Day 01: Arrive Port-au-Prince
Arrive in Port-au-Prince meet and assist at the Airport and transfer to hotel. The rest of the day is free to relax or explore independently.

Day 02: Arrive Port-au-Prince.
After breakfast visit the landmark of Barbancourt Rum Distillery. The distillery was founded in 1862 and its rum is widely regarded as one of the world’s finest and certainly one of Haiti’s most recognisable exports. Later head to the maelstrom of the Cité Soleil, Port-au-Prince’s largest ‘shanty town’, home to an estimated 400,000 people and formerly a no-go area for tourists and police. Thankfully, things have changed. Accompanied by a local resident we’ll see community projects that continue to regenerate the area and improve the lives of those who live here. Overnight at Hotel.

Day 03: Port-au-Prince vodou ceremony
After breakfast tour of the city’s historic areas followed by a visit to an authentic vodou ceremony, a blend of West African voodoo religion unique to Haiti. Later in the afternoon we drive into the mountains surrounding Port-au-Prince to the village of Furcy. We take a walking tour of the village, and enjoy the cool, fresh mountain air. Day 04: Port-au-Prince – Lake Azuéi – Port-au-Prince
After breakfast drive to Lake Azuéi, Haiti’s largest lake, also known as Etang Saumâtre, located 29km from Port-au-Prince on the border with the Dominican Republic. We meet an environmental specialist who will explain habitat and water management projects in the area. There’s an opportunity to take a boat onto the lake and see fish cages, as well as time for a swim. Kayaks are available for hire at an extra charge. We return to Port-au-Prince later in the afternoon.

Day 05: Jacmel and Bassin-Bleu
After breakfast Leaving the capital, we drive across the mountains to the former coffee port of Jacmel. We explore some of this beautiful town’s most interesting sights, including the old coffee warehouses built in New Orleans-style, the cathedral, and the port itself. Afterwards we drive to the pools and waterfalls of Bassin-Bleu.

Day 06: Route du Café and Port Salut
After breakfast check out from the hotel and begin a tour of the Route du Cafe.. Jacmel is a well known coffee growing area and you will get a chance to see the coffee making industry in the region. After lunch (not included) we travel out to the Highway and get the local tourist bus (not private) down to Aux Cayes, in the South of Haiti. Once we arrive at Aux Cayes we get a ride to Port Salut and settle in to our hotel just 2 minutes away from the lovely long beach. Overnight at Hotel.

Day 07: Marie Jeanne Caves and Aux Coteaux
After breakfast drive to the Marie Jeanne Caves, an underground cave system with interesting rock formations. Afterwards we continue to Coteaux and the ‘500 Marches de la Médaille Miraculeuse’, literally ‘500 Steps to the Miraculous Medal’, dedicated to the Virgin Mary. It’s a fairly steep walk up the steps but those who make the ascent are rewarded by excellent views.

Day 08: Cap Haitian
After breakfast, we will take a taxi back to Aux Cayes to board the 10am return bus to Port au Prince. On arrival in Port au Prince, we travel to the airport for or flight up to Cap Haitian, where we will be met on arrival and transferred to our hotel.

Day 09: Cap Haitian
After Breakfast visit the country’s most incredible site – the vast Citadelle, an imposing fortress built atop a mountain to resist a French invasion that never came. We take a gentle horse ride (led by handlers) or walk to the top and explore the site with a local guide. We also visit the palace of Sans Souci situated below the Citade
lle and dating back to the same time. Lunch is taken at a local community restaurant before we return to the hotel. Overnight at Hotel.

Day 10: Cap Haitian
After breakfast we take a walking tour of Cap-Haïtien, exploring its wealth of well-preserved French colonial architecture. During and after the Haitian Revolution many craftsmen from Cap-Haïtien fled to French-controlled New Orleans, now the USA. As a result, the two cities share many similar architectural styles. Especially notable are the ‘gingerbread houses’ lining the city’s older streets. On our return to Cap-Haïtien we drive to a beautiful beach location outside town.

After breakfast departure transfer to airport to catch the flight for onward journey.

Day 02: Port-au-Prince
Enjoy an included city tour focusing on Haitian history, culture and the vibrant local arts scene. Meet a Vodou priest at Noailles and see the fascinating iron-working community of Croix-des-Bouquets. Fill up on Creole cuisine and culture along the way.

See the devastating effects of the 2010 earthquake alongside colourful arts, crafts and traditional goods at the artist community of Atis Rezistans, where, out of the rubble, artists began to create new life, spawning an entire community. Visit the Iron Market (Marché en Fer) for artifacts related to the traditional Vodou (Voodoo) culture in Haiti. Meet a Vodou priest and find beautiful metal art treasures in the fascinating iron-working community of Noailles at Croix-des-Bouquets. Fill up on delicious Creole cuisine and unique cultural experiences along the way. With time, opt to get a bird’s eye view at the Belvedere on Boutilliers Hills, scanning the Bay of Port-au-Prince and city below.

Day 03: Port-au-Prince/Cap-Haïtien
Fly to Cap-Haïtien and visit the famous Citadelle Laferrière, a UNESCO-designated mountaintop fortress. After, visit the sugarcane fields and learn to make Haitian rum.

Fly to Cap-Haïtien, on the northern coast. Visit the famous Citadelle Laferrière and the sugarcane fields. Learn to make famous Haitian rum with a “guildive”. This traditional rum distillery (utilizing sugarcane juice) comes from an old French word derived from mispronouncing “kill devil”, a welcomed side effect of drinking the rum.

Day 04: Cap-Haïtien
Enjoy a walking tour including the cathedral and main city market. Learn to make kasav, a traditional food of the native Taino people.

Explore the city on foot to learn more about the area. With free time in the afternoon, opt to visit the beach on this northern shore. Enjoy learning how to make traditional kasav (a flat bread), a food of the native Taino people. The experience includes visiting a traditional facility where manyok (yucca) is transformed into kasav, which is eaten with meals as a flatbread. This dish and its preparation comes directly from the native Taino people who first inhabited the islands before Columbus’ arrival.

Day 05: Cap-Haïtien/Jacmel
Fly back to Port-au-Prince and continue to Jacmel. This town is known for its vibrant art scene, carnival celebrations, and sandy beaches. Take a city tour focused on the art community here. Pop into artists’ studios to view the local papier mâché creations and wander past colourful mosaics on every wall.

Day 06: Jacmel
Visit the most famous attraction in the area, Bassin-Bleu. After a fun ride and a hike down hill, arrive at the natural blue pools and waterfalls. Jump in and cool off.

Day 07: Jacmel/Port-au-Prince
Visit a local grassroots project, the G Adventures-supported Art Creation Foundation for Children. The program teaches at-risk children different types of traditional art while providing meals and a “second home”. Enjoy a homemade meal here and learn about the great work this organization is doing. Travel back to Port-au-Prince for a final night with the group.

Day 02: Sans Souci Palace, Milot Cathedrale and Place d’Armes square Tour                B-D
Sans Souci Palace Discover the ruins of Sans-Souci Palace. This was the principal royal residence of Henry I, king of Haiti, better known as Henri Christophe. The palace’ splendor was remarked by various visitors, generally acknowledged by many to be the Caribbean equivalent to the Palace of Versailles in France. Cathedrale de Milot The Milot Cathedral also known as Royal Chapel of Milot is located just below the ruins of the Sans Souci Palace. It is a functioning church, and services might be going on during visit. The church is probably the oldest in Haiti, as it was built between 1810-1813. King Henri Christophe, the first king of Haiti was crowned in this cathedral. In front of the church, we found Place d’Armes square. This is where the liberation of the slaves was proclaimed on 29 of August 1793. The plaza is dominated by monuments to two other key revolutionary leaders: Toussaint Louverture and Jean-Jacques Dessalines.

Day 03: Citadelle Tour                              B-L-D
Citadelle Tour Citadelle Laferrière, known to locals simply as La Citadelle, is the largest fortress in the Americas. It was constructed between 1805 and 1820 by Henri Christophe the first king of Haiti. Haitians call it the eighth wonder of the world. Designated by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site in 1982. The mountaintop fortress is massive, rising a vertiginous hundred and thirty feet from the mountaintop of Bonnet a L’Eveque, around 3000 feet above sea level. The Citadelle commands unparalleled views in every direction over the surrounding landscape of jungle-clad mountains, rivers and ocean.

Day 04: Heros de Vertieres Tour                             B-D
Heros de Vertieres The Héros de Vertières is a metal sculpture representing six heroes (4 men and 2 women) from the Battle of Vertières – the final battle of Haitian troops against the French army, which took place on 18 November 1803, and which was decisive in the founding of the Haitian nation – was erected in 1953. This phenomenal monument is listed as a national heritage site since 1995. This symbol of Freedom is a must see for all visitors and tourists wishing to view Haitian historical legacy at its Best.

Day 05: Amiga Island Tour                        B-L-D
Enjoy a scenic boat ride to an enchanting and idyllic island encircled by white-sand beaches and the crystal-clear Caribbean Sea. Day 06: Iron Market Tour                         B-D
Iron Market, or the Marche au Fer was first built in 1890 by the Haitian engineer Alexandre Bobo. Made completely out of iron and cast iron, the market is named after the market in Port-au-Prince which is also under an iron pavilion. The market is the 34th historical monument of Haiti to benefit from this status which places it under the high protection of the State. Its inscription on the list of the national historic heritage was carried out following a presidential decree dated May 11, 2010. Admire the beautiful architecture and traditional Haitian handicrafts sold at the market.

Day 07: Paradise Cove Escape and Haitian Village Experience         B-D
Labadee Paradise Cove Escape and Haitian Village Experience. Enjoy a scenic boat ride to an idyllic Paradise cove, flanked with trees offering plenty of shade and shallow water to enjoy. Here, visitors are able to lay out, lounge and enjoy the relaxed sandy cove set amongst a lush green tropical landscape. Just a little way up the hill behind the cove is an authentic-looking collection of huts to show some Haitian customs and culture.
