Day 01 Arrive Delhi (By Flight)
Arrival in Delhi in the morning. Breakfast in hotel and some rest. Than Delhi sightseeing tour of main highlights – Jama Masjid, Red Fort, Lotus Temple and New Delhi. Overnight in Delhi.

Delhi- India’s capital and a major gateway to the country. New Delhi also reflects the legacy the British left behind. The division between New & Old Delhi is the distinction between the capitals of the British & the Moghuls respectively.

Day 02 Delhi – Srinagar (By Flight)
Morning flight to Srinagar earliest possible. Continue with Srinagar tour – Wooden mosque, Old Town, Shalimar Gardens ,Nishat Bagd gardens, Garden on the mountain slope forgot the name, but third famous garden of Srinagar. Boat on Dal lake.

Srinagar:- Srinagar is located in the picturesque Kashmir valley and one of the most beautiful cities in India in terms of natural splendor. The tourist attractions of Srinagar are mainly related to natural beauty like lakes, gardens, etc

Shalimar Gardens:- Shalimar Gardens are the piece de resistance of Srinagar’s many gardens and parks. This royal garden was laid out four hundred years ago by the Mughal Emperor Jehangir for his wife.

Nishat Bagh Gardens :- Nishat Bagh, though smaller than Shalimar, is more intensely beautiful. Descending in tiers to the Dal’s edge, Nishat is well known for its stately chinar plane trees, imported to Kashmir from distant Persia by the Mughals. Many of the giant chinar trees have been planted by the Mughals.

Dal Lake is a major tourist attraction in Srinagar. Located on the eastern end of the city, the Dal Lake comprises of a series of lakes, including the Nagin Lake some 8 kms from the city center. One can enjoy the panoramic view of the mountains dotting Srinagar from this lake. You can enjoy taking a ride on traditional Kashmiri boats or the Shikaras to discover the intricate network of waterways of this lake.

Day 03 Srinagar – Gulmarg – Srinagar (By Road) (50 Kms. / 2 hrs. – One Way)
Early morning boat to Vegetable floating market. Than tour to Gulmarg resort and hike in the valley to Gondola. Gondola ride to 2nd level top. Return to Srinagar.

Day 04 Srinagar – Sonamarg – Kargil   (By Road) (204 Kms. / 6.5 hrs. appx.)
Drive to Kargil on the way Sonmarg valley with hike to Thajiwas glacier ponies optional. Crossing Zoji La pass. Overnight in Kargil.

Sonamarg: is situated at a height of 2740 m in the state of Jammu and Kashmir. Sonamarg is a small and beautiful hill resort. Sonamarg literally means the ‘Meadow of Gold’ and is known so due to the flowers that wraps the meadow in the spring. In the earlier days, Sonamarg lies on the main trading route into central Asia. Sonamarg is the last major point in the Kashmir valley before the Zoji La pass into Ladakh. At the pass, the green and lush Kashmiri landscape changes to the barren and dry landscape of Ladakh. Sonamarg offers various places of interest to the tourists like Nilagrad, Bisansar Lake & Krishnasar Lake and Nichnai Pass.

Day 05 Kargil – Suru Valley – Kargil

Suru Valley – One of the most beautiful regions of Ladakh, the Suru Valley is the heartland of Kargil district. Nestling along the northern foothills of the Great Himalayan Wall, it extends from Kargil town, first southward for a length of about 75 kms up to the expanse around Panikhar, and thence eastward for nearly 65 kms, up to the foot of the Penzila watershed, where the Suru River rises.

Parkachik Glacier, spilling down the Nun-Kun slopes, to collapse into the Suru River forming a huge icefall. One can walk up to the glacier across a good suspension footbridge over the Suru. Some mountaineers use this glacier to approach the difficult north face route to scale Mt. Nun. The upper Suru Valley also offers excellent camping options.

Day 06 Kargil – Lamayuru (By Road) (108 Kms. / 5 hrs. appx)
Drive to Lamayuru – Visit Mulbekh Buddha Carving and Shergol Gompa. Late afternoon visit Moonscape landscape and Lamayuru monastery. Overnight in Lamayuru.

Lamayuru, Belongs to Dripung Kagyu Red Hat like Phyang. The oldest structure in Lamayuru is the Singey Lhakhang built by the founder of Alchi Lotsava Rinchen bzangpo in 11th century. After visiting Lamayuru we proceed further to Leh enrote visiting Ridzong Gompa, known as the paradise for Meditation.

Day 07 Lamayuru – Leh (By Road) (120 Kms. / 4 hrs. appx.)
Drive to Leh, on the way visit Alchi Gompa, then in afternoon rafting on Zanskar river. Overnight in Leh.

Leh town offers a number of sightseeing options for the visitors. A historic town that served as the royal capital of the Old Kingdom, it is dominated by the nine-storey palace built by King Singge Namgyal in the grand tradition of Tibetan architecture, which is said to have inspired the famous Potala in Lhasa built about half a century later.

Day 08 Leh
Leh sightseeing tour with some free time for walking around can finalize the permits for Nubra and Pangong lake. Overnight in Leh.

Day 09 Leh
Monastery day – visit to Shey palace and gompa, Thikshey Gompa.
Return to Leh. Overnight in Leh.

Day 10 Leh – Pangong Lake – Leh (By Road) (150 Kms. / 5 hrs – One Way)
Long tour to Pangon Lake start early crossing Chang La pass. 4-5 hours photo stops and walking along the coast including picnic by the lake. Return to Leh arriving with the sunset.

Day 11 Leh – Nubra Valley – Leh (By Road) (110 Kms. / 4 hrs. – One Way)
Long day tour to Nubra valley crossing Khardung La pass, visit monastery and Big Buddha statue. Visit Sand dune district and take 30 min camel ride in the dunes. Return to Leh.

Nubra Valley is situated about 150 km north of Leh, the capital town of Ladakh, India. Its name is derived from Ldumra the valley of flowers. The average altitude of the valley is about 10,000 ft. above the sea level. The common way to access this valley is to travel over the Khardung La from Leh where one will first encounter the Shuok Valley. To enter the Nubra valley.

Day 02 Sri Nagar – Gulmarg – Srinagar
Early morning again one hour shikara ride at Dal Lake.

Passengers who have been to Tibet that Tibetan culture is best preserved in Ladakh in Tibet itself. Check in and rest of the day free to acclimatize to the altitude.

Day 06 Uleytokpo – Alchi – Likir – Leh (By Road) (83 km/ 1 hrs. 50 min.)
After breakfast enjoy the visit to the village Alchi, one of the oldest monasteries in Ladakh. Alchi, nestled between majestic mountains and rolling wheat fields. After the sightseeing, drive to Leh. The capital of Ladakh, at one time was a major stop on the Asian” Silk Route. Stroll along the main bazaar, observing the varied crowd and peering into the Curio shops is an entrancing experience.

On the way to Leh, Visit the village of Nimo and stop for photo session at River Zanskar Proceed further to visit Basgo Fort & Likir. Likir is situated in a side valley about 05 Kms from main Srinagar – Leh highway. Likir belongs to Ge-Lung-Pa sect; the monastery also maintains and runs a school for young Lamas. Day 07 Leh
After breakfast, drive for an excursion tour to Spituk.
Later in the afternoon, visit Shankar Gompa. Overnight at the hotel.

Spituk This is one of the most important monastery in Ladakh , its belongs to Gelugspa or yellow head ordeSpitukr, Monastery was founded by Lama Lawang Lotus and King Dragspa Bumlde in 15th century, One could visit various temple dedicated to different deities.

Shankar Gompa, which is towards the north of the Town, The monastery is only 130yrs old and is the seat for the head lama of Spitok Monastery.Later visit Shanti Stupa, the Japanese for World Peace built the Shanti Stupa, at Changspa, on the hilltop, and was inaugurated by Dalai Lama in 1992. It’s state of the art work attracts a lot of tourists to Ladakh and is spectacular to watch. From there one can see spectacular view of Leh town and Indus valley.

Day 08 Leh – Nubra Valleyx` (By Road) (116 Kms. / 4 hrs. appx.)
We continue our journey through the Nubra valley crossing Khardong-La pass 5,600 m, the highest road in the world from where you can see the mountain ranges of Karakorum. The Shyok and Nubra river, which have their origins in the Siachen Glacier 7,500 m, meet in this valley. The caravans of the famous Silk Road passed through this valley to Kashgar, and Sinkian Yarkland. We arrived at Gangles, the highest village in the Valley of Leh 4,200 m.

Day 09 Nubra Valley – Leh (By Road) (116 Kms. / 4 hrs. appx.)
In the morning, visit the famous Shey Palace 12 km from Leh worshiping a statue of Buddha covered in gold 7.5 m. We continue to Thiksey Monastery 20 km, one of the most beautiful in Leh, which belongs to the Gelukpa order. Finally we visit the Hemis monastery 20 km, the largest and richest in the area. Overnight in Leh.

Day 10 Leh
After breakfast visit Thakthok, Chemday and Stakna monasteries. Takthok Thakthok Monastery is situated in the village of Sakti. Before the monastery was founded there was a meditation cave of a Mahaadiddha called Kunga Phuntsog. Chemday Monastery is situated 40 Kms east of Leh. The monastery is situated there on the mountain side and was founded 365 years ago by Lama Tagsang Raschen with the Dharmaraja Singey Namgial acting as patron. There is a sacred image of Padmasambhava to be seen there, one storey in height. There are, furthermore, many shrines. A custom exists whereby every year on the 28th & 29th days of the 9th Tibetan month sacred dances are performed in association with the festival of an initiatory ritual. The successive reincarnations of Lama Tagsang Raschen act as the incumbents. Stakna gompa which is famous for its numerous statues and paintings Overnight at the hotel.

Day 11 Leh – Delhi (By Flight) / Delhi–Agra–Delhi (205 Km/ 4 hrs- One Way)
Early morning departure to Leh airport for flight to Delhi.
On arrival, drive to Agra through express highway to visit Taj Mahal. Later, drive back to Delhi. Overnight in Delhi.

Agra -Historians suggest Agra to be the Agravana in the epic Mahabharata. It is expected to be known as Agralapura during the medieval age. An archaeological fact pushes the existence of Agra back to three million years. The Lodhi dynasty ruled over Agra for a long time. It was in the onset of the sixteenth century that the Mughals took over the ruling of Agra from the hands of Lodhis.

Taj Mahal Shah Jahan the great emperor and a great builder constructed Taj Mahal in the loving memory of his beloved wife Anjuman Bano Begum. Shah Jahan met this beautiful girl in his young age and later gets married with her. Taj Mahal completed in 1653 A.D. finished in by white marble, it is perhaps India most fascinating and beautiful monument.

Shankaracharya Temple – One of the most revered Hindu pilgrimage destinations in Srinagar, the Shankaracharya Temple is located atop a hill known as ‘Takht-e-Suleiman’. The ancient temple stands at a height of about 1100 feet above the surface level of the main Srinagar city. A visit to this sacred temple involves a trek to the top of the hills. Devoted to the worship of Lord Shiva, Shankaracharya Temple is believed to have been built by Raja Gopadatya in 371 BC. During those times, the temple was known as Gopadri. The great saint Shankaracharya is supposed to have stayed here when he visited Kashmir in the early part of the ninth century with the primary aim of spreading the philosophy of Vedanta. This perhaps led to the renaming of the temple as Shankaracharya Temple. Shankaracharya was also instrumental in popularizing the worship of Lord Shiva in Jammu and Kashmir.

Kargil Town & Around – Kargil town (2,704 m), situated midway between Srinagar (204 Kms) and Leh, (234 kms) on the Srinagar-Leh highway, is the second largest urban centre (approx. 8,000 inhabitants) of Ladakh and headquarters of Kargil district.

New part of Kargil town A quiet town now, in the past it served as an important trade and transit centre for the Central-Asian merchants due to its unique equidistant location (about 200-230 kms) from Srinagar, Leh and Skardo, all well known trading outposts on the old trade route network. Numerous caravans carrying exotic merchandise transited in the town on their way to and from China, Tibet, Yarkand, Kashmir and Baltistan. Since 1975, travellers of various nationalities have replaced traders of the past and Kargil has regained its importance as a centre of travel-related activities.

Overview of Kargil town & adjoining villages Being located in lap of the Himalayas, Kargil serves as an important base for undertaking adventure tourism and trips to the exotic Zanskar Valley and other Himalayan regions. Visitors travelling between Srinagar and Leh have to make a night halt here before starting the second leg of their journey.

Renowned as paradise for meditation, Rizong Monastery overlooks the Indus Valley. Located 73 km from Leh in Ladakh district in Jammu and Kashmir, the monastery belongs to Gelugpa sect of Tibetan Buddhism, also known as the Yellow Hat sect. The monastery was founded by Lama Tsultim Nima in 1831.

Day 05 Leh – Excursion to Monastaries  (By Road) (50 Kms. / 4-5 hrs. appx.)

Spituk monastery was built in 15th century during the reign of Grags ‘bum-lde, these new Gelug-pa monastery was built like fortress on the summit of crags. Spituk lies some 5 kms south of Leh. Nesting at the foot of the crags are the flat-topped houses which go to form the village of Spituk.

Hemis Monastery, 40 kms towards the south-east of the main city of Leh is the largest as well as the most well-known monastery (Gompa) in Ladakh. This monastery was built by under the reigns of the King Singge Namgyal, in 1672 AD.

Shey Monastery located on the hilltop of Shey (the summer capital of the Leh city) is 15kms towards the South of the main city of Ladakh. It was built in 1655 after the order the king of Ladakh, Deldan Namgyal (Lhachen Palgyigon). The building which is mostly in ruins today was built by the king in the memory of his deceased father Singay Namgyal.

Thikse Gompa, of the Yellow Hat (Gelugpa) sect, is around 19 kms to the East of the main city of Leh. The architecture of the largest monastery in central region of Ladakh, is similar to the Potala Palace in Lhasa, Tibet. This 12-storey building complex consists of a number of things related to Buddhist art such as Thangka paintings, statues, stupas, swords, and so on. The building also has a nunnery..

Day 06 Leh – Khardung La Pass – Nubra Valley (By Road) (160 Km/ 4.5 hrs)
In the morning after breakfast, drive to Nubra Valley via Khardung La Pass.
NUBRA VALLEY leads through KHARDUNG-LA-PASS (the highest motorable road in the world) at 18,390 ft, around 39kms from Leh.

Down in the historic bazaar, the main sites to visit are the Jo-khang, a newly built Buddhist temple, and the imposing historic mosque founded in the late 17th century standing, almost opposite. But the pleasures of Leh are not confined to the visiting of monuments and sites. For locals and visitors alike, a stroll along the main bazaar, observing the varied crowd and looking into the curio shops is an engaging experience. A particularly attractive sight is the line of women from nearby villages sitting along the edge of the footpath with baskets of fresh vegetables brought for sale. Behind the main bazaar, Chang Gali is less bustling but has interesting little shops selling curios and jewellery. Further on are the labyrinthine alleyways and piled-up houses of the old town, clustering around the foot of the palace hill. Alchi is situated around 70 kms. from Leh on the left banks of the Indus river. The village Alchi differentiate itself from other villages of Ladakh by being so lush green. The flood plain at Alchi is very fertile and provides good and relatively extensive agricultural land. Now most of the small houses are made of bricks. The main road at both side is covered by the Apricot trees. It is a normal sight to see the donkeys (Mules) laden with wares and building material during the summers when all the activities are at their peak. The Alchi region too received cultural influence from other areas.

Day 11 Leh – Delhi (By Flight)
Morning, transfer to the airport for flight to Delhi.
On arrival, proceed for Delhi city tour. Dinner in Delhi. Overnight in Delhi.

You can enjoy taking a ride on traditional Kashmiri boats or the Shikaras to discover the intricate network of waterways of this lake.

Shalimar Gardens:- Shalimar Gardens are the piece de resistance of Srinagar’s many gardens and parks. This royal garden was laid out four hundred years ago by the Mughal Emperor Jehangir for his wife.

Nishat Bagh Gardens:- Nishat Bagh, though smaller than Shalimar, is more intensely beautiful. Descending in tiers to the Dal’s edge, Nishat is well known for its stately chinar plane trees, imported to Kashmir from distant Persia by the Mughals. Many of the giant chinar trees have been planted by the Mughals.

Pari Mahal :- Pari Mahal is as much a monument as garden. This was initially a garden built by Dara Shiko for his Sufi teacher, Mulla Shah. Once punctuated wth several springs that have since dried up, the Pari Mahal gardens are now the pride of the state. Pahalgam – The town of Pahalgam Village of Shepherds offers breathtaking views. One can just relax in one of the many hotels in Pahalgam, or trek on some of the many mountains. One can trek to Lidderwat, Kolohoi Glacier or to Sonmarg. Pahalgam is also the entry point for the famous Amarnath Cave, a holy site for Hindus.

Anantnag – At this point the road fords, one route turning northeast to Pahalgam and two others southeast to Achabal and Kokarnag or to Verinag. The Jammu road leaves this route just before Anantnag at Khanabal. Anantnag has a number of sulphur springs, esteemed for their curative properties. The largest spring is believed to be the home of Ananta, the serpent on which Lord Vishnu reclines and from which the town takes its name – ‘Abode of Ananta’. Ananta means ‘endless’ and the water issues from the base of a small hillock and rushes into another spring in the middle of which is a natural mineral deposit column which the locals revere as a lingam. On the 14th day of a full moon fortnight in September/October, there is a festival where the people fast and pour rice and milk into the spring to feed the goldfish.

A historic town that served as the royal capital of the Old Kingdom, it is dominated by the nine-storey palace built by King Singge Namgyal in the grand tradition of Tibetan architecture, which is said to have inspired the famous Potala in Lhasa built about half a century later.

Down in the historic bazaar, the main sites to visit are the Jo-khang, a newly built Buddhist temple, and the imposing historic mosque founded in the late 17th century standing, almost opposite. But the pleasures of Leh are not confined to the visiting of monuments and sites. For locals and visitors alike, a stroll along the main bazaar, observing the varied crowd and looking into the curio shops is an engaging experience. A particularly attractive sight is the line of women from nearby villages sitting along the edge of the footpath with baskets of fresh vegetables brought for sale. Behind the main bazaar, Chang Gali is less bustling but has interesting little shops selling curios and jewellery. Further on are the labyrinthine alleyways and piled-up houses of the old town, clustering around the foot of the palace hill. Day 07 Leh – Alchi – Lamayuru – Leh (By Road) (237 kms. / 5 hrs appx.)
In the morning after breakfast today visit to Alchi – Lamayuru.

Lamayuru: Often called moonland, Lamayuru has some beautiful mountains capes formed by a drained lake that are unique to the place. The slopes with their soft and creamy appearance were once working as walls of the enormous lake. Lamayuru’s Yung-Drung Gompa stands precariously perched a little high up the village. Visit the gompa, its prayer hall and its monastic school where children study Tibetan scriptures. Lamayuru is also the starting point for the trek to Padum over Sengge La.

Alchi Gompa dates back to the year 1000 AD and was built by the Translator, Rinchen Zangpo. He even made a reference about the monastery in his biographies. It is written that he brought thirty-two sculptors and wood carvers from Kashmir, for the construction of the Alchi Monastery of Leh Ladakh. The monastery is sited at a distance of approximately 67 km to the west of Leh. One can easily see an Indian touch in this monastery, especially in the way its paintings have been made.Three sacred temples, with the main one being that of Rinchen Lhakhang at Lotsa Lhakhang, make up a major part of the Alchi Gompa of Ladakh. However, there are other temples also, namely Jamyang Lhakhang Manjusri temple, Sumtsag Lhakhang and so on. There are a number of images inside the monastery. However, the main one is that of Vairocana. The other images include the ones of the five Buddha Families, along with their attendant deities.

Day 08 Leh – Nubra Valley – Leh (By Road) (160 kms. / 4hrs – One Way)
Today samde day excursions trip to Numbra Valley.
Later in the evening return back to Leh for overnight stay at hotel.

After a leisurely breakfast, we’ll drive to Spituk. Today we’ll cover Spituk Monastery, the famous Magnetic Hills, teh conflunce of Indus and Zanskar River near Nimoo and visit to Pather Sahib an inportant Sikh Pilgrimage Site.

Stock Palace 14kms – South east of Leh: Where the present day royal family resides. Stok Palace and museum was built in the year 1825, by King Tespal Tondup Namgyal. At present the place has a collection of royal dresses and crown etc. which is open for travelers.

Shey Palace 15kms south of Leh: Was built by Deldan Namgyal in the beginning of 17th century AD. The main image inn the monastery is three story statue of Buddha Shakamuni, made of copper gilt which was made by Deldan Namgyal in the memory of his father Singay Namgyal. The statue is the only of its kind in the region.

Thiksey Gompa 17kms south of Leh: The most beautifully in all the monasteries in Ladakh, belongs to the Gelukspa order.
Hemish Gompa 45kms south of Leh is one of the most famous and largest monasteries of Ladakh. It belongs to the Dupka order of Tibetan Buddhism. The monastery was founded by the first incarnation of Stasang Raspa Nawang of Stagsang Raspa Nawang gyasto in 1630, who was invited by King Singay Namgyal and offered a religious estate throughout the region.

Day 04 Leh – Nubra – Leh (By Road) (150 Kms. / 6-7 hrs. appx.)
After breakfast leave for Nubra Valley, driving across Khardong-la alt: 18,380 ft.
After descending from the pass, drive on for sightseeing of Sumoor area and Samstaling Gompa.

Agra -Historians suggest Agra to be the Agravana in the epic Mahabharata. It is expected to be known as Agralapura during the medieval age. An archaeological fact pushes the existence of Agra back to three million years. The Lodhi dynasty ruled over Agra for a long time. It was in the onset of the sixteenth century that the Mughals took over the ruling of Agra from the hands of Lodhis.

Taj Mahal Shah Jahan the great emperor and a great builder constructed Taj Mahal in the loving memory of his beloved wife Anjuman Bano Begum. Shah Jahan met this beautiful girl in his young age and later gets married with her. Taj Mahal completed in 1653 A.D. finished in by white marble, it is perhaps India most fascinating and beautiful monument.

Red Fort – The construction of the Agra fort was started around 1565 when the initial structures were built by Akbar. Shah Jahan replaced most of these with his marble creations. Some however survived, among them are – Delhi Gate., Amar Singh Gate, Akbari Mahal and the Jehangir Mahal. The fort is crescent shaped, flattened on the east with a long, nearly straight wall facing the river.

Sonamarg: is situated at a height of 2740 m in the state of Jammu and Kashmir. Sonamarg is a small and beautiful hill resort. Sonamarg is the last major point in the Kashmir valley before the Zoji La pass into Ladakh. At the pass, the green and lush Kashmiri landscape changes to the barren and dry landscape of Ladakh. Shalimar Gardens:- Shalimar Gardens are the piece de resistance of Srinagar’s many gardens and parks. The Mughal Emperor Jehangir for his wife laid this royal garden out four hundred years ago.

Nishat Bagh Gardens: Nishat Bagh, though smaller than Shalimar, is more intensely beautiful. Descending in tiers to the Dal’s edge, Nishat is well known for its stately chinar plane trees, imported to Kashmir from distant Persia by the Mughals. Tsuglagkhang: Tsuglagkhang Dalai Lama’s Temple, is the most important Buddhist monument in Mcleod Ganj. Although a relatively modest structure, it enshrines three magnificient images, including an enormous gilt statue of Shakyamuni, statues of Avalokitesvara and Padamasambhava, or Guru Rinpoche, the Indian scholar who introduced Buddhism and Tantric teachings to Tibet in the 8th century.

Dip Tse: Dip Tse Chok Ling Gompa, this beautiful little gompa lies at the bottom of a steep track which leads off the laneway past the Om Guest House. The main prayer hall houses an image of Shakyamuni, as well as two enormous drums covered in goat skin and painted around the rim, which were made by monks at the gompa. Also here are some superb butter sculptures, which are made during Losar. Fine and detailed sand mandalas are also made here.

Library: Library of Tibetan Works & Archives, down at Gangchen Kyishong, halfway between Kotwali bazaar and Mcleod is the repository of Tibet’s rich literary heritage, containing about 40% of Tibet’s original manuscripts, as well as an excellent general reference library on the Himalayan regions and a photographic archive

Tibetan Medical & Astrological Institute: Tibetan Medical & Astrological Institute is at Gangchen Kyishong, about five minutes walk below the main entrance to the library area. There is a museum, library, research unit and a college at which Tibetan medicine and astrology is taught. The museum has a well-displayed exhibition of materials used in Tibetan medicines.

Dharamsala- Set against the snow-clad Dhauladhar Mountains, Dharamshala nestles on the high slopes in the upper ranges of Kangra valley. It is a picturesque town set among thick conifer forests. Dharamshala, where the celebrated Dalai Lama has settled in exile is a spectacular Tibetan township.
Blessed with marvellous landscapes, Dharamshala is a travellers paradise with lofty snow peaks, deep gorges, lush green valleys, gushing rivers, enchanting mountain lakes, flower-adorned meadows, beautiful temples and striking monasteries, it feels like you have stepped back in time. Dharamsala offers sightseeing that ranges from temples, churches and monasteries to museums, ancient towns to places of natural beauty.

Triund Triund is situated above Mcleodganj, about 20 kms. from Dharamshala. Triund lies at the feet of the perpetually snow clad Dhauladhar at the height of 2975 m. The snow line starts at Ilaqa, 5 kms. from Triund. It is a popular picnic and trekking spot. Accommodation is available in the rest house of Forest Department, but water has to be fetched from a distance of about 2 kms. Ropeway is being installed from Dharamshala to this place.

Dharamkot Dharamkot is a popular viewpoint located on the the crest of the Dharamkot hill, about 11 kms. from Dharamshala. This picnic spot offers a panoramic view of the Kangra velley, Pong Dam lake and surrounding Dhauladhar peaks. One can reach Dharamkot by a simple trek from Bhagsu. The scenery from Dharamkot is simply breathtaking and here you can also meet the Gaddi folks.

Dal Lake the picturesque Dal Lake is a popular picnic spot situated amidst the hills and deodar trees. The pine forests surround this lake. The lake lies 11 kms. from Lower Dharamshala and connected by motorable road. It is also a starting point for excursion and trekking. Dal lake is located next to the Tibetan Children’s village. A colourful annual fair is also held here in the month of September every year.

St. John’s Church The St. John’s Church lies on a motorable road between McLeod Ganj and Forsythe Ganj, 8 kms. from Lower Dharamshala. The St. John’s Church has a monument dedicated to Lord Elgin, one of the 19th century viceroys of India, who was buried here in 1863 AD. The St. John’s Church is a Gothic building with cobblestones floors and stained glass windows. There is a Christian cemetery around it where various other British soldiers were buried.

Jallianwala Bagh: In 1919, the British under the command of General Dyer fired randomly on a peaceful gathering of people in demand of freedom, resulting in hundreds of men, women and children killed on the spot. The bullet marks on the boundary walls bring alive the agonizing tale of cruelty of the British rule. This event was one of the major incidents of India’s freedom struggle. The memorial well is also present here in which some people jumped to escape the firing. The story of the massacre is told in the Martyr’s Gallery at the site.

Golden Temple: Sri Harmandir Sahib, also known as Sri Darbar Sahib or Golden Temple, on account of its scenic beauty and golden coating for English speaking world, is named after HariGod the temple of God. The Sikhs all over the world, daily wish to pay visit to Sri Amritsar and to pay obeisance at Sri Harmandir Sahib in their Ardas. Guru Arjan Sahib, the Fifth Nanak, conceived the idea of creating a central place of worship for the Sikhs and he himself designed the architecture of Sri Harmandir Sahib.

Hemis – The position of Hemis monastery lying in a small isolated valley south of the Indus, belies its importance. As headquarters of the Drukpa Old Buddhist order, it administers monasteries throughout the whole Ladakh – from the Indus to the Zanskar valley and from the Markha to the Sumdah valley. Hemis was established at the behest of Senge Namgyal in the early 17th century and since than has enjoyed the patronage of the royal family of Ladakh. It providesmonks as caretaker for royal monasteries at the Basgo, Leh and Shey palaces.

Shey – The former palace of upper Ladakh before Leh was established, this site commanded an important vantage over the Indus valley. Since 1834 however, after the royal family moved to Stokh, much of the palace and fort fell into disrepair; even the marshland immediately below was once a clear lake.

Thiksey – One of the most imposing monasteries in the Indus valley, Thiksey was part of the original Delgupta order in the 15th century. The monk’s quarter’s stretch right the way along the hillside beneath the main assembly hall. The library at Thiksy is supposedly one of the finest in Ladakh and a multi – denominations Gompa has recently been constructed – proof indeed of the continuing vitality of Buddhism in Ladakh.

Day 10 Leh

Phyang monastery: – It is about 17km. west of Leh is remarkably built on the hilltop, similar to the Likir monastery. This monastery belongs to the Degungpa Order. It was the first monastery, which introduced the Degungpa teaching of ‘Skyob Jigsten Gonbo’ in Ladakh that was founded by Chosje Danma Kunga, during the reign of King Jamyang Namgyal in the 16th Century A.D. It has about 50 monks in residence. Phyang also has a festival called ‘Phyang Tseruk’ on the 2nd & 3rd of the 6th month of Tibetan Calendar.

Spituk:- The gompa stands prominently on the top of a hillock,8 Kms.from Leh, and commands a panaoramic view of the Indus Valley for miles. Many icons of Buddha and five thankas are found in 15th century monastery.There is also a collection of ancient masks, antique arms, and an awe inspiring image of Mahakal.

More About Leh:- Leh is the fascinating capital of the Autonomous Hill Council of Ladakh, also known as Little Tibet. The important monasteries to visit in and around Leh are Shey, Thiksey, Hemis, Spituk, Samkhar as well as the Shanti Stupa, Stok Palace and main Bazaar. The Leh palace dominating the town was the former home of the Namgyal Dynasty. The monastic festivals are very popular and Hemis, Phyang and Lamayaro festivals in summer are visited by lot of tourists who throng to see the Cham Dances.

Sankar Gompa:- Located at a distance of approximately 3 km from the town of Leh, the Sankar Gompa of Ladakh is a subsidiary of the Spituk Gompa. Ladakh Sankar Gompa has specific timings for the public, since, out of the 25 monks of the yellow-hat sect attached to it, a few reside here permanently. The Likir Gompa is Located at a distance of approximately 62 km to the west of Leh, the Likir Monastery dates back to the year 1065. It was during the reign of the fifth king of Ladakh, Lhachen Gyalpo, that Lama Duwang Chosje was offered land for building a monastery. A great champion of meditation, the Lama blessed the site and the monastery was built. The name Likir means “The Naga – Encircled”. The Likir Gompa at Ladakh was so named, as it stands encircled by the bodies of the two great serpent spirits, the Naga-rajas, Nanda and Taksako.

Alchi -Gompa of Ladakh at a distance of 67 kms from Leh dates back to the year 1000 A.D. Built by Rinchen Zangpo, it consists of a number of temples including Rinchen Lhakhang at Lotsa Lhakhang. Alchi

Gompa comprises of other temples such as Jamyang Lhakhang Manjusri temple and the Sumtsag Lhakhang. There are a number of Buddhists images and statues of their attendants too in the monastery.

Pahalgam – The town of Pahalgam Village of Shepherds offers breathtaking views. One can just relax in one of the many hotels in Pahalgam, or trek on some of the many mountains. One can trek to Lidderwat, Kolohoi Glacier or to Sonmarg. Pahalgam is also the entry point for the famous Amarnath Cave, a holy site for Hindus.

Anantnag – At this point the road fords, one route turning northeast to Pahalgam and two others southeast to Achabal and Kokarnag or to Verinag. The Jammu road leaves this route just before Anantnag at Khanabal. Anantnag has a number of sulphur springs, esteemed for their curative properties. The largest spring is believed to be the home of Ananta, the serpent on which Lord Vishnu reclines and from which the town takes its name – ‘Abode of Ananta’. Ananta means ‘endless’ and the water issues from the base of a small hillock and rushes into another spring in the middle of which is a natural mineral deposit column which the locals revere as a lingam. On the 14th day of a full moon fortnight in September/October, there is a festival where the people fast and pour rice and milk into the spring to feed the goldfish.

Day 04 Srinagar – Sonmarg – Srinagar (By Road) (80 km / 2hrs – One Way)
After breakfast, Enjoy full day trip to Sonmarg Meadow of Gold also called Gateway to Laddakh.
Return back to Srinagar. Overnight Srinagar.

Sonamarg: is situated at a height of 2740 m in the state of Jammu and Kashmir. Sonamarg is a small and beautiful hill resort. Sonamarg literally means the ‘Meadow of Gold’ and is known so due to the flowers that wraps the meadow in the spring. In the earlier days, Sonamarg lies on the main trading route into central Asia. Sonamarg is the last major point in the Kashmir valley before the Zoji La pass into Ladakh. At the pass, the green and lush Kashmiri landscape changes to the barren and dry landscape of Ladakh. Sonamarg offers various places of interest to the tourists like Nilagrad, Bisansar Lake & Krishnasar Lake and Nichnai Pass.

Day 05 Srinagar – Leh (By Flight)
After breakfast, transfer to Srinagar airport for flight to Leh, Arrive Leh, meet-assist & transfer to hotel .

Day 06 Leh
In the morning after breakfast exucrsion to Monasteries.

Leh town offers a number of sightseeing options for the visitors. A historic town that served as the royal capital of the Old Kingdom, it is dominated by the nine-storey palace built by King Singge Namgyal in the grand tradition of Tibetan architecture, which is said to have inspired the famous Potala in Lhasa built about half a century later.

Down in the historic bazaar, the main sites to visit are the Jo-khang, a newly built Buddhist temple, and the imposing historic mosque founded in the late 17th century standing, almost opposite. But the pleasures of Leh are not confined to the visiting of monuments and sites. For locals and visitors alike, a stroll along the main bazaar, observing the varied crowd and looking into the curio shops is an engaging experience. A particularly attractive sight is the line of women from nearby villages sitting along the edge of the footpath with baskets of fresh vegetables brought for sale. Behind the main bazaar, Chang Gali is less bustling but has interesting little shops selling curios and jewellery. Further on are the labyrinthine alleyways and piled-up houses of the old town, clustering around the foot of the palace hill. In the other direction, down the bazaar, are the Tibetan markets where one can bargain for pearls, turquoise, coral, lapis lazuli and many other kinds of semi-precious stones and jewellery, as well as carved yak-horn boxes, quaint brass locks, china or metal bowls, or any of a whole array of curios.

Day 07 Leh – Alchi – Lamayuru – Leh (By Road) (120 km/ 4 hrs)
In the morning after breakfast today visit to Alchi – Lamayuru.

Lamayuru: Often called moonland, Lamayuru has some beautiful mountains capes formed by a drained lake that are unique to the place. The slopes with their soft and creamy appearance were once working as walls of the enormous lake. Lamayuru’s Yung-Drung Gompa stands precariously perched a little high up the village. Visit the gompa, its prayer hall and its monastic school where children study Tibetan scriptures. Lamayuru is also the starting point for the trek to Padum over Sengge La.

Alchi Gompa dates back to the year 1000 AD and was built by the Translator, Rinchen Zangpo. He even made a reference about the monastery in his biographies. It is written that he brought thirty-two sculptors and wood carvers from Kashmir, for the construction of the Alchi Monastery of Leh Ladakh. The monastery is sited at a distance of approximately 67 km to the west of Leh. One can easily see an Indian touch in this monastery, especially in the way its paintings have been made.Three sacred temples, with the main one being that of Rinchen Lhakhang at Lotsa Lhakhang, make up a major part of the Alchi Gompa of Ladakh. However, there are other temples also, namely Jamyang Lhakhang Manjusri temple, Sumtsag Lhakhang and so on. There are a number of images inside the monastery. However, the main one is that of Vairocana. The other images include the ones of the five Buddha Families, along with their attendant deities.
Return back to Leh for overnight stay at hotel.

Day 08 Leh – Nubra Valley – Leh (By Road) (150 kms. / 4hrs – One Way)
Today samde day excursions trip to Numbra Valley.
Later in the evening return back to Leh for overnight stay at hotel.

Nubra Valley is situated about 150 km north of Leh, the capital town of Ladakh, India. Its name is derived from Ldumra the valley of flowers. The average altitude of the valley is about 10,000 ft. above the sea level. The common way to access this valley is to travel over the Khardung La from Leh where one will first encounter the Shuok Valley.

Day 09 Leh – Delhi (By Flight)
After breakfast, transfer to airport for flight to Delhi, on arrival transfer to hotel.

Day 01 Arrive Delhi (By Flight)
Fly to Delhi. On arrival in Delhi, you will be Greeted and Escorted by our Tour Executive to your Hotel.

In its 3000 years of existence; seven cities have risen where the present capital of India stands. Here you’ll encounter a fascinating blend of the ancient and the contemporary. Where government buildings, medieval palaces and bazaars exist beside a modern metropolis. Delhi is a city waiting to be explored.

Day 02 Delhi
After breakfast enjoy a full day city tour of Old & New Delhi. Visit the Red Fort the 17th century imposing fortress built in red sandstone is surrounded by a huge 33m high boundary wall. Inside are exquisite palaces and beautiful gardens.

Opposite the Red Fort lies Jama Masjid (Friday Mosque) made of red sandstone and white marble, completed in 1656 at a cost of one million Rupees has perfect proportions. India’s largest mosque where more than 20.000 people can kneel in prayer. The interior of the prayer hall is divided into aisles by arches. The walls and floors are of marble inlay panels.

Also visit the Raj Ghat on the banks of the river Yamuna is Mahatma Gandhi’s Memorial, where he was cremated following his assassination in January 1948. The memorial lies in the midst of landscaped gardens and made of a simple square platform of black marble inscribed with his last words “Hey Ram”. An eternal flame burns 24 hours.

Drive through Lutyens Delhi and see India Gate Built of Bharatpur stone, commemorates the 70,000 Indian soldiers who died in the 1st world war. 13516 names of British and Indian soldiers killed in the Afghan War of 1919 are engraved on the arch and foundations. Photo stop at Rashtrapati Bhawan once the Viceroy’s residence is now the official residence of the President of India.

Later in the afternoon explore New Delhi. Visit the Humayun’s Tomb, built by his wife Haji Begum in the 16th. Century. An early example of Mughal architecture considered the
predecessor of the Taj Mahal. The elements in its design a squat building, lighted by high arched entrances, topped by bulbous dome and surrounded by the char bagh (garden divided into quadrants), water channels and fountains.

Later visit the Qutub Minar the landmark of Delhi, a huge tower of victory started in 1199 and completed in 1368. The Minar is 72.5m high with a diameter at the base 14.4m and 2.7m at the top. The tower has 379 steps to the top.

Day 03 Delhi – Leh (By Flight)
Morning, transfer to the airport to board the flight to Leh.

On arrival in Leh, transfer to the hotel and check in.

Leh, the capital of Ladakh is situated at a height of 3505 meters and is towards the eastern parts of Jammu and Kashmir. The region is watered by the Zanskar River, which flows into the Indus River just below. Leh is a beautiful destination with so many attractions and is the center of Tibeto-Buddhist Culture for ages. Its colorful gompas have attracted the devout Buddhists from all over the globe.
Rest of the day free rest and leisure to acclimatize.

Day 04 Leh
Forenoon is free. Here you can walk around the City & visit Local Gompa.

In the afternoon visit Shankar Monastery a couple of km north of the town centre. There is a library and great views from the roof. There is an impressive representation of Avalokitesvara complete with 1000 arms and 1000 heads.

Later visit Shanti Stupa, The Japanese for World Peace built the Shanti Stupa, at Changspa, on the hilltop, and was inaugurated by Dalai Lama in 1985. Its state of the art work attracts a lot of tourists to Ladakh and is spectacular to watch. From there one can see the nice spectacular view of Leh town.

Day 05 Leh
Today we proceed for Indus Valley monastery tour. We start with a visit to Shey the ancient capital of Ladakh. The monastery here has a huge gold-gilded statue of Buddha Sakyamuni with a large silver lamp burning in front of the statue.

Then we visit Thiksey Gompa an impressive complex rising tier upon tier on a hill above the
village. The monastery has a beautiful 30 m high gold-plated statue of Maitreya Buddha, the Buddha of the future. Drive further to visit the famous Hemis Gompa founded in 1630’s by Stag-tsang-ras-pa under the royal patronage of Sengge Namgyall.

Stok palace; which is currently a museum was built in 1840 to house the Ladakhi royal family after the Dogra army had exiled them.

Later in the evening we drive back to Leh.

Day 06 Leh
Today morning set out on an excursion to the Phyang Monastery built in the 16th century by the founder of the Namgyal Dynasty. It houses hundreds of statues including some Kashmiri bronzes, thangkas and manuscript copies of old temples. The temple walls have colourful paintings of the 8th fold path of Buddha’s teachings. Later visit Spituk monastery that was founded by Old Led, in the 11th century AD. In those days the Gompa belonged to the Kadampa School but Gelukpa order was introduced during the region of King Dragspa Bum idle, when Lama Lhawang Lotus restored the monastery & Hall of Fame (war museum).

Day 07 Leh
After breakfast drive to Hemis Monastery to witness the festival.

Hemis Monastery: This is biggest and the most important monastery in Ladakh. It was built in the 17th century by Chapgon Gyalshas and ever since has enjoyed the patronage of the royal family. Hemis is the headquarter of the Drukpa order and all the monasteries throughout Ladakh are administered by it. It also trains Lamas for the royal monasteries at Leh, Shey and Bazgo. The Monastery contains gold statues and stupas decorated with precious stones and many priceless old Thankas.
Each year the Hemis Festival attracts more than its share of pilgrims & tourists. Held during the full moon in June, is a series of colourful masked dances performed to the accompaniment of cymbals, drums & long horns.

Day 08 Leh
After breakfast drive to Matho Gompa to witness the 2nd Day of festival.

This is special day to watch the Oricals. Both Oricals performs puja and change of ‘LHATHO” etc.

Day 09 Leh – Lamayuru – Alchi – Leh (By Road) (226 kms / 6.5 hrs Approx)
After breakfast to Lamayuru, and Ridzong.

Lamayuru lower ladakh its also called as sham. Lamayuru Gompa: The oldest holy site in Ladakh, it was a bon shrine prior to the advent of Buddhism. Also known as Yung Drung (Swastika) it is sited on a high promontory overlooking the village and valley. For sheer spectacle value no other Gompa can match Lamayuru.

After visit at lamayuru Gonpa the drive to Ridzong Gompa: There is no road to Rizong Gompa hence one has to walk to the monastery which is deep into the mountains. Rizong Gompa is known as the paradise for Meditation. Guru Padma Sambhava is believed to editated here for years. One can still find the small caves where Lamas used to meditate for years cutting themselves from the rest of the world except for a one feet square outlet window from where they accept the one time meal of the day.

Then we drive and cross the River Indus and reach Alchi, Ladakh’s most loved monastery. Over a century old, its wall paintings are very similar to those of the Tabo gompa in Spiti, Himachal Pradesh. Unlike other monasteries, which are usually on a cliff top or cling to a mountainside, Alchi is at ground level and is nestled in the shade of a garden.

Later drive back to Leh. Dinner & Overnight in the hotel.

Day 10 Leh – Delhi (By Flight)
Morning, transfer to the Airport to board the flight to Delhi.
On arrival in Delhi, transfer to the hotel and check in.
Later drive for the temple tour of Delhi.

Visit to Laxmi Narayan Temple, one of the biggest Hindu temples in Delhi. A big industrialist Mr. Birla built it about 50 years ago. It showcases almost all Gods worshipped by Hindus.

Later visit a Sikh temple “Bangala Sahib Gurudwara”. This is another religion started in 15th century by great sufi saint Guru Nanak.

Also visit Bhai’s temple. This is a new religion in India. There is one Bhai temple in every continent, in Asia it is in Delhi. It is made in white marble and resembles shape lotus hence also called Lotus Temple. Overnight in the hotel.

Day 11 Depart Delhi (By Flight)
On time transfer to the International Airport to board the flight for onwards journey.

DAY 1: ARRIVE IN SRINAGAR
Arrival at Srinagar Airport, Transfer to hotel & check in. Overnight in Srinagar.

DAY 2: GOLF AT ROYAL SPRING GOLF CLUB
