Day 03 Kohima
After breakfast drive to the Kisama village for the spectacular Hornbill Festival. Revel in this marvelous riot of colour as you watch all 16 tribes of Nagaland show off the rich fare of diverse cultures and traditional arts that is Nagaland. You can witness the attire, folk music and dance forms, headgear, cuisines, paintings, handicrafts, and other intricacies of the varied tribes and sub-tribes of the state. The highlight of the festival is not only the music and dance, whether traditional or contemporary; but also the display of exquisite handicraft and handloom, which is bound to leave you enchanted. Adding to the excitement is a motor rally, traditional sports like wrestling and archery, a literary fest, and fun events like climbing a greased bamboo pole or chilli eating contests.

Having built up an appetite, you return to camp for a sumptuous lunch after which you can choose to relax in its serene surroundings.

In the evening, you have the option of returning to the festivities of the Hornbill festival, in the capital city, Kohima. After breakfast this morning head out for your last day at the Hornbill festival. Enjoy the festivities with the tribes as they enthrall with their distinct costumes and perform traditional Naga dances and ceremonies.

Following lunch, if a little relaxation is in order, spend the afternoon at leisure in the tranquility of the camp. Or you may wish to explore the charming Kigwema village, just a few kilometers drive away.

Kigwema is a quaint old village of the Angami tribe. Literally ‘inheritance of the house’, it is believed that many other Angami villages originated from here. In 1944, the Japanese forces came to Kigwema on their way to attack Kohima, and were provided shelter by the villagers. Walk through the lanes of the village seeing the traditional houses with their impressive wooden pillars, arriving at a local house to experience the Angami way of life over a cup of traditional tea.

Later this evening, you have the option to enjoy the cultural festivities in Kohima for the last time. Return to the camp sated from the exhilarating experience at the festival, with memories to last a lifetime!

Day 05 Kohima
After breakfast tour of Kohima, the capital of Nagaland. Kohima played a key role in World War II, where the Naga tribes fought alongside Allied forces against Japan on the tennis court of the British Deputy Commissioner’s house. Visit the beautiful war cemetery built on a terraced hillside for the brave hearts that died in the war and visit a private museum that holds some of the best artifacts from World War II. From here, continue to the Angami village of Khonoma where you’ll relish a local lunch. Admire the traditional architecture of carved gateways and surrounding stone walls, visit morungs and participate in indigenous games like wrestling with the local warriors.

Spend the evening in the comfort of your camp as your valet fixes you a sun downer before enjoying the delicacies prepared for dinner. Overnight in Kohima.

Day 06 Kohima
This morning, after breakfast the excitement continues as you revisit the Hornbill festival where you spend the rest of the morning immersing yourself in this vibrant extravaganza.

In the afternoon, following a leisurely lunch, revel in your luxurious surroundings at the camp as you enjoy a book, play a game of chess or go for a stroll. Or if you are still keen to further immerse yourself in the Naga culture, you may choose to visit the village of Jakhama, 5kms drive from the camp. The name Jakhama is derived from ‘Mejakhama’ which means ‘laying resistance against intruders’. The village was the first line of defense against the neighboring Manipur kingship. Jakhama’s prosperous houses, built in unique styles and designs, are a sight to behold. Visit the great granaries where families can store grains for years. End your visit in high spirits with a glass of the local rice beer called ‘khie’.

In the evening you can choose to head back to Kohima to catch more of the night events before returning to the comfort of the camp for a lavish dinner.

Arrival at Delhi International Airport, meet and assist, welcome with fresh flower garland and transfer to Hotel.

After breakfast full day city tour of Delhi.

Delhi – India’s capital and a major gateway to the country. New Delhi also reflects the legacy the British left behind. The division between New & Old Delhi is the distinction between the capitals of the British & the Moghuls respectively. Tourist Attractions: Jama Masjid, the largest mosque in India. Built by Shah Jahan, Chandni Chowk and Rajghat – the cremation site of Mahatma Gandhi. The Lakshmi Narayan Temple or the Birla Temple as it is popularly known enshrines Lord Vishnu – the preserver of the Hindu Trinity. Witness the India Gate, the Presidents House & the Parliament, Qutab Minar – Qutubuddin Aibak laid the foundation of Qutab Minar, as a victory tower, in 1199 AD.

Day 03 Jaipur 
After breakfast full day city tour of Jaipur including elephant  / Jeep ride at Amber Fort. Overnight stay in Jaipur.

Jaipur the vibrant capital of Rajasthan is popularly known as the ‘ Pink City ‘ because of the pink-coloured buildings in its old city. It sits on a dry lake bed in a somewhat arid landscape, surrounded by barren hills surmounted by forts and crenellated walls.

Amber Fort – Amber is located at a distance of 11 kilometers from Jaipur and was the old fort of the Kachhwaha clan of Amber, which used to be the capital, till it was moved to Jaipur. The construction of the Amber Fort began in the year 1592 and was started by Man Singh I, but it was finished by his descendant Jai Singh.

City palace The City Palace was built by Maharaja Jai Singh II of the Kachhwaha clan of Rajputs, but a lot of changes and additions were made to the original structure by his successors. The architecture of the City Palace is a synthesis of Rajasthani and Mughal styles.

Jantar Mantar The Jaipur observatory was built in 1728. There is actually a fascinating story in relation to the construction of the Observatory. According to the story, Sawai Jai Singh II sent his envoys to various parts of the world. The observatory has the Jaiprakash Yantra, Samrat Yantra, Ram Yantra and the Composite instrument, which comprises of a sundial and a massive hemisphere.

Hawa Mahal The palace is shaped like a pyramid and is a five-storied building, with number of small windows and screens, with arched roofs. As one looks at this building, one realizes that the rear side of the building is comparatively very plain and lacks much of ornamentation.

Day 04 Jaipur – Fatehpur Sikri – Agra (By Surface) (237 kms & 05 hrs approx)
After breakfast drive towards Agra enroute visit Fatehpur Sikri.

Fatehpur Sikri – Built in red sandstone, the historic city of Fatehpur Sikri conceptualized by Akbar the Great, is one of the brilliant examples of architectural creations. One of the favorite tourist attractions in India, Fatehpur Sikri was completed in 1578, and built in honor of the Sufi Saint, Sheikh Salim Chishti by offering prayers to whom Akbar could fulfill his desire of a male. Strongly speaking of the religious tolerance of Akbar, the architecture of Fatehpur Sikri depicts a healthy blend of Hindu and Islamic styles of architecture.

Diwan-I-Am: Diwan-I-Am or the Hall Of Public Audience was used for the public meetings, as was the practice in Mughal empires. All the celebrations and public prayers were conducted here.

Diwan-Khana: This enclosure that is Hall of Private Audience was used for private and special meetings. It was beautifully designed.

Salim Chisti’s Tomb: Fatehpur Sikri in India Tomb of religious leader Sheikh Salim Chisti is surrounded by marbles, geometric work screens and the canopy above is inlaid with mother-of-Pearl. This holy place is worshiped by both Hindus and Muslims. The architectural wonder of Mughal era is a must visit tourist point in Fatehpur Sikri.

Later drive towards Agra. Overnight stay in Agra

Day 05 Agra
After breakfast full day city tour of Agra. Overnight in Agra.

Agra -Historians suggest Agra to be the Agravana in the epic Mahabharata. It is expected to be known as Agralapura during the medieval age. An archaeological fact pushes the existence of Agra back to three million years. The Lodi dynasty ruled over Agra for a long time. It was in the onset of the sixteenth century that the Mughals took over the ruling of Agra from the hands of Lodi’s.

Taj Mahal Shah Jahan the great emperor and a great builder constructed Taj Mahal in the loving memory of his beloved wife Anjuman Bano Begum. Shah Jahan met this beautiful girl in his young age and later gets married with her. Taj Mahal completed in 1653 A.D. finished in by white marble, it is perhaps India most fascinating and beautiful monument. Not only is it recognized in just India but also all over the world. These perfectly symmetrical monuments took 22 years (1630-1652) of hard labor and 20,000 workers.

Red Fort – The construction of the Agra fort was started around 1565 when the initial structures were built by Akbar. Shah Jahan replaced most of these with his marble creations. Some however survived, among them are – Delhi Gate, Amar Singh Gate, Akbari Mahal and the Jehangir Mahal. The fort is crescent shaped, flattened on the east with a long, nearly straight wall facing the river.

Itimad Ud Daulah tomb- The first example of a tomb built on a riverbank in India, the Itimad Ud Daulah tomb houses the body of Mirza Ghiyas Beg, the father Mughal Empress Noor Jahan who again was Emperor Jahangir’s wife. This beautiful tomb situated on the banks of the Yamuna is also known as the ‘baby Taj’. Built around 1625 AD.

Day 06 Agra – Lucknow (By Surface) (336 Kms. / 4 hrs. Appx.)
Morning transfer to railway station to catch the express train for Lucknow. On arrival meet and assist at station transfer to hotel. PM city tour of Lucknow. Overnight in Lucknow.

Lucknow- The legacy of the imperial splendor of Lucknow has always fascinated people all over the world. The ambience of Awadh has commonly been associated with the leisurely habits, etiquette, architecture, food and refinement, the residues of Nawabi culture. Place to visit here Bara Imambara, Chota Imamabad Rumi Darwaza, Shah Najaf Imambara , the Residence.

Day 07 Lucknow – Dudhwa (By Surface) (222 Kms & 4½ hrs approx)
After breakfast drive towards Dudhwa on arrival check in at the hotel. PM free to walk along the near by places. Overnight in Dudhwa.

The Jaagir Lodge located at the edge of the Dudhwa National Park. The drive to the lodge is an introduction to the Terai region, a journey of four hours approximately, taking you through countryside roads known for sugarcane, litchi and mango farming.

On arrival at the charming Jaagir lodge, soak in the serenity of the surroundings as you are escorted to your luxurious room. After the check-in formalities, relax in the comfort of your lodge. Later, set out for a gentle walk around the lodge, to acquaint yourself with the fauna and flora of these rural surroundings. In the evening, your resident naturalist will introduce the wild terrain of Dudhwa Tiger Reserve, highlighting the varied activities included as part of your stay. In addition, a list of exciting optional experiences and escorted game drives will be shared.

Day 08 Dudhwa
After breakfast, visit Dudhwa National park, evening free to walk around nearby place. Overnight say in Dudhwa.

The Dudhwa National Park is in the Terai region of Uttar Pradesh, India, and covers an area of 490.3 km2 (189.3 sq mi), with a buffer zone of 190 km2 (73 square miles). It is part of Dudhwa Tiger Reserve. It is located on the Indo-Nepal border in Lakhimpur Kheri district, and reserved forest buffer zones on the north and south sides. It is one of the few remaining examples of a diverse ecosystem and productive Terai, supporting a number of endangered species; species require large meadows and species of restricted distribution.

Morning shared activity included in your stay- Safari to Dudhwa National Park
Wake up early for an exciting day. Your naturalist will meet you as you embark on your first jungle safari in the Terai region. Dudhwa National Park lies amid the warm, subtropical forests and provides a fascinating blend of wildlife and flora. Start your drive at dawn to catch the first rays of the sun to enter the national park.

Much of the thrill of any safari experience comes from the sheer unpredictability of the jungle. This is an adventure like never before! The park’s thick Sal forest, extensive grasslands and wet marshes, harbour a wide range of wildlife, but it’s what you may encounter on your wild sojourn that will keep you on the edge of your seats. Although elusive, sightings of the Royal Bengal tiger, leopard, the Swamp Deer and Fishing Cat is not entirely uncommon. Explore the thick grasslands in search of the regal one-horned Rhinoceros. First re-introduced in the park, under the Rhinoceros conservation programme, in exchange of elephants from Nepal.

Later continue your search at the many water holes in the marshlands, from watchtowers. Rich in aquatic life, they are also critical breeding grounds for the Indian otters in the wild.

Dudhwa’s birds in particular, are a delight for any avid birdwatcher. Our expert naturalist will help you spot these magnificent birds while talking to you about their behaviour and ecology. Great hornbills, grey-headed fish eagles, spot-bellied eagle owls, greater slaty woodpecker, barbets and many more make their dramatic entry, as you traverse these woodlands. The presence of some rare species like the Bengal florican will leave you intoxicated with the contagious passion of your guide, as you fret and search for them. End your trip taking a moment to reflect on the highlights of your safari, before returning to the Jaagir Lodge via the iconic Sathiana range, the largest grassland in the area.

Day 09 Dudhwa
Full day free for own activity.

Explore the sprawling farmlands on cycles or enjoy some of the fascinating walking trails into Sathaniaghat Forest or trail blaze along the water creeks hidden in the sugarcane fields spotting some unusual birds of the terai.

Optional Activities: Full-day safari to Katarniaghat Wildlife Sanctuary
You have the flexibility to enjoy a full-day optional safari to the Katarniaghat Wildlife Sanctuary. Located at a distance of 110 kilometers southwest of your lodge, is a little-known paradise encompassing 400 square kilometers of grassland, swamps and wetlands. The Katarniaghat Forest provides a link between the tiger habitats of Dudhwa and Kishanpur in India and the Bardia National Park in Nepal. Enjoy a boat ride on the River Girwa, one of the best places in the world for sighting the Gharials. Spot Gangetic dolphins, fresh water turtles, Indian elephants, albino spotted deer, Burmese pythons, white-backed vultures and others.

Relax on the banks of the river, before you head out for another thrilling opportunity to come close to the rarest of Indian wildlife, aboard a 4X4 safari vehicle. Jaipur the vibrant capital of Rajasthan is popularly known as the ‘ Pink City ‘ because of the pink-coloured buildings in its old city. It sits on a dry lake bed in a somewhat arid landscape, surrounded by barren hills surmounted by forts and crenellated walls.

Amber Fort – Amber is located at a distance of 11 kilometers from Jaipur and was the old fort of the Kachhwaha clan of Amber, which used to be the capital, till it was moved to Jaipur. The construction of the Amber Fort began in the year 1592 and was started by Man Singh I, but it was finished by his descendant Jai Singh.

City palace The City Palace was built by Maharaja Jai Singh II of the Kachhwaha clan of Rajputs, but a lot of changes and additions were made to the original structure by his successors. The architecture of the City Palace is a synthesis of Rajasthani and Mughal styles.

Jantar Mantar The Jaipur observatory was built in 1728. There is actually a fascinating story in relation to the construction of the Observatory. According to the story, Sawai Jai Singh II sent his envoys to various parts of the world. The observatory has the Jaiprakash Yantra, Samrat Yantra, Ram Yantra and the Composite instrument, which comprises of a sundial and a massive hemisphere.

Hawa Mahal The palace is shaped like a pyramid and is a five-storied building, with number of small windows and screens, with arched roofs. As one looks at this building, one realizes that the rear side of the building is comparatively very plain and lacks much of ornamentation.

Day 04 Jaipur – Fatehpur Sikri – Agra (By Surface) (237 Kms & 05 hr approx)

Fatehpur Sikri – Built in red sandstone, the historic city of Fatehpur Sikri conceptualized by Akbar the Great, is one of the brilliant examples of architectural creations. One of the favorite tourist attractions in India, Fatehpur Sikri was completed in 1578, and built in honor of the Sufi Saint, Sheikh Salim Chishti by offering prayers to whom Akbar could fulfill his desire of a male. Strongly speaking of the religious tolerance of Akbar, the architecture of Fatehpur Sikri depicts a healthy blend of Hindu and Islamic styles of architecture.

Diwan-I-Am: Diwan-I-Am or the Hall Of Public Audience was used for the public meetings, as was the practice in Mughal empires. All the celebrations and public prayers were conducted here.

Diwan-Khana: This enclosure that is Hall of Private Audience was used for private and special meetings. It was beautifully designed.

Salim Chisti’s Tomb: Fatehpur Sikri in India Tomb of religious leader Sheikh Salim Chisti is surrounded by marbles, geometric work screens and the canopy above is inlaid with mother-of-Pearl. This holy place is worshiped by both Hindus and Muslims. The architectural wonder of Mughal era is a must visit tourist point in Fatehpur Sikri.

Agra -Historians suggest Agra to be the Agravana in the epic Mahabharata. It is expected to be known as Agralapura during the medieval age. An archaeological fact pushes the existence of Agra back to three million years. The Lodi dynasty ruled over Agra for a long time. It was in the onset of the sixteenth century that the Mughals took over the ruling of Agra from the hands of Lodi’s.

Taj Mahal Shah Jahan the great emperor and a great builder constructed Taj Mahal in the loving memory of his beloved wife Anjuman Bano Begum. Shah Jahan met this beautiful girl in his young age and later gets married with her. Taj Mahal completed in 1653 A.D. finished in by white marble, it is perhaps India most fascinating and beautiful monument. Not only is it recognized in just India but also all over the world. These perfectly symmetrical monuments took 22 years (1630-1652) of hard labor and 20,000 workers.

Red Fort – The construction of the Agra fort was started around 1565 when the initial structures were built by Akbar. Shah Jahan replaced most of these with his marble creations. Some however survived, among them are – Delhi Gate, Amar Singh Gate, Akbari Mahal and the Jehangir Mahal. The fort is crescent shaped, flattened on the east with a long, nearly straight wall facing the river.

Itimad Ud Daulah tomb- The first example of a tomb built on a riverbank in India, the Itimad Ud Daulah tomb houses the body of Mirza Ghiyas Beg, the father Mughal Empress Noor Jahan who again was Emperor Jahangir’s wife. This beautiful tomb situated on the banks of the Yamuna is also known as the ‘baby Taj’. Built around 1625 AD.

The Dudhwa National Park is in the Terai region of Uttar Pradesh, India, and covers an area of 490.3 km2 (189.3 sq mi), with a buffer zone of 190 km2 (73 square miles). It is part of Dudhwa Tiger Reserve. It is located on the Indo-Nepal border in Lakhimpur Kheri district, and reserved forest buffer zones on the north and south sides. It is one of the few remaining examples of a diverse ecosystem and productive Terai, supporting a number of endangered species; species require large meadows and species of restricted distribution.

Wake up early for an exciting day. Your naturalist will meet you as you embark on your first jungle safari in the Terai region. Dudhwa National Park lies amid the warm, subtropical forests and provides a fascinating blend of wildlife and flora. Start your drive at dawn to catch the first rays of the sun to enter the national park.

Much of the thrill of any safari experience comes from the sheer unpredictability of the jungle. This is an adventure like never before! The park’s thick Sal forest, extensive grasslands and wet marshes, harbour a wide range of wildlife, but it’s what you may encounter on your wild sojourn that will keep you on the edge of your seats. Although elusive, sightings of the Royal Bengal tiger, leopard, the Swamp Deer and Fishing Cat is not entirely uncommon. Explore the thick grasslands in search of the regal one-horned Rhinoceros. First re-introduced in the park, under the Rhinoceros conservation programme, in exchange of elephants from Nepal.

Later continue your search at the many water holes in the marshlands, from watchtowers. Rich in aquatic life, they are also critical breeding grounds for the Indian otters in the wild.

The Katarniaghat Forest provides strategic connectivity between the tiger habitats of Dudhwa and Kishanpur in India and the Bardia National Park in Nepal. Enjoy a boat ride on the River Girwa, one of the best places in the world for sighting the Gharial. Found in their natural habitat they are sympatric with the mugger. Spot Gangetic dolphins, fresh water turtles, Indian elephants, albino spotted deer, Burmese rock python, white-backed vulture and others. Relax on the banks of the river, before you head out for another thrilling opportunity to come up-close with the rarest of Indian wildlife, aboard a 4X4 safari vehicle. Early morning, drive to Pilibhit Tiger Reserve, a journey of over two hours. Your expert naturalist will make your drive interesting, pointing out the many heritage buildings and their charming colonial past. On arriving at Pilibhit, briefly stop at the Sharda Sagar Dam to spot the vibrant avian species, including migratory and resident birds. The reserve is covered with sal, teak, banyan and mango trees and serves as the habitat to four species of deer, antelopes, tigers, Bengal florican, the great Indian hornbill and Terai grey langurs. During the game drives, learn about the old forest lodge, canals and bridges from the colonial era. Enjoy lunch at the rustic forest lodge, with some free time to stroll around and imbibe its colonial legacy. Later, return to the Jaagir Lodge for dinner and overnight.

For centuries the Tharu have lived closely with the jungle and their traditions reflect their intimate relationship with the natural world.

Though their main occupation is farming, the colourful tribal community is renowned for their folk roots in music and dance, expert craftsmanship and their impeccable hunting skills. The Tharu excel at the art of catching and training wild elephants and making the best mahouts. There will be no activity on your day of arrival as it is medically mandated that you relax and undergo minimal exertion to enable you to acclimatize to the rarefied oxygen levels at this high-altitude. Today brings a late start, leaving the morning free for you to enjoy a leisurely breakfast and walk around the camp site, taking in the sights and the peaceful milieu where each tent opens out on to alfalfa pastures. Enjoy the view of the willow trees as the wind gracefully brushes the branches and the rustling sound of the poplar trees create an aura of unmatched beauty and serenity, making you unwind and relax.

This afternoon following lunch, you will visit the Leh City.

We then proceed on a gentle orientation tour of Leh. Our Leh City Heritage Walk ushers you to the labyrinth of by-lanes of Leh City under the gaze of the imposing 17th century nine storied Leh City Palace.

Our walk takes you through this last big frontier town where everything from daily needed rations, locally spun woolen clothing, rugs, yak fur and yak tail and ritualistic items can be sourced. The city boulevard presents a cauldron of shops which sell Pashmina shawls, stoles to Tibetan handicraft items. A few scattered curio shops also offer Tibetan silver jewelry and traditional Ladakhi jewelry set with turquoise, jade and emerald.

Your walk concludes near Chubi village where your vehicle will pick you up and take you to Shanti Stupa, perched upon a great vantage point over Leh, with spectacular views of this mesmerizing stone strewn landscape.

Bird Watching: If you are an early riser, may we suggest setting out on our optional bird watching session, with the naturalist, spotting and identifying a variety of birds indigenous of the trans-Himalayan region.

Séance with the Oracle: Drive to the Choglamsar village for a séance session with the village Oracle. [Note: This optional excursion will be confirmed a day prior subject to the oracle willing to give an audience].

Day 04 Thiksey – Hemis Monastry – Thiksey (23 Kms / 45 Min – One Way)
An early morning start with tea and coffee followed by a visit to the Thiksey monastery, which stands about a kilometer from your camp. This beautiful monastery houses a two storey statue of the Maitreya Buddha seated on a lotus and boasts of a spectacular view of the Leh valley. At the monastery, you will have the privilege to participate in the Buddhist morning prayer ceremony at sunrise.

Continue on a guided tour of the monastery, visiting the beautiful prayer room which has many handwritten and painted books as well as the temple dedicated to goddess Tara with her 21 images placed in glass-covered wooden shelves. You will also see small shrines devoted to the guardian divinities including Cham-Sing, the protector deity of Thiksey.

After a leisurely breakfast at camp, proceed to explore the jewel in the crown of the Drukpa lineage, the Hemis Monastery, the biggest monastic institution of Ladakh, situated about 23 kilometers (45 mins) from Thiksey. Built in a secluded valley, the monastery belongs to the Drukpa School or the Dragon Order of Tibetan Buddhism. Explore the many interesting facets of this institution, established under the patronage of King Senge Namygal in the 17th century, where young lamas are taught literature, history, philosophy, yoga and tantra. The monastery halls are adorned with beautiful statues and mural paintings.

The rest of the evening is at leisure, allowing you time to soak in serenity of your beautiful camp location.

Ride with the Wind – Wari La: After an early morning breakfast you will be driven to one of the most scenic passes in Ladakh – the Wari La (5,300 mtrs /17,384 ft) – which is also the world’s fourth-highest motorable road. This pass connects the two most exotic and most travelled valleys in this trans-Himalayan region. You get a breathtaking view of the Nubra valley, which lies beyond the pass, as well as the many villages dotting the Indus valley.

A hot lunch in the outdoors here is truly magical.
After a short safety briefing after lunch, you will then cycle down the best track that the Ladakh Himalayas has to offer. The road criss-crosses its way down the mountain side into the green oasis of Shakti village, where we will end our cycling trip.

Day 05 Thiksey – Leh(20 Kms / 30 Min) / Leh – Delhi (By Flight) / Dep. Delhi
After Breakfast transfer to airport to catch flight to Delhi and own ward journey.

After breakfast, transfer to the airport to catch a flight to Leh. Arrival in Leh, meeting with assistance and transfer to the hotel in Thiksey. Soak in the serenity of the surroundings as you are accorded a traditional Ladakhi welcome. You will be then accompanied to your well-appointed Luxury Tent after your check-in formalities at the Reception Tent is completed.

There will be no activity on your day of arrival as it is medically mandated that you relax and undergo minimal exertion to enable you to acclimatize to the rarefied oxygen levels at this high-altitude. The Excursion Specialist at Chamba Camp, Thiksey will meet with you to discuss the itinerary suggested and help you plan your excursions and make changes if required, to suit your interests, choices and leisure.

You may take a stroll through the blessed hamlet of Thiksey and engage with the joyous local community and its pastoral lifestyle, immersing you to the scintillating peace and tranquility.

Day 03 Thiksey – Leh – Thiksey (By Surface) (20 Kms / 30 Min – One Way)
Today brings a late start, leaving the morning free for you to enjoy a leisurely breakfast and walk around the camp site, taking in the sights and the peaceful milieu where each tent opens out on to alfalfa pastures. Enjoy the view of the willow trees as the wind gracefully brushes the branches and the rustling sound of the poplar trees create an aura of unmatched beauty and serenity, making you unwind and relax.

Day 05 Thiksey – Nuba Valley – Diskit (By Surface) (256 Kms / 7 ½ Hrs appx)
After breakfast this morning, your exciting journey continues through some of the region’s most awe-inspiring and dramatic landscapes, passing through the Khardung La Pass (5570 mtrs / 18,381 ft.), considered to be the highest motorable road in the world. From the pass one gets to see the Nubra Valley and rich agricultural lands interspersed with poplar and willow trees, giving the landscape a lush green look. Following a packed lunch in the village of Khardung continue onwards driving past the famous sand dunes of Nubra, arrive at the village of Diskit.

Your arrival at Camp, Diskit comes as a delightful oasis after your adventurous drive. Our camp here is inspired by the aesthetics of safari camping and equipped with every modern comfort to pamper your senses. Rest yourself on your own private deck and breathe in the tranquility of the serene water body reflecting the high mountains and cloudless blue skies. Be at leisure as the wind whispers fables of the famed Silk Route and the mighty mountains boast of stories untold. Loose yourselves to the peaceful pleasures of solitude.

Overnight in Camp

Day 06 Diksit – Sumur – Diskit (By Surfae) (35 kms / 1 Hrs – One Way)
After a sumptuous breakfast, we drive to the picturesque village of Sumur located across the Shyok and Nubra Rivers.

You can also supplement this with a rafting on the shimmering Shyok River.

You can also opt to drive towards the most northern road on the Saichen Glacier route and then hike towards the hidden lake – Yarab Tso – which is one of the high altitude and sacred lakes in the Nubra Valley. It holds crystal clear holy water, secluded within a rocky terrain.

We then whisk you to experience local life and be privy to the special initiative by the Women’s Alliance of Nubra. These hard working women have collaborated to come together in activities like handicrafts, documentation of natural and oral history along with traditional performing arts.

A lovely drive through the farmlands of Sumur brings you to a traditional local farm which promises you delectable promises of a sumptuous homely lunch.

Visit the house of the Kalon family which allows you a glimpse into their rich historicity of this region.

This evening, we usher you for an adventurous ride on the double hump Bactrian camel on the sand dunes of the Hunder cold desert. Relive the dreams and glories of the merchants, mercenaries and monks as they trudged these very sands in search of Gold, Glory and God in the days of yore.

Optional:-
Shyok River Rafting: The mighty Shyok flows down in all her glory from the famed Rimo Glaciers in the Karakoram Range to meet the blessed land of abundance in the wide Nubra Valley. Come be a part of this magic as you paddle down the thrilling whirls of the river’s rapids.

Day 07 Diskit / Trutuk
Soak in the solitude and serenity of our camp location amidst the whispering winds of the sand dune of Diskit and hear of lost stories of the bygone Great Game played out in this frontier wilderness.

Optional :-
Turtuk: Following an early morning breakfast, embark on an adventurous journey driving through spectacular landscape into the realms of the Balti dynasty, to the quaint village of Turtuk. Enjoy exploring this frontier hamlet admiring the traditional houses, called “nangchung’’, unique traditional kitchen implements and savour the delicious apricots grown in the region.

Following a packed lunch, return to the homely comforts of your luxurious tent in Diskit.

Day 08 Diskit – Leh – Thiksey (By Surface)  (115 Kms / 5 Hrs – One Way)
After an early morning wake up call, we drive you up towards the Diskit Gompa. Perched on a hill in the village of Diskit and considered to be the oldest and largest Buddhist monastery in the Nubra Valley, it belongs to the Gelugpa (Yellow Hat) sect of Tibetan Buddhism.

It is a sub-gompa of the Thiksey monastery and has a statue of the Cho Rinpoche “the crowned Buddha” in the prayer hall, a huge drum and several images of fierce guardian deities. An elevated cupola of the monastery depicts a fresco of the Tashilhunpo monastery of Tibet.

Start the day with a special prayer high up near the towering Maitreya Buddha.

Return to the camp for a hearty breakfast and after breakfast get ready for your journey back to Leh Valley through picturesque landscape traversing through Wari – La (5,300 mtrs / 17,384 ft) the fourth highest motor able pass in Ladakh. En route, enjoy seeing the shepherds graze their pashmina goats, stop for photograph of the scattered villages. Not to be missed is spotting the famous yaks grazing in the meadows along the streams.

NOTE: If Wari-La is closed due to any local conditions, then the drive will be back through Khardung-La.

On arrival into the Leh Valley, check into the Chamba Camp, Thiksey.

Rest of the evening is at leisure to relax and unwind in the luxurious environs of your camp.

Day 04 Thiksey – Alchi – Thiksey (By Surface) (80 Kms / 2 Hrs – One Way)
After a sumptuous breakfast, embark on a spiritual exploration of the monastic treasure of Ladakh.Driving through picturesque landscape along the River Indus, arrive at the fabled Alchi Monastery, built in the 11th century. Founded by Ringchen Zangpo, the Great Translator, the Alchi Gompa displays a Kashmiri influence in its art and architecture. Within the monastery you will see beautiful Tibetan and Gandhara style murals of Ladakh, frescos and images of the Buddha.

Relish a delectable packed lunch in a picturesque setting before you drive back to your residence – Chamba Camp, Thiksey.

On your way back from Alchi, you will drive past the Basgo fort, built in the 16th century. Basgo, literally “Cow’s Head” in the local language, was the center of power and politics in this region at one point of time.

Alternatively, combine your visit to Alchi with our optional rafting excursion. The day begins with a drive through the pastoral countryside, arriving at the put-in point. Take a gentle rafting trip down the Indus River, floating past traditional Ladakhi villages, enjoying the mesmerizing views, and the contrast between the greenery of the Nimmuvillage on one bank and the stark barren landscape of the other. Relish a hot lunch in a picturesque setting. Following lunch continue to the fabled Alchi Monastery.

Day 06 Thiksey – Pangong lake/ Stok / Tso Kar
The day is at leisure.
Or, you may choose to embark on an Excursion to Pangong Lake. Take in the breath-taking views and setting of the blue lake set amidst the lofty Himalaya Mountains. A popular location for many Bollywood movies, enjoy some unique moments.

Following a lunch return to the comfort of your camp in Thiksey.

Alternatively, you may choose to visit the village of Stok. For this excursion you will drive 19 kilometers (40 mins) to visit the Stok Palace, across the River Indus. Take a walk through the Palace, a beautiful medieval fortress, serving as the residence of the Queen Mother and Prince of Ladakh. A section of this Palace has been converted into a museum which houses some of the most interesting and priceless collections of the Royal family. Admire some of the exquisite royal perak (headgear) embedded with priceless coral and turquoise. The museum also exhibits Royal costumes, coins, photographs and paintings. Continue onwards to the Stok village. Explore the rustic beauty of the village as you walk down the narrow lanes, catching a glimpse of local village life, culminating at a quaint Ladakhi house, where you can enjoy traditional hospitality.

Or, take a day trip to the mesmerizing Tso Kar – The White Lake, which lies beyond the dizzying heights of Tanglang La Pass (5,328 mtrs/ 17,582 ft) – the world’s second highest motorable pass- also makes for an unforgettable experience .A twin lake separated by a freshwater stream makes it an ancient nesting ground for a lot of birdlife.

You can also hope for a chance meeting with the famed “Chang Pas” or the nomads of the trans –Himalayas who dwell a nomadic life primarily as animal herders and follow an annual migration route in these desolate yet compelling high altitude desert in search of fresh pastures for their livestock comprising of the Pashmina goats popular for the luxurious ‘Cashmere Wool’ and Yaks in the Rusphu valley.
