Arrive Panama city meet and assist at the airport and transfer to Hotel.
Welcome to fun, vibrant Panama, home to the Panama Canal, the most important waterway in the world. The Isthmus of Panama divides the North and South America continents. During your tour you’ll take two daytime cruises on the Panama Canal, one through the canal locks and another on Gatun Lake. In Panama you’ll see the Atlantic and Pacific oceans, stroll sandy beaches, explore rainforests, and meet the the native Embera tribe. Dinner is served at your hotel.

Day 02: Old Panama, Miraflores Locks
After Breakfast visit the ruins of Panama Viejo (Old Panama), the city founded by the Spanish in 1519, as a gateway for gold from the Inca Empire. Next, on your scenic drive of Panama City’s bayfront, enjoy views of Casco Antiquo (The Old French Quarter) and today’s modern skyline. Panama City is a blend of Manhattan, Miami, and Las Vegas seasoned with Latin American flavor and style. Lunch.

Visit the Canal Museum at Miraflores, overlooking the Panama Canal locks. Learn about the Canal construction and operation. From Pre-Columbian times to the present day, Panama had a prominent role as the major transit route between the Pacific and Atlantic oceans. Next, drive through the City of Knowledge, located on the former site of Fort Clayton, the headquarters of United States Army South. Enjoy dinner.

Day 03: Panama Canal Cruise – Gatun Lake
After breakfast This morning cross the Isthmus to Colon, the Caribbean port at the north end of the Panama Canal. Your short drive through Colon passes by the Free Trade Zone, the largest in the Americas and the Panama Canal Railway Station. Visit the Panama Canal Expansion Observation Center. See the newly constructed locks at the Atlantic entrance to the Panama Canal. Learn how the locks raise ships 87 feet above the Caribbean Sea on to the Panama Canal. Lunch. Afternoon boat ride on Gatun Lake, the artificial lake which forms part of the Panama Canal. See the lush jungle watershed region of the Panama Canal. Cruise through jungle canals and by hilltop islands, home to a variety of wildlife. Look for monkeys. Enjoy a relaxing two night stay at your resort located in the rainforest. Dinner.

Day 04: Panama Canal Cruise – Locks Transit
After breakfast Today an unforgettable adventure as you cruise another portion of the Panama Canal. Cruise by the Bridge of the Americas, pass through Miraflores and Pedro Miguel Locks, and cross the Continental Divide. Then wind through the Gaillard Cut to the town of Gamboa. Your small passenger vessel allows for close-up views of the opening and closing of the huge six foot thick steel gates of both the Miraflores and Pedro Miguel Locks. See, at eye-level, how transiting vessels are guided by tugboats and pulled by small trains. (Please note, route may be reversed.) Lunch. Return to your jungle resort. Stroll the gardens, swim in the pool, or enjoy the scenic views from your private balcony. Dinner.

Day 05: Embera Tribe, Playa Bonita
After breakfast cruise on the Chagres River to visit an Embera tribal village. The Embera inhabit the rainforests of Panama. See exotic Embera handicrafts, such as tightly woven palm fiber baskets and carvings made form tagua nuts and the cocobolo tree. Lunch. Look for colorful butterflies on your visit to a butterfly garden. See rare tropical orchids at an orchid nursery. Visit a live jungle sloth exhibition. Next, cross over the Panama Canal on the Centenario Bridge. Continue to your beach hotel for a relaxing two night stay on the Pacific Coast. Dinner.

Day 06: Playa Bonita
Entire day at leisure to enjoy your beach resort. Swim in your hotel’s infinity pool. Lunch. Enjoy a carefree afternoon. Time to beachcomb and enjoy your resort’s amenities. Dinner.

Day 07: Handicrafts, Biodiversity Museum
Morning return to Panama City via the Bridge of the Americas. Enjoy spectacular views from Amador Causeway connecting Perico, Naos, Culebra and Flamenco Islands. Visit a Kuna tribal marketplace. Shop for colorful Kuna mola embroidery depicting rainforest animals and marine life, and exotic wood handicrafts. Lunch. Visit the world-renowned Museum of Biodiversity, designed by architect Frank Gehry. Enjoy a farewell dinner.

Day 08: Depart Panama City
After breakfast departure transfer to the airport to catch the flight for onward journey.

Day 02: Panama Historical City and Canal Tour
Morning tour of Old Panama, climb up the Cathedral tower, the Old Panama Museum and Casco Viejo, the old city compound, which dates from the late 1600’s. Learn about the events in history leading up to the eventual movement of the capital city to its present location. See monuments to Ferdinand de Lesseps and other Frenchmen instrumental in the ill-fated attempt by the French to construct a canal through Panama.

Continue on to visit the Miraflores Locks at the Panama Canal where large ships can be seen transiting the canal. Enjoy a presentation on the history of the Panama Canal and marvel at the workings of this feat of human engineering. Lunch will be in a local restaurant. Continue to the Panama Canal area and the town of Balboa. Stop at the folk art market at the old YMCA building. Late afternoon you will return to your hotel in Panama City.

Day 03: Exploring Panama
Once you arrive to Colon province you will have the opportunity to visit the Agua Clara Visitors Center and be amazed by the panoramic view of the Agua Clara Locks. It has the same concept of the Gatun Locks, but was reinvented to handle bigger cargo, re-using water and locking the chambers with rolling gates. After enjoying the panoramic view, continue onto the screening room where you will learn more about the construction and effort of several Panamanians of this modern engineering masterpiece.

After passing through old military ground you will arrive to Fort of San Lorenzo, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, built at the mouth of the Chagres River. This Spanish bastion served to fortify and protect the river entrance to Las Cruces Trail that led to Panama City on the Pacific Ocean. This entrance was later used as the port of entry for gold diggers on their way to California during the second half of the 19th century. You will be traveling through lush rainforest within San Lorenzo National Park, where you might have the opportunity to see monkeys, Two and Three-toed sloths, coatimundis, toucans and other wildlife. Lunch included in a local restaurant.

After the tour you will be transferred to the train station for your ride to Panama City. The Isthmus Railway offers an unforgettable experience joining two oceans. This is one of the most important historic routes in Panama. Relive the experience of the California Gold Rush and enjoy this scenic ride: observing the rain forest in the heart of Panama from inside your train car.

Day 04 : Partial Canal Transit
Your Panama Canal tour starts with an early morning pick-up at your hotel for a short transfer to Flamenco Island, at the Causeway of Amador on the Pacific side of the canal. You will first sail under the bridge of the Americas, which raises over 100 meters above sea level and reunites the land divided during construction of the canal forming another link in the Pan-American Highway. Lunch is served in buffet style.

The Panama Canal is 80 kilometers long from deep waters in the Pacific Ocean to deep waters in the Caribbean Sea. It was cut through the lowest and one of the narrowest saddles of the long mountainous Isthmus that joins North and South America. The original elevation was 95 meters above sea level where it crosses the Continental Divide. You will cross the two locks at the Pacific side: Miraflores and Pedro Miguel locks, before meeting a vehicle which returns you to your hotel.

Note this Transit can either go northbound or southbound it depends on the day and Panama Canal Authority. The above description describes the northbound transit. Also please note that due to the dry season and low water levels in Gatun Lake, which provides water to all the Canal operations, the Panama Canal Authority has implemented strict water conservation guidelines. These measures restrict transit schedules and may cause changes in Canal Transit departure times. A representative will be in contact with you the day before the transit to confirm the pickup transit time.

Day 01: Arrive in Panama city, panama.
Arrive in beautiful, colorful, and vibrant Panama City. Built in 1519 by Pedro Arias de Avila, a Spanish conquistador who made it his base for plundering Peru’s riches, Panama today remains one of the central hubs for commerce and trade in the Americas. Panama offers diverse natural wonders, a melting pot of cultures and historical as well as modern cityscapes.

Day 02: Panama city–david–boquete.    B
A short flight brings you to David in the province of Chiriqui. This enchanted land is the Chiriqui Highlands, the part of Cordillera Central that defines the northern border of the province of Chiriqui. It is a beautiful landscape of cloud forests, volcanic peaks, and coffee plantations, and it is home to most of Panama’s Ngöbe Buglé Indians. Here, you will find rainforests bedecked full of chattering iridescent birds, flowering epiphytes high above the forest floor, and gurgling streams making their way toward the nearby sea. Arrive at your resort in Boquete this afternoon.

Day 03: Boquete.          B
This morning, the choice is yours. Perhaps visit Finca Lerida, located just outside Baru Volcano National Park. Keep an eye out for the elusive resplendent quetzal, 3-wattled bellbird, black-faced solitaire, volcano hummingbird, long-tailed silky flycatcher, and prong-billed barbet amid the ancient trees covered with orchids, bromeliads, and lichens. Or, explore La Amistad International Park. Shared with neighboring Costa Rica, La Amistad is located on the Central American natural land bridge where flora and fauna from North and South America mix. Spend some time hiking and exploring the area in search of the resplendent quetzal, the Andean pygmy owl, and many western highland birds.

Day 04: Boquete.        B
Today is free to do as you please. Perhaps take an optional trip to the Caldera Hot Springs to soak in the thermally heated waters; visit Café Ruiz, where experts explain the process coffee beans go through; take an adrenaline-filled zipline tour through the cloud forest’s canopy; or enjoy a scenic horseback ride.

Day 05: Boquete–Panama City.          B
Depart Boquete and transfer to the airport for your included flight to Panama City.

Day 06: Panama City.          B
After breakfast, your private city tour visits Casco Antiguo, the colonial area and oldest sector of modern Panama City, founded in 1673 and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This historic district was built as a protected walled city after Panama City was burned down in a pirate attack in 1671. Here, see the restored colonial buildings, churches, and historical monuments. Next, visit the Miraflores Locks at the Panama Canal to witness this engineering genius in operation. During your guided tour, learn about the history of the canal and its construction, and observe transiting vessels navigating the locks from just a few feet away.

Day 07: Panama City–Gamboa Rainforest Resort.      B-L
Today, a special treat is in store when you board a vessel for a Panama Canal partial transit. Your boat will enter the canal at the Gailard Cut, where the Chagres River flows into the canal and where the canal was carved through the Continental Divide. Enter the Pedro Miguel Locks, where your vessel will be lowered approximately 30 feet into Miraflores Lake. Continue to the Miraflores Locks to be lowered almost 60 feet to the Pacific Ocean. Disembark your ship and head to Gamboa Rainforest Resort within Soberania National Park.

Day 08: Gamboa Rainforest Resort.            B-L
An enchanting journey takes you deep into the dense jungles of the Chagres, where the Emberá Indians have lived for centuries. The adventure begins with a river cruise up the Chagres in dugout canoes, the Emberá traditional hand-carved boats. Upon arrival at the Indian village, you will be taken back in time as you are immersed in ancient Emberá cultural dances and music that have not changed much since Columbus arrived in the 1500s. The Emberás will give you a glimpse into their mystical rituals and amazing knowledge of medicinal plants and other natural remedies. The Indians will invite you to explore the area’s abundant variety of birds and wildlife during a trek that takes you through the untouched jungle and past sparkling waterfalls. Top off your visit with a typical lunch in the village.

Day 09: Gamboa Rainforest Resort.          B
Enjoy a free day to take advantage of the resort’s many activities, like an aerial tram tour, kayaking, fishing, or birding and monkey tours. Alternatively, simply relax by the pool or at the spa.

Enjoy three nights here to discover these beautiful islands at your own pace.

Day 11: Bocas Del Toro.          B
Enjoy two free days to relax and explore Bocas del Toro. Perhaps take an optional excursion to Bird Island, a small, rocky island in the middle of the ocean that serves as a migratory rest stop for birds traveling from North to South and back again. Or, take an excursion to Bastimentos National Park, Panama’s first national park. Here, you will discover mangroves, lowland forests, rainforests, and lagoons teeming with birds, monkeys, sloths, reptiles, and much more. You will also visit a nearby indigenous community to meet some locals. These are just a sampling of activities during your time here—the choice is yours!
