On arrival you will be met and transferred to your hotel for the evening. The remainder of the day is at leisure.

Puerto Ordaz is a small new town and port of Ciudad Guayana on the banks of the Caroni River. It is famed for it’s Cerro Bolivar open-cast iron mine and the town is reputed to be the richest place per square kilometre in Venezuela.
Overnight at Hotel.

Day 02: Puerto Ordaz – Delta del Orinoco
After breakfast, transfer to Boca de Uracoa and continue by boat to your lodge in the Orinoco River Delta. The second largest in the American continent after the Amazonian delta, it is a labyrinth of caños (canals) that form impenetrable green islands which makes the jungle seem to expand and swallow the course of the river. In the midst of these canals, small paddled canoes from the local communities are seen travelling from one village to the next. The Warao inhabit the shores of the canals in typical wooden and thatched houses built in stitches over the water, often with no walls and hammocks for beds. Their houses are on stilts due to the significant rise and fall of water levels in the Delta. The Warao are the second largest tribe in Venezuela with their own indigenous language. Overnight in Lodge.

Day 03: Orinoco Delta
Enjoy a full day of activities in the delta. Navigate by speedboat to the remote reaches and most primitive areas of the delta as you visit the Warao communities and walk through the jungle to discover the local flora and fauna.

Your guide will lead the way on your jungle walk. The silence of the jungle is occasionally interrupted by the strange cries of exotic birds while the pungent smells blend into the blanket of humidity. There are dense galleries of crawling plants and giant trees competing for rations of scarce sun light under the lush jungle canopy. Explore some of the narrowest caños – enjoy being lost in a maze of waterways and jungle.

Want to go fishing? The Delta that is perfect for fishing. If you are interested, you will be given poles, bait your hooks with raw meat and fish for the infamous Piranhas. If you are successful you can bring your catch back to the lodge where our chef will prepare them into a delicious snack. Overnight in Lodge.

Located in Canaima National Park, it is home to some of the oldest formations on the earth, including tepuis’ (table mountains with flat tops). Eleven miles from the coast, midway between Venezuela’s eastern and western borders, lies the capital, Caracas: a captivating and modern city, whose hectic life-style also offers space and time for relaxation. Caracas is located in a ten mile long valley, three thousand feet high, cradled by mountains up to 9,000 feet. Venezuela has many facets, a bit of everything for everyone all year round and Caracas is but the introduction to Venezuela’s many attractions.

Located southeast of Auyan tepui, Kavac is an Indian settlement of the Pemon group. From Kavac you will be lead on foot by a Native Pemon Indian across the rolling savannah. As you approach the Kavac gorge the vegetation changes abruptly into dense jungle, the hiding place of ocelots, anteaters, macaws, parrots, and toucans. You may enjoy the Kavac River and its many swimming holes formed in the cavities of reddish shining rocks.

This amazing gorge was carved out by the waterfalls on the slopes of the flat-topped mountains over centuries. The rocks of the flat-topped mountains are between 1,800 and 3,600 million years old, which are considered the planet’s oldest. Directly ahead are Auyan-tepui towers close to 3,000-m. After passing idyllic waterfalls you know you are very close when arriving to an immense wall that uninterruptedly drips crystal water drops from the tips of the wall’s ferns. The entrance is separated by a small lagoon that you must swim across. Return to the plane for a fly-over tour of the Angel Falls before returning to your lodge.

The valley is close to the Caribbean Sea, separated from the coast by a steep mountain range (Cerro Ávila) that rises above 8,000ft (2600m); to the south lies further hills and mountains. The official metropolitan area has an estimated population of 3.3 million.

A guided walk will take you through part of the old city downtown, where there are a number of historical locations evoking what Caracas looked like during the 18th and 19th centuries.
