World-famous Dunn’s River Falls and historic St. Ann’s Bay are both on the itinerary, but first, in this exclusive excursion, you’ll get away from the busy tourist areas and travel up through the rainforest and Fern Gully on your way to Claremont, a rural market center whose economy is based on the price of agricultural produce. Here, you will stop and interact with the locals, and see how they go about their day-to-day living.

From there, follow the winding road that passes through lush cattle farms with elegant great houses perched on hilltops. You will reach Higgin Town, where you will see a beautiful view of the amazing coastline and take unforgettable pictures for memories of the island. Interact with the locals and visit an elementary school (if in session), before heading to St. Ann’s Bay.

St. Ann’s Bay was the site where Christopher Columbus first came ashore when he “discovered” Jamaica in 1494. However, there is some debate about where he landed, and who was here first. During your visit, you will get a chance to visit the local Farmers Market, interact with the vendors, and taste some of the fruits that are in season.

You will then drive to Dunn’s River Falls. The falls drop in a cascade (or steps) from a height of 600 feet down to sea level. They are constantly fed by beautiful crystal-clear water running down from the nearby mountains and rainforest. It takes about 1 hour and 30 minutes to make the entire climb. There are places along the way where you are able to slide down into pools of water, take a swim and climb again. There are local “guides” at the falls who will lead you up. These guides are separate from your tour and will expect a gratuity when you reach the top.

Next, you travel on to Ocho Rios, where you can be let off in town to do some shopping or be dropped back at the cruise pier or your hotel. Guests ending their tour in town are responsible for their transportation back to their hotel or cruise ship.

Dunn’s River Falls is roughly 600 feet above sea level, with beautiful crystal-clear water running down the mountain into the ocean. It takes about 1 hour and 30 minutes to climb all the way up the mountain. There are places along the way where you are able to slide down into pools of water, take a swim and climb again. For those who wish to stop climbing, there are multiple points where you can leave the falls and walk on the adjacent path. There are local “guides” at the falls who will lead you up. These guides are separate from your Ocho Rios tour and will expect a gratuity when you reach the top.

After departing the falls, we take a leisurely 20-30 minute drive over to the White River, where your River Tubing Adventure will begin two miles from the sea. There are bathrooms, changing rooms, and life jackets available at the beginning of the tour.

During your trip downstream you will travel through seven rapids to the midway stop where you can swim, drink a cold beer, or enjoy a complimentary fruit punch. You can also take a 20-foot cliff plunge into the river! The depth is over 12 feet and this is a safe and fun jump to make. After your stop, climb back onto your tube, glide through lush tropical greenery and take in the amazing scenery as you gently wind down the lazy river. Your driver will safeguard your belongings during the trip, and will meet you at the end of your ride, where you can spend a few minutes shopping at the local craft center.

The river tubing portion lasts between 45 and 55 minutes, depending on the current and time you spend at the midway stop.

Your Ocho Rios excursion begins with a drive through Fern Gully, which occupies the abandoned ravine of a river. This beautiful gully is lined with 600 varieties of ferns and hardwood trees.

Your first stop is the small village of Nine Mile St. Ann, where Bob Marley was born on February 6, 1945. Here you will tour the house where he grew up, meet the people who grew up with him, touch the bed he actually slept on, and learn the history of the King of Reggae. You will also visit the mausoleum where he was laid to rest on May 21, 1981.
