Day 01 Arrive Delhi By Flight
Arrive Delhi meet and assist transfer to hotel.
Overnight in Delhi.

Day 02 Delhi–Bagdogra (By Flight)/Bagdogra – Hatti Dunga (By Road) (5 hrs)
After breakfast transfer to airport to catch flight for Bagdogra.
On arrival in Bagdogra you will be met and driven 5 hours to Hatti Dunga, your first village house Located near Rinchenpong, Hatti Dunga which literally means “Elephant rock” is a charming village; The village house is an authentic three-bedroom wooden house, aged more than 70 years old and set in a tiered garden, with uninterrupted views down the valley. In the early evening, you will be given an introductory briefing of your tour by your Shakti guide.

Day 03 Hatti Dunga
A gradual walk up will lead you to an old traditional Lepcha house which is 150 years old. Continue to walk and come across a typical mountain village market in Rinchenpong and reach the village of Yangsum You may also be driven to Yangsum; this will shorten the walk by 45 minutes. Passing Yangsum village through a forests, you will walk 45 minutes further to Maggi Dara and enjoy a picnic lunch nearby. After lunch, you will have the option to walk or be driven back to Hatti Dunga.

Day 04 Hatti Dunga – Hee (By Road) (5 hrs. appx.)
Rise early and walk or be driven 5 minutes to Rinchenpong Monastery for early morning prayers. Then visit a 200 years old family monastery. You will follow the trail down via the Rinchenpong monastery, continuing through the village of Bhasmay and then enter Jowbari where you will be served lunch. As you continue you will reach the Bermiok monastery and then the charming village of Hee – your next village house. Hee house belongs to a local family;The house is a small structure facing the owner’s fields and the mountains. It has two renovated bedrooms with en suite bathrooms.

Day 05 Hee – Radhu Khandu  (By Road) (4 hrs. 30 mins. Appx.)
This morning if the weather is clear, you can wake up early to view the sun rising with Kanchenjunga in the background. Today you will walk uphill through the Red Panda wildlife sanctuary till your trail reaches a stream, follow the path ahead for 2 hours and you will reach your village house at Radhu Khandu. The house at Radhu Khandu is a charming traditional Sikkimese house with three en suite bedrooms. The location is sublime and there is nothing better than having tea in the sit out room which has amazing views of the area

Day 06 Radhu Khandu
Explore the laid back village of Khandu, walk through the cardamom fields and take a tea break at one of the local houses owned by a retired school teacher whose life long experiences become a point of great conversation Then you will follow a path which leads to the beautiful 150 years old monastery and follow a path to the rhododendron ridge for a delicious picnic lunch. Walk back to your village house. Enjoy your farewell drinks and dinner at the house tonight.

Day 07 Radhu Khandu – Bagdogra (5 hrs. Appx.)/Bagdogra–Delhi/ Dep. Delhi
After breakfast, you will walk back down to the road head (around twenty minutes). From here you will be driven for about 5 hours to the Bagdogra Airport for your onward flight to Delhi.

Day 02 Delhi – Leh (By Flight) / Leh – Nimmoo (By Road) (35 Kms. / 01 hrs)
Fly from Delhi to Leh and be met and driven to the Shakti village house in Nimoo where we recommend complete rest, to aid your acclimatization. Nimoo (3190m/10463ft) is a large village, situated 36km west of Leh along the Indus valley at the confluence of the Zanskar and Indus rivers The village is characterized by impressive mountain scenery, surrounded by lush green fields and apricot, apple, and walnut orchards abound. As you will be acclimatizing today, we recommend that you spend the day taking it very easy relaxing at your house.

Day 03 Nimoo
After breakfast go on a leisurely walk of the village of Nimoo with your guide for a fascinating insight into rural Ladakhi life before returning to the village house for lunch. After lunch, relax in the village house or visit the Basgo Fort in the late afternoon. At Basgo (3295m/10808ft) there are three ‘Future Buddha’ monasteries completed in the 16th century, interesting for its Islamic architecture. This evening you could take a cooking lesson in the kitchen with your Shakti private chef.

Day 04 Nimoo
After a leisurely breakfast, you will drive up the Zanskar canyon to the village of Chilling (3236m/10614ft), around an hour from Nimoo. Chilling is a settlement that is traditionally home to metal smiths and has provided copper, bronze, tin, silver and iron work to Leh through the centuries. You will get the chance to see the local metal smith at work before rafting for two hours to the shores of the village of Nimoo where you will be served a picnic lunch. After lunch, relax at the village house, or if you are feeling active, take a hike this afternoon with your guide. Relax this evening under the stars before dinner in the charming Ladakhi Kitchen

Day 05 Nimmoo – Stok (By Road) (20 Kms. / 30 min Appx.)
This morning visit the charming Phyang monastery, which is 45 minutes away by drive.Take a hike around the surrounding area, which will end with a picnic lunch at a lovely spot with the monastery in the background. You will then be driven for 1.5 hours to your next village house in Stok. The glorious village of Stok (3650m/11972ft) lies at the foot of Stok Kangri which at 6120m (20,073ft) is not Ladakh’s highest mountain, but one of its most beautiful. Later today, you may walk a walk or cycle around the royal village of Stok.

Day 06 Stok – Moncarmo
Start a 3 day trek, setting off by foot towards your first campsite at Moncarmo. You will follow a small river up a narrow valley for around two hours until you reach Changma where there is a tea house. Continue to walk for another hour to Moncarmo (4250m/13,727ft), where you will camp for the night. Accommodation will be in dome tents, though Shakti’s usual standard of food and service will make up for the simplicity of the accommodation Enjoy light and healthy snacks during the trek. Lunch and dinner will be served at the campsite

Day 07 Moncarmo – Matho Phu (By Road) (2 hrs. Appx.)
Begin walking in an easterly direction from your campsite to cross a glacial stream and gently begin climbing uphill for about an hour and a half to get to the Matho La (Matho pass) at an altitude of 4900 m/16,076 ft. You will continue walking downhill for about an hour and a half till you reach the high altitude pasture and summer settlement of Matho village 4400m (14436 ft) which is your campsite for the second night Enjoy light and healthy snacks during the trek. Lunch and dinner will be served at the campsite.

Day 08 Matho Phu – Shang Phu
Walk down the valley for about an hour and cross a glacial stream. You will continue to climb up the trail for another hour to reach a small pass, and then begin to descend to the valley. Put a prayer flag in the stone cairns at the pass before walking for another hour down a narrow valley to reach the high altitude pastures of Shang village (4500 m/ 14764 ft) where you will camp for the night Enjoy light and healthy snacks during the trek. Lunch and dinner will be served at the campsite.

Day 09 Shang Phu- Ranbirpur (By Road) (01 hrs. appx)
After breakfast, walk down for an hour to Shang village, where a Shakti car will be waiting for you. You will then proceed to Hemis monastery, which is 45 minutes away. visit the monastery and the museum with your guide, you will have a picnic lunch. After lunch, you could take a short walk around the monastery.You will then be driven for 45 minutes to The River House, which is located in Stakna’s neighboring village Ranbirpur. It is Shakti’s first 4 bedroom house, located by the bank of river Indus, offering spectacular views of the Stok Kangri range of mountains and three monasteries – Stakna, Matho & Thiksey.

Day 10 Ranbirpur
For those who are prepared to get up at around 5 am, we recommend starting early and driving for 30 minutes to Thiksey monastery to experience the early morning Buddhist prayers. After a picnic breakfast, you will explore the historic village of Shey. Return to your village house for lunch. Later today, if you are feeling active, you may take a walk to the interesting Stakna monastery located across the river from the River house.

Day 11 Ranbirpur – Leh / Leh – Delhi (By Flight) / Depart Delhi
This morning, you will be driven for an hour to Leh airport for your flight to Delhi. On arrival catch connect flight back to home.

Day 05 Nimoo – likhir (By Road) (20 Kms. / 30 min Appx.)
This morning head out to Alchi(3120m/10233ft), a fascinating monastery and the only one in Ladakh to be built on flat ground, unlike the others which were always on hilltops. The temple was founded in the 11th century and is particularly interesting for its Indian and Kashmiri influences. Drive for about 20 minutes and enjoy a picnic lunch at Saspol.Afterwards drive to the village of Likhir from where you have the option of walking in to our next village house over looking the village or journey by car. The remoteness of the house is best understood in the true
clarity of the stars overhead.

Day 06 Likhir
Today you will visit Lamayuru, 2½ hours away. Lamayuru monastery is the most ancient monastery of Ladakh, founded in the 10th century. According to popular folktale Lamayuru was

once a lake. Your guide will take you on a walk around Lamayuru monastery. After lunch visit Rizong Monastery, which is noted for its extremely strict rules and standards followed by each monk who meditates here.

Day 07 Likhir – Ranbirpur (By Road) (06 hrs. Appx.)
Visit Phyang, located 1½ hours away from Likhir. Stop here for lunch and to visit the dramatic monastery with your private guide. The monastery houses a 900-year-old museum and contains numerous sacred shrines and frescoes dating from the royal period. You will then be driven for an hour to the River House, located in Stakna’s neighboring village Ranbirpur. It is Shakti’s first 4 bedroom house, located by the bank of river Indus, offering spectacular views of the Stok Kangri range of mountains and three monasteries – Stakna, Matho & Thiksey. We will arrange for a visit to the local oracle later this evening.

Day 08 Ranbirpur
For those who are prepared to get up at around five am, we recommend starting early and driving for 30 minutes to Thiksey monastery (3400m/11152ft) to experience the early morning Buddhist prayers. Next you will visit Ladakh’s largest monastery, Hemis (3500m/11480ft). Alternatively for those keen on hiking you have the option of a full day hike. The hike we are recommending is the first day of the four day return trek to the top of Stok Kangri, which is the highest mountain in the Stok range and Ladakh’s most famous mountain.

Day 09 Ranbirpur – Leh (By Road) (01 hrs. appx) / Leh-Delhi-Home (By Flight)
This morning after breakfast you will be driven for an hour to the domestic airport for your flight to Delhi. On arrival Catch flight for onward journey.

This morning board your train from Delhi, departing at 0600hrs, arriving into Kathgodam at 1140hrs. On arrival, your Shakti guide will collect you from the station and you will be driven to the Almora region (3½ hours away). En route you will stop for lunch. Take a short walk into the village of Jwalabanj and enjoy a leisurely evening

Day 03 Jwalabunj – Leti (By Road)  (155 Kms / 5H appx)
This morning you will walk for 10 minutes to the road head where you will be driven for 5 hours to Shakti 360° Leti. There will then be a walk of 5 minutes to the property.

Day 04 Leti
Your days at Shakti 360° Leti can include hikes, more gentle walks, time spent at the small charming school close by or spend time in the kitchen with the chefs. Lunches will either be as picnics on longer hikes, or return for lunch under the shamiana, with mesmerizing views down the Ramganga Valley. Enjoy peaceful time reading, or playing backgammon or simply snoozing your day is yours to spend as you wish. Spend the evenings by the fire before a home cooked supper by candle-light

Day 05 Leti (By Road) (80 Kms / 3H 30 M appx)
Your days at Shakti 360° Leti can include hikes, more gentle walks, time spent at the small charming school close by or spend time in the kitchen with the chefs. Lunches will either be as picnics on longer hikes, or return for lunch under the shamiana, with mesmerizing views down the Ramganga Valley. Day 06 Leti – Kana
This morning after a leisurely breakfast, you will be driven 5 hours to Kana. Enroute, you will have the option to visit the main town of Almora. Visit the Panchachuli Women’s Factory – founded in the late 1990’s. For those of you who wish to walk more, there is a beautiful hike near Kana.

Day 07 Kana-Kathgodam (102 Km/ 3H 30M) / Kathgodam–Delhi (By Train)
This morning after a leisurely breakfast you will be driven back to Kathgodam Railway Station for 4.5 hours for your journey back to Delhi.You will board your train (Shatabdi Express) departing at 15:35 hrs and arrive into Delhi at 21:05 hrs. Alternatively you could take the flight from Pantnagar to Delhi. There is an Air India flight operating four times a week on; Tues/Weds/Fri/Sat (Pantnagar to Delhi).

This morning you will board your train (Shatabdi express) departing at 0600hrs from New Delhi railway station and arriving into Kathgodam at 1140hrs.On arrival in Kathgodam you will be met and driven to the Almora region (3½ hours away) from where the Village Walks will begin. En route you will stop for lunch You will then begin walking from the village of Chitai – also famous for the Chitai temple (god of justice) for about 2 hours to reach your first village house in the small and sleepy town of Deora

Day 03 Deori – Jwalabunj (By Road) (155 Kms / 5 H appx)
Setting off from Deora, you will walk for thirty minutes towards the village of Chirala where you can visit the local school. Continue along the path, passing a ‘ghatt’ (water powered flour mill) and terraced fields through the village of Palyu, before climbing for twenty minutes to the road head at Ka- Chula pool From Ka-Chula Pool you have the option of taking our car to Dhaulchina, around twenty minutes away, before walking gradually uphill for thirty minutes to the lunch spot. After lunch, continue walking gradually uphill through stunning rhododendron forest for around 1½ hours until you reach the village of Jwalabanj.

Day 04 Jwalabunj
This morning you may wish to wake early and head up the ridge where at the view point – you can witness the grandeur of the rising sun, as it lights up ‘the Nanda Devi’ in shades of orange. You will then visit Jageshwar Temple Complex built in the 8th century, which is very interesting to explore. We will organize a picnic lunch at a lovely spot nearby There is an additional walk through the forest for those who are more energetic, or you could be driven directly to your village house.

Day 05 Jwalabunj – Leti (By Road) (80 Kms / 3H 30 M appx)
This morning you will walk for 10 minutes to the road head where you will be met and driven for around 5 hours to Leti. Later today you could take a cooking lesson with your chef and learn how to make some of our favourite Shakti dishes, like Momos & Biriyani.

Day 06 Leti
At Leti, you may take gentle walks or more strenuous hikes out into the countryside, and picnic hampers and guides are provided. You may just like to be at leisure to enjoy the surroundings. Spend your evening curled up in a pashmina blanket with a book from our collection or play a board game.

Day 07 Leti
You will have the option of doing an overnight camp at the Lodhura top. A strenuous walk up from the campsite, through a narrow path brings you to a flat piece of pastureland. One can see this land from the campsite, and it offers a fabulous sense of achievement to reach this area. Dinner will be prepared by your Shakti chef this evening and you will feast next to the fire under the most amazing blanket of stars over head.

Day 08 Leti – Kana (By Road)  (50 Kms. / 2 H appx).
This morning after a leisurely breakfast, you will be driven 5 hours to the village of Kana. Enroute, you will have the option to visit the main town of Almora. Visit the Panchachuli Women’s Factory – Panchachuli Women Weavers Co-operative. For those keen on Kumaon trekking you could leave early from Shakti 360° so you can reach the Kana village well in time to take a beautiful hike in this area.

Day 09 Kana – Kathgodam (102 Km/ 3H 30M) / Kathgodam – Delhi (By Train)
 This morning after breakfast you will be driven back to Kathgodam Railway Station for 4 hours for your journey back to Delhi. You will board your train (Shatabdi Express) departing at 1535 hrs and arriving into Delhi at 2050 hrs. On arrival meet-assist at railway station and transfer to hotel. Overnight at hotel.

Day 10 Depart Delhi  (By Flight)
Final departure transfer to airport for flight back to home.

Continue along the path, passing a ‘ghatt’ (water powered flour mill) and terraced fields through the village of Palyu, climbing for 20 minutes to the road head at Ka-Chula pool from where you will have the option of taking our car to Dhaulchina, , walking gradually uphill for 30 minutes to the lunch spot. After lunch, continue walking through stunning rhododendron forest for around 1½ hrs until you reach the village of Jwalabanj.

Day 04 Jwalabanj
This morning after breakfast, you will gradually climb up the south-west ridge, walking on the trails that were once used to transfer resin on horse backs, which now still is a boost for the local economy. In an hour and a half, further down the ridge you will start descending to Artola village. You will walk through the terraced fields and will reach your picnic spot which is laid on a hill top. After lunch, you will continue to walk uphill through the village of Kutul. Upon ascending this ridge, you will then take a small trail that will lead you to back to Jwalabanj.

Day 05 Jwalabanj – Kana (By Road) (80 Kms / 3H 30 M appx)
This morning after breakfast, you will start with a downhill walk through green terraced fields brings you to the Jageshwar Temple Complex built in the 8th century, which is very interesting to explore. Some distance ahead we have arranged lunch for at a lovely spot by a stream. Another hour further you will reach the village of Kana. For those who wish to walk more, there is a beautiful three hour walk from the house through rhododendron, pine and oak forests.

Day 06 Kana – Kathgodam (102 Km/ 3H 30 M) / Kathgodam – Delhi (By Train)
This morning after breakfast you will be driven back to Kathgodam Railway Station for 4 hours for your journey back to Delhi. You will board your train (Shatabdi Express) departing at 1535 hrs and arriving into Delhi at 2105 hrs.
There is an Air India flight operating four times a week on; Tues/Weds/Fri/Sat (Pantnagar to Delhi).

Day 07 Depart Delhi
Board flight for onward journey.
