If you a passionate golfer and have taken a day off from your tour literary, the best way to winding and relax is through a game of golf at world’s remotest golf course. The Royal Thimphu gold course at an altitude of 2500m, is located just besides the majestic Tashichodzong. While the infrastructure may not beat par with international standards, it is decent enough and the scenic beauty does make up for it.

The 9 hole, par 35 course, in Thimphu was opened to public in 1971 and can be played as 18 hole, 5851 yard and 70 course from 2 different tees. At 2500m the ball does travel longer however heavy rough and trees make up for that. Good combination of water hazards, bunkering amidst pristine natural beauty and the towering dzong, makes this course very pleasant to play at and an experience of lifetime.

Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Paro – Thimphu
On arrival after completing the visa formalities and collection of baggage, Our representative will meet and greet you at the airport.
Transfer to hotel in Thimphu
Check into your hotel in Thimphu.
Leisure time and lunch in the hotel
Afternoon sightseeing tour to any or all of the following places as per your choice:-
Rimpung Dzong Janata Dumgtseg Lhakhang Tachogang Lhakhang Changangkha Lhakhang Tashichho Dzong.

Day 2: In Thimphu
Breakfast in the hotel
After breakfast half day sightseeing to following places:
Kuensel Phodrang National Memorial Chorten Motithang Takin Preserve
After Lunch transfer to play GOLF.
Dinner at local Restaurant to explore the local cuisine
Overnight at Hotel.

Day 3: Thimphu-Paro Early breakfast in the hotel
Post early breakfast, transfer to Play a Golf.
After Lunch half day sightseeing to following places.

After sightseeing transfer to Paro.

Day 4: Paro
Early morning breakfast in Paro
After early morning breakfast, experience a morning hike up to Taktsang Monastery, also known as ‘Tiger’s Nest’.
Sightseeing to Kyichu Lhakhang

Day 5: Paro Departure
In the morning after early breakfast departure checkout from hotel and transfer to the airport based on flight timing.

The Royal Thimphu Golf Club has a delightful nine-hole, Par 35 course beautifully situated above Trashi Chhoe Dzong. Set in a valley amongst the peaks of the Himalayas, this course is located just outside the capital of Bhutan- Thimphu.

Itinerary

Day 01: Arrive Paro
Your Guide from Yak Holidays will receive you at the airport and drive you to the Hotel.

After lunch, visit to:
Rimpung Dzong (literally meaning “Heap of Jewels”).
Ta Dzong – National Museum (built in1656 and renovated in 1968)
Dinner and overnight in Hotel.

Optional activities you can choose:

Hike to Dzongdrakha Monastery.
Hike to Nunnery.
Village walk.
Mountain biking around Paro valley.

Day 2: Paro – Thimphu (Excursion to Taktsang Monastery)
After breakfast, visit to:

Taktsang Monastery (Tiger’s Nest) – this incredible monastery clings to the edge of a sheer rock cliff that plunges 900 meters into the valley below.
Ruins of Drukgyel dzong – built in 1646 by Shabdrung Ngawang Namgyal.
Kichu Lhakhang built in 659 A.D built by the Tibetan king Srongsen Gampo.
After lunch, drive to Thimphu. On the way, view

Tamchog Lhakhang built by Thangthong Gyalpo (Popularly known as Lama Chazampa, which literally means, the Iron Bridge builder) in the 15th
Dinner and overnight in Hotel.

Day 3: Thimphu Sightseeing
After breakfast, visit to:

Buddha Point (Kuensel Phodrang) to see the largest and the tallest statue of sitting Buddha.

Takin Preserve Centre – The Takin is the national animal of Bhutan, and looks like a cross between a cow and a goat. Legend has it that the animal was created by the great Buddhist yogi, Drupa Kunley, and it can be found only in Bhutan and nearby areas.
Painting School- Commonly known as Arts & Crafts School or Painting School
Nunnery- Zilukha nunnery in Drupthob Goemba.
After lunch, visit to:

National Memorial Chorten – built in 1974 in the memory of Bhutan’s third King.

Weekend market is by far the largest vegetable market in the country.
Tashichho Dzong – seat of the national government and the Central Monastic Body, including the summer residence of the Je Khenpo (Chief Abbot of Bhutan).
Dinner and overnight in Hotel.

Day 4: Thimphu
After breakfast, we proceed to the Royal Thimphu Golf course. Whole day golf. And in the evening, free to stroll in the town.

Day 5: Thimphu
After breakfast, half day Golf.

In the afternoon, sightseeing in the town.

Folk Heritage Museum- It is dedicated to connect people to the Bhutanese rural past through exhibits, demonstrations, educational programmes and documentation of rural life.

Textile Museum- The crowns of Bhutan’s Kings, namzas (dresses), the first version of Royal Crown and other accessories used by members of Royal family can be found in the museum.

Changangkha Monastery- It is a fortress like temple and monastic school perched on a ridge above Thimphu, south of Motithang.
Dinner and overnight in Hotel.

Day 6: Thimphu – Punakha
After breakfast, drive to Punakha via Dochula Pass (3116 m)

Dochula Pass – if the weather is clear you can see the higher Himalayas.
Royal Botanical Park at Lam Pelri was established to commemorate the Silver Jublee of 4th His Majesty.
Chhimi Lhakhang – He subdued the demons with his “Magical Thunder bolt”. The Temple is also known as “the Temple of Fertility”.
After lunch,

Punakha Dzong built in 1637 by Shabdrung Ngawang Namgyal and is situated between Pho Chu (Male river) and Mo Chu (Female river).
Dinner and overnight in Hotel

Drive to Talo Goenpa
Khamsum Yulley Lhakhang

Day 7: Punakha – Paro
After breakfast, drive to Paro. On the way, stop a while to view the magnificent Simtokha Dzong built in 1616. Lunch in Thimphu.

After lunch, visit:
National Handicraft Emporium- has a variety of hand woven textiles and other craft products are available for purchase. There are also other smaller crafts shops in the town.
In the late afternoon, drive to Paro and witness the archery match.

Dinner and overnight in Hotel.

Day 8: Paro- Departure
After an early breakfast, drive to the airport and farewell.
