Helsinki Finland’s vibrant capital where history converges with architectural style and combines with a laid-back vibe across beautiful islands and pristine public parks. Evening gather with new friends for a welcome dinner in the city center.

After breakfast city tour. If Finland’s heart beats in Helsinki then Helsinki’s core is in Senate Square, home of Helsinki Cathedral, the city’s most iconic building. Walk the streets of empiric-designed Tori Quarters before enjoying some free time in Market Square, the city’s most famous international market. Become transfixed by the sprawling lawns, rocky cliffs, and ornate villas of Kaivopuisto Park. During your leisure time, explore more of Helsinki independently.

Day 03: Helsinki – Kakslauttanen – Northern Lights Search                  B-D
Escape to northernmost Finland’s winter wonderland on board a flight to Ivalo and magical Lapland. Like a storybook come to life, Lapland’s culture is steeped in myth and legend. Relish encounters with reindeer and unspoiled views of the northern lights. At the Hotel Resort spend two nights in your very own Finnish log cabin indulging in your personal Finnish sauna and other unique fixtures. Trek north toward Inari on a chase for the northern lights. Stops along the pursuit allow you the chance for a front-row seat at nature’s dazzling, electric light show.

Hit the snow and mush to breakfast aboard an authentic Finnish sleigh. From Kakslauttanen, head to the home of Santa Claus, an epicenter of Christmas cheer. Among prancing reindeer learn about Santa’s origins during a meet and greet at his house. Under the Arctic moonlight, a reindeer farmer introduces you to some friendly Lappish reindeer that will escort you on an exhilarating reindeer safari through remote Kakslauttanen. Gain insight into the importance of reindeer herding to the Sámi indigenous culture. Sip warm berry juice, a Finnish tradition, under the cover of blankets in the surround of northern Finland’s unspoiled wilderness as you continue the search for the elusive northern lights.

Day 05: Kakslauttanen – Husky Safari – Northern Lights Search            B-D
Breathe in the fresh Arctic air this morning and step into the role as leader of your own dog sled team. Zoom through the wilderness on a husky safari, driving your husky guides that are as fast as they are adorable. Spend some time getting to know these amazing dogs and learn about their different commands. You’ll also be introduced to the equipment you’ll need to experience this incredible Arctic adventure at its best. Enjoy your last night in the heart of the Lappish wilderness, nestled in your incredible – and private – glass igloo. You may even see the northern lights dancing overhead.

After breakfast transfer to airport to catch the flight to Helsinki. Upon arrival meet and assist at airport and transfer to Hotel. Enjoy the afternoon at leisure. Arrival at Kittila airport  you will be met and transferred to your hotel in Levi.

Day 2 Levi – Rovaniemi – Levi (By Road) (168 kms / 02 hrs – One Way)
This morning Proceed to the capital of Finnish Lapland, Rovaniemi, which happens to be the home of Santa Claus. Our morning transfer takes us to the Santa Claus Village and across the Arctic Circle. Any crossing of the Arctic Circle includes a ceremony and you’ll get a personal certificate to mark the occasion. Once at the village you’ll be able to send a real letter from Santa.

Return to Levi in the early evening, the remainder of the day is at leisure.

Day 3 Levi
This morning after breakfast there is the option to attend a mountain or cross-country skiing school and in the afternoon, why not head out on a 2-hour snowmobile safari. This winter adventure explores the beautiful northern Finnish countryside. The nearby frozen river acts as a snowmobile route made by Mother Nature herself. There are loads of opportunities for picture stops and once we reach the silent forest a welcoming hot drink is served before we return to our hotel resort for the evening.

Day 4 Levi
This morning is at leisure. This afternoon you will have the chance to take an excursion to a husky farm. At the husky farm, professional dog breeders will take you through the daily routine of the huskies on the farm. You’ll have to take a brief but fun course of ‘the young dog breeder’ before setting off on a 3km safari with the dogs. After lots of photography opportunities and a short rest you’ll return to the farm for delicious hot berry juice and cookies.

This evening you might like join an optional northern lights hunt. You’ll be based in a remote spot by a lake with fascinating stories and amazing views.
Overnight in Levi 

Day 5 Levi
This morning is at leisure and later you can take an optional visit to a reindeer farm. When you arrive at the farm you will be introduced to the daily life of the reindeer. You will then be able to sit an exam on reindeer handling where you can obtain a special driving licence for driving reindeer. Later on, jump aboard your sleighs and head out into the Lappish wilderness. If you’re getting cold there is a toasty bonfire and hot juice available for you to enjoy.

Tonight you have the option to go searching for the Northern Lights in a snowmobile safari. Leave the leave the city lights behind and find the perfect spot to set up a camp fire grill some traditional makkara sausages and wait for the lights to appear.

Day 6 Levi – Kittila (By Road) (22  kms / 30 min appx) / Depart  Kittila
Check out and transfer to airport  and depart for onward journey.

In Finland, nature’s most spectacular light show, the Aurora Borealis, can be viewed in a range of purpose-built spaces from glass igloos to luxury suites. The Northern Lights are visible on roughly 200 nights a year – or every other clear night – in Finnish Lapland.

Itinerary

Day 1 Arrive Rovaniemi.
Arrive at Rovaniemi meet assist and Transfer to the hotel. 

Pick up and transfer to the starting point of the Reindeer Safari to search for the Northern Lights. Seeing the Northern Lights is a very impressive experience. Especially while sitting in the sleigh pulled by reindeer, which will take you for a peaceful trip where nature shows its silent beauty. The Northern Lights vary a lot in appearance and therefore we might adjust the tour accordingly. The ride will take place at the local reindeer farm nearby Rovaniemi, where you will meet the real reindeer herders, who will tell you about their way of life hand by hand with nature. There are many great possibilities for taking photos during the safari and tour in the farm; you can also feed the reindeers with their favourite snacks. Warm drinks with buns are served indoors of the farm, while you listen to interesting stories about reindeer herding and wilderness life in Lapland. The transfer from Rovaniemi central area takes about 30 minutes one way, you can enjoy the peaceful atmosphere of the countryside during the way. Program duration is approximately 3-4 hours including transfers. Day 2 Rovaniemi
After breakfast This morning is free for leisure. In the afternoon you will be picked up at your hotel followed by transfer to Santa Claus Village where you will enjoy some time on own. Walk to the meeting point of the snowmobile safari (in Santa Claus Village / we recommend to have dinner in the Santa Claus Village before the tour) to search for the Northern Lights. This evening departure of a snowmobile safari will be a special experience to discover the magic of snowy forests in the night. Given extra light by the white snow reflection or the stars and the moon, we follow the snowmobile trails away from city lights and looking for the spots to admire the sky. The guide will light up a bonfire and we will enjoy a picnic while waiting for the Northern Lights to appear. Everyone can grill traditional Finnish “makkara” sausagesNorthern Lights Search on the fire and we will serve Lappish berry juice to keep you warm. For taking proper photos in darkness, you can bring along the tripod for your camera. Duration of the program is 3 hours, including preparations. The riding time on snowmobiles is approximately 1 hour and 30-40 minutes. The average speed during our short tours is limited due to the safety and traffic regulations. Two adults ride on one snowmobile, single riding supplement for extra charge. The tour is suitable for families with children; Children are traveling in the sledge pulled by the guide’s snowmobile. Day 3 Rovaniemi
After breakfast Enjoy the day free for leisure on own. Evening departure for your snowshoe hike to the Wilderness Lodge. Open your senses and experience a silence of the forest in the night. Snow reflection, stars and moon are giving us light, while finding a way in the darkness. Snowshoeing is a great way to experience Lapland’s wintry wildernesses, enjoy the fresh and clean air and get some exercise. After a 20-minute transfer we will arrive to the Wilderness Lodge, traditional lumberjack manor nestled by the beautiful river of Raudanjoki. We cross the walking bridge to the river island where we can admire frozen rapids. The area provides high chance to spot Northern Lights. You will get all the needed equipment and we head for the forests trail. Using snowshoes is easy, you don’t need to be a skilled skier to learn what snowshoe hiking is all about – reasonably good balance and warm clothing is all you need. During the trip there will be a break to make an open fire where we enjoy hot chocolate drink and sweet buns in the lovely wintry atmosphere. Day 4 Rovaniemi
After breakfast Enjoy the day free for leisure on own. In the evening, join our tour to see Northern Lights – the great natural phenomenon of Arctic areas! During the tour we visit the best possible place for this experience – take your camera and tripod and try to catch those beautiful colours. We drive out from the city and light pollution about 30 min – 45 min, depending on the weather conditions. If we are lucky, you can see the lights already on the way. The appearance of the lights is not guaranteed but they are often visible on the evenings when the sky is clear. Even without the lights, the Arctic starry sky is very beautiful. You will always need some luck to see the lights and it is unpredictable even during the trip! Great surprises can happen! Overnight at the hotel in Rovaniemi. 

Day 5  Depart Rovaniemi.
Departure transfer to onward destination.
