This tour of the South of Ireland with private transportation offers your group various aspects of the south of Ireland. See the main sights of Ireland’s second city, Cork, experience the fishing village of Kinsale, and enjoy the freedom to explore the legendary village of Blarney with its famed castle on your own.

As you begin, your guide will introduce to you Cobh, which was the last sight of Ireland for so many people in the latter part of the 19th century when the Irish sought a new life in the “New World.” Your tour proceeds to Kinsale, approximately one hour’s drive, passing through the Lee Tunnel and a photo stop at Charles Fort.

During your free time, enjoy a walk around the town of Kinsale with its very attractive harbor and yachting center.

Drive from Kinsale through rolling pasture lands to Cork city, where you will view the main sights of the city including the University, St Finbar’s Cathedral and the city’s main streets. Free time will be taken for lunch on your own.

Continue to the village of Blarney, home to Blarney Castle – one of the most famous attractions in Ireland where the stone bestows the “gift of eloquence” to those who kiss it. The Blarney Stone is housed on the summit of the ruin and is approached by climbing 100 steep steps. From the summit, one has fine vistas of parkland and Blarney House in the distance.

You will then have approximately one hour and 45 minutes of free time in Blarney to visit the castle, explore the village, or browse the well-stocked Blarney Woolen Mills shop. The shop houses a wide variety of quality Irish products including crystal, cashmere, crafts, candles, pottery, ceramics, and of course traditional woolen knits.

You will then return to Cobh via the Ring Road.

On this half-day tour with private transportation, you will be picked up at the port in a private, air-conditioned vehicle and see the highlights of Ireland’s second-largest city, Cork. Then you will be whisked away to Muckross House and Gardens, where you will enjoy the freedom to explore the impressive estate on your own.

After departing the ship in Cobh, you will drive to the city of Cork where you will have a driving orientation tour to view the main highlights of the city including the University, the City Hall and the South Mall. From Cork, you will drive west passing through the Irish market town of Macroom and on to the Gaeltacht village of Ballyvourney.

Continue towards Killarney Town where, upon arrival, you will visit Muckross House and Gardens, which has a beautiful location on Muckross Lake, (second largest of Killarney’s three lakes) & wonderful views of the Kerry Mountains as a backdrop. Muckross House is a 19th-century manor house and has two main themes, the environment of the National Park and the folklore of County Kerry in the 19th and 20th centuries.

Skilled craft workers carry on some of the traditional crafts of Kerry as their predecessors did in bygone days. The gardens informal in size, are noted for their fine collection of rhododendrons and azaleas, extensive water gardens and an outstanding rock garden of natural limestone. After visiting Muckross House you will proceed to Killarney where you will have free time to purchase lunch on your own in the town.

Following the break, you will drive up to Aghadoe Heights to view the Lakes of Killarney and the mountains in the distance. From here, you will begin the drive back to Cobh through the country roads of County Cork.

This tour offers various aspects of the south of Ireland seeing the main sights of Ireland’s second city with the experience of the fishing/sailing village of Kinsale and visiting the legendary village of Blarney with its famed castle.

As you begin, your guide will introduce to you Cobh which was the last sight of Ireland for so many people in the latter part of the 19th century when the Irish sought a new and “better” life in the “New World.” Your tour proceeds to Kinsale, approximately one hour’s drive, passing through the Lee Tunnel and a photo stop at Charles Fort.

During free time, enjoy a walk around the town of Kinsale with its very attractive harbor and yachting center.

Drive from Kinsale through rolling pasture lands to Cork City where you will view the main Cork City sights including the University, St Finbarr’s Cathedral and the City’s main streets.

Continue to the iconic Rock of Cashel, the most visited heritage site in Ireland. View the spectacular group of medieval buildings set on an outcrop of limestone in the Golden Vale including the 12th century round tower, High Cross and Romanesque Chapel, 13th century Gothic cathedral, 15th century Castle and the restored Hall of the Vicars Choral. Last stop for today is The Vee Gap, named due to the V shaped gap in the mountains, offering panoramic views through rocky paths and rugged mountain scenery and one of the most magnificent views along Cahir, Ardfinnan, Clogheen and Ballyporeen.

You will find more than one treasure in this area, on the southern side of the mountain, there is a Cistercian Monastery, known as Mount Melleray. Continue to your accommodation in County Tipperary. Overnight in Tipperary.

Day 5 Tipperary – Clare (By Road ( 78 kms / 1 hrs 3 mins appx.)
Proceed to today travel west to the Cliffs of Moher, one of Ireland’s most outstanding sights. Standing 230 metres above the ground at their highest point and 8km long, The Cliffs offer you a unique and wonderful view and on a clear day you can admire the Aran Islands and Connemara Mountains. This remarkable and peaceful sight, designated UNESCO Geo Park, is famed for its beauty and is home to major colonies of cliff nesting seabirds in Ireland. Stroll along the majestic and world famous cliffs, an experience not to be missed. Date dependent (open 7 June – 29 August 2012) take the boat to Scattery Island, home to a 6th century monastic settlement founded by St Senan. Scattery Island has had a long history and indeed, despite attacks by the Vikings, you can still observe the Cathedral, the Oratory, the remains of the Round Tower and the ruins of six churches.

Visit the island and its interpretative centre to find out more. Alternatively, if travelling out with these dates, you can discover the Burren Region. The word ‘Burren’ comes from an Irish word ‘Boireann’ meaning a rocky place. This is an extremely appropriate name when you consider the lack of soil cover and the extent of exposed Limestone Pavement. There are neither trees nor land covering the stone. The grass grows in tufts of earth of two or three foot square which lies between the limestone rocks. You can also explore its rich history and visit the many castle and monastic ruins. Overnight in Clare.

Day 6 Clre – Galway (By Road) ( 70 kms / 1 hrs 2 mins appx.)
Proceed to today you can discover the Connemara area. Referred to as a “savage beauty” by the Irish writer Oscar Wilde, the Connemara region is a peninsula bordered by the arid and rocky coastline of Galway Bay. Connemara is world famous for its lakes and rivers, bogs and mountains. The picturesque Connemara has a natural charm with its abundant wildlife and its villages, where Gaelic is still the spoken language.

With its beauty and its natural paradise, Connemara offers you magnificent views of the Ocean and the fjord of Killary Harbour. This region is such a spectacular and unique sight and must be explored. Visit the Neo-Gothic Kylemore Abbey, built in 1868 by Mitchell Henry as a romantic gift. Originally it was a Castle covering around 40,000 square feet with over 70 rooms and the principal wall was two feet thick. In 1920, Kylemore became an Abbey and is now the oldest of the Irish Benedictine Abbeys. This remarkable historical place offers you magnificent views in a peaceful and relaxing setting. Take a pleasant and charming walk through the Victorian Walled gardens. Overnight in Galway,

Day 7 Galway – Sligo (By Road (125 kms / 1 hrs 45 mins appx.)
Proceed to today visit Eagles Flying, the largest centre for Birds of Prey and Owls in Ireland. This community based enterprise in Gurteen is dedicated to ensuring that the tradition of Irish music remains a living one ‘an traidisiun beo’ and that it continues to be enjoyed by all ages and nationalities. Overnight in Sligo.
