Day 01: Arrival Zambia – Travel To South Luangwa National Park | Thrilling Game Drive
Arrive Zaambia meet and assist t the airport and drive to South Luangwa National Park. You will have lunch at the hotel. After lunch, you will go on a thrilling game drive. The park has a high density of wildlife and it is famous for its large population of leopards. You will enjoy dinner.

Day 02: South Luangwa National Park
You will have a morning river safari on the Zambezi River. During this trip we might see hippos, elephants, crocodiles, lions, and many other animals that live in the park. After the walking safari with an armed guide, you will go back to your hotel to relax. In the evening, you will head out for a game drive in South Luangwa National Park. You will enjoy dinner.

Day 03:South Luangwa National Park – Lusaka
After breakfast, we head out for a morning game drive in South Luangwa National Park. The park is home to numerous large lion prides. You will also find elephant, buffalo, zebra, and puku in abundance here. After the game drive, you will be transferred from Mfuwe to Lusaka for a flight. Arrive lusaka meet and assist and transfer to Hotel.

Day 04: Lusaka – Lower Zambezi
After breakfast we depart from Lusaka heading to Lower Zambezi. The drive should take about 3 to 4 hours. On arrival we will have a short break, then go on a river safari on the mighty Zambezi River. We will enjoy a sunset cruise to end the day. You will enjoy dinner.

Day 05:Lower Zambezi – Livingstone
After breakfast we depart for Livingstone. We will have a stopover in Siavonga, a town that lies on Lake Kariba, the biggest man-made lake in the world. We will also have a tour of the Choma Museum, which houses the history of the Tonga speaking people of Zambia. You will enjoy dinner.

Day 06: Livingstone
After breakfast at around 8 am, you will be picked up for a helicopter flight over Victoria Falls (20 minutes’ drive one way). Times are flexible, you have the option to choose the time to do an activity. After the scenic flight over Victoria Falls at around 10 am, you will go on a tour of the Victoria Falls on the Zambian side. During the tour, the guide will give you all the necessary information on Victoria Falls, Zambezi River as well as the flora and fauna of the area.

After lunch, you will head out for a game drive and a rhino walk in the Mosi Oa Tunya National Park which is located in Livingstone. It is home to various different wildlife such as giraffes, zebras, hippos, antelopes, cape buffaloes and many more. The rhino walk allows us to get closer to the white rhinos found in the park. You will enjoy dinner.

Day 07:Livingstone – Mukwalantila Village – Livingstone
After breakfast, you will go swimming in the Devils Pool. After seeing the Victoria falls from an aerial view as well as head-on, it would only be right to become part of the Victoria Falls by swimming in the Devils Pool. This natural pool formed right on the edge of the falls, allowing you to live life on the edge. After the swim, you visit Mukwalantila village. This village is about 85 kilometers north of Livingstone. This cultural tour is meant to be a half-day or full-day insight into a typical Tonga village. A site is earmarked for our campsite for those tourists who would wish to spend a night in a Zambian Village.

This tour is meant to showcase the lifestyle of the Tonga people of the southern province who may be found ploughing, harvesting, or gardening, depending on the season. You will enjoy dinner.

Day 08:Livingstone
After breakfast, you will go water rafting on the Zambezi River. Test your courage by taking on the magnificent rapids, from rapid 1 to rapid 22 with some rapids rated Grade V. After a long day navigating the Zambezi rapids, we will take time to relax on a sunset cruise on the upper Zambezi with some drinks and snacks and enjoy the beautiful picture that nature will paint as the sun sets. You will enjoy dinner.

Day 09: Livingstone – Victoria Fall Departure
After breakfast departure transfer to the Airport to catch the flight for onward journey.

Day 01: Arrive Lusaka – South Luangwa National Park
Arrive at Lusaka International Airport meet and assist and transfer to hotel. Set inside the South Luangwa National Park and overlooking a lagoon, this charming lodge is the ideal place to acclimatise to Zambia. Spread out under large shady trees, the camp has several viewing decks, a lounge and pool area where you can relax and soak up the views of the Luangwa River.

Zambia’s flagship park is home to a rich variety of wildlife ranging from herds of elephant and buffalo to the near-endemic Thornicroft’s giraffe and Crawshay’s zebra. Hippo huff in the deep pools and crocodile bask on the riverbanks, lion and leopard stalk the woodlands, and the birdlife is abundant – this is destination tailor-made for keen photographers and wildlife enthusiasts.

As you relax on the terrace overlooking the murmuring waters, the cares and concerns of your daily life simply drift away, overtaken by scents and sounds of the wilderness, and a growing excitement for the adventure ahead of you. After a refreshing high tea you set out on an afternoon game drive, your first expedition.

Returning at dusk to a roaring campfire, your first night in Africa is spent in the warm hospitality of Mfuwe’s superb staff.

Day 02 – 03: A Luangwa lagoon
Freshly brewed coffee is delivered to your suite in the early light of day as the wilderness around you comes to life. After a light breakfast, you set out on a game drive to explore the park. The sense of vitality is palpable in the crisp morning air. Dew sparkles on the grass and grazing antelope are active, ears twitching as they scan for danger. Elephants gather at the water’s edge to drink, giving you a glimpse into their intricate family dynamics. Teenagers jostle and shove each other until their rudeness is quelled by a sharp trumpet blast from an elder female. Toddlers – tiny calves not yet in full control of their trunks – do comical impersonations of their mothers drinking, splashing and generally being in everyone else’s way. Before you have seen your fill of these gentle giants some silent signal turns them from the water to melt quietly back into the forest.

When the temperature begins to rise, you return to Mfuwe for brunch – a feast to fortify you for the game drive to Chindeni Camp, which is raised on stilts to give you views through a grove of ebony trees to a hippo-filled lagoon. Rated as one of Luangwa’s most beautiful tented camps, Chindeni’s four opulent suites are positioned to make the most of game coming down to drink year-round. With vistas over the water and distant purple hills, you may find it hard to resist the comfort of the hammock on your private terrace but there is much to discover in this new slice of paradise.

Join your guide and an armed scout for a nature walk in the cool morning air, revelling in the sense of being a part of nature rather than an aloof observer as you follow antelope trails and elephant paths, engaging all your senses. Breathe in new scents, discern the voices in the symphony of wild sounds, and feel the breeze on your skin. Your guide points out scuff marks on the ground, paw prints and bent leaves – signs that tell a story to the trained eye.

Share your day’s adventure over a refreshing cocktail back at Chindeni, before sitting down to a sumptuous dinner beneath a canopy of stars. Conversation and laughter carry on into the night, until you slip away to slide between cool cotton sheets and be serenaded by the distant call of lions as you drift off to sleep.

Day 04 – 05: A Luangwa Adventure
The magic of this journey continues as you travel to Bilimungwe Lodge or ‘Bili’ as it is affectionately known. Its lounge nestles in the cool shade of an enormous mahogany tree overlooking the three permanent waterholes nearby. Your elevated suite has a front-row seat to all the action at the waterholes, providing comfortable game viewing from your private verandah – elephant, kudu, impala and giraffe are regular visitors quenching their thirst.

Your guide looks out for unusual species you may not have encountered yet, as well as big cats and wild dogs. The paths leading to Bili provide your guide with a wealth of information: every animal that passes to and from the water leaves a sign of its passage: here the crescent hoof-marks of a solitary buffalo bull, there the tracks of a leopard and her cub. Gradually you work your way away from camp, each twist of the road throwing up a new surprise, until the sun dips low on the horizon and its time for sundowners and snacks.

You return to camp with your guide deftly wielding a spotlight, searching for Africa’s rare nocturnal creatures.

Day 06 – 07: The Beauty of Zungulila
Your final destination on this safari is the delightfully intimate Zungulila Bush Camp on the Kapamba River. Once again, game drives and guided nature walks take full advantage of the area’s varied habitats and consistently deliver superb wildlife sightings. Your guide uses their honed instincts and years of experience to read tracks and listen for warning calls that tell them the movement and proximity of predators and their prey. Zambia is big cat country and no cat is more illusive or eagerly sought after than the leopard. South Luangwa is one of the best places in Africa to see this beautiful creature. Spot lit night drives add to the drama, and with two nights here, Zungulila is sure to deliver an unbeatable game viewing experience.

Day 08: Depart Zambia
Enjoy a leisurely breakfast before bidding Zungulila a fond farewell and settling in for the drive back to Lusaka and your onward Journey.

Day 01: Livingstone to Mfuwe & South Luangwa National Park                          L-D
You start your 7 Day South Luangwa Tented Camping Safari by catching a domestic flight from Livingstone to Mfuwe, bringing you to the doorstep of South Luangwa National Park. You will be collected at Mfuwe airport by your guide who will transport you to your accommodation – the tented camp close to the Mfuwe main gate of the national park.

You will have some time to rest after your arrival at this classic tented camp. Lunch will be served in the a la cart restaurant, and then you will have some more time to enjoy the atmosphere of our camp in the African bush. At teatime, around 3:30 pm, you will meet your guides and have the opportunity to discuss your special interests. Then, it is time for your first exciting game drive in South Luangwa National Park, the top wildlife destination in Zambia.

We leave at around 4:00 pm, setting off in an open 4×4 Land Cruiser that has been custom-built for this environment. The open sides ensure unobstructed views of the veld. Your highly qualified guides will provide excellent service and will share their expert knowledge of the African bush and its inhabitants. Signs of wildlife activity like tracks and scats will be pointed out as you are guided to exciting sightings of the animals and birds of this famous, yet remote national park.

By sunset, we stop at a scenic spot to enjoy the changing colours of the African sky, while drinks are served. Now our game viewing adventure gets an added dimension as the guides use a spotlight to find rarely seen nocturnal animals and birds, as varied as beasts of prey like the lion and leopard, but also smaller creatures like civet and porcupines.

Back at our accommodation, a campfire awaits where we can relax after enjoying our dinner.

Day 02 – 06: Mfuwe & South Luangwa National Park       B-L-D
From day two to six we explore South Luangwa National Park in depth, making the most of our opportunities to not only drive through the bush in an open vehicle but also experience the wilderness on foot in the company of expert guides.

Your days begin with a light breakfast at about 5:30 am, consisting of coffee or tea, toast and cereal. Without wasting any time, we board the open 4×4 at 6:00 am to make the most of the early morning which is an excellent time for spotting an abundance of animals at South Luangwa National Park. The meandering Luangwa River is a good place to spot large numbers of hippo and elephants, and you are sure to see many animals coming to drink at the edge of the water. These may include rare Thornicroft’s giraffes and also the Crawshay’s zebra that is endemic to this region. Bird lovers will be in heaven, as there are more than 400 species in South Luangwa National Park. The riverine forest includes trees like mahogany and ebony, and you will also see examples of the giants of the tree world – the baobab. Throughout your explorations, your guide will be opening up the wonders of this unspoilt environment by sharing detailed information about the flora and fauna of the Luangwa Valley ecosystem.

By 10:00 when we return from our early morning game drive, brunch will be waiting for us at our tented camp. Now you can choose between both breakfast and lunch dishes. Late morning is time to relax, either by the pool or in your comfortable tented room.

Later in the afternoon, we return to the game park for a sunset game drive that includes sundowners surrounded by the bush. Afterwards, the spotlight will guide our drive as we look for, amongst other things, leopard and hyena that prefer to roam the bush at night. Nocturnal birds such as owls may also cross our way. By 20:00 we are usually back at the camp where dinner is served. After dinner, you can make the most of the clear dark skies to star gaze, or you can simply relax and share stories around the campfire.

Apart from game drives, other activities are available as well. In the dry season (usually from June to October) walking safaris (usually taking three to four hours) are very popular. In fact, South Luangwa is thought of as the birthplace of the typical African walking safari! If you want, you can also combine a walking tour with a game drive, doing two hours of each. A walking tour will give you the opportunity to get really close to nature, seeing, apart from the more than 60 species of animals, amazing birds, plants, and insects.

Cultural tours to local Mfuwe village are available. On these tours, you can learn more about the community and their conservation initiatives. We specifically visit the Luangwa Conservation & Community Fund (LCCF), which is also an anti-poaching centre. At a local school, you can learn about the support work done in the area.

Day 07: Mfuwe to Livingstone – Zambia      B
On your last morning of this South Luangwa Tented Camping Safari, you have breakfast at the tented camp, after which it is time to say goodbye. You are then taken back to Mfuwe airport for your return flight to Livingstone at Victoria Falls in Zambia.
