an insight of the local tea manufacturing process as well as day to day routine life of local workers there. Arrive at Nuwara Eliya and check in at hotel for overnight stay.

Day 7: Nuwara Eliya – Yala (200 Km / 5 Hours) + Train
After breakfast check out from hotel and depart for Nanu-oya Train station to board the train to Ella. The scenery en-route is wonderful and much better than travelling by road. You be provided pic-nic lunch on board. Reach Ella which is a small town blessed with some of the most stunning views. Ella is also used as a base for trekking trips to the neighboring countryside.

You will get a taste of its beauty by just walking into the Garden of the Grand Ella Motel (Formerly Ella Rest House), where you would feel that you are standing at the edge of the world. We later continue our journey towards Yala and after arrival check-in at hotel. Yala is an incredible destination that has been admired as an unparalleled testimony to the beauty of the wilderness, nature at its best. It is one of the best places in the world to spot leopards, sloth bears, elephants, and a wide range of birdlife.

Day 8: Yala – Galle – Colombo (290 Km / 6 Hours)
Morning enjoy exclusive jeep safari in the national park. Yala, the largest national park in Sri Lanka is very reminiscent of the African savannah and is the place where the greatest variety of wildlife can be observed. Herds of Spotted Deer, Sambar (Elk) and Wild Boar are common. Yala is now gaining an international reputation as the best place to watch Leopards in the world.

The aggressive Sloth Bear is also present but rarely seen. Yala also contains about 250 Elephants including some magnificent solitary cross-tuskers. Before reaching Colombo, en-route stop to visit the Old World Town of Galle which is known for a charming Old Dutch Fort (1640), one of the best preserved forts in Asia, whose ramparts enclose an Old Town of great historical and architectural value. Finally reach Colombo and overnight stay.

Day 9: Departure Colombo
Departure transfer to airport to catch flight for onward destination.
