Ayeyarwady

KAYAH
Despite being the smallest state in Myanmar, Kayah is mighty in size when it comes to diversity and amazing travel experience. Closed from visitors for nearly 50 years, the state’s reopening has allowed it to flourish as a hidden gem of Myanmar that shines with authenticity. Kayah is home to nine different ethnic groups, giving ample opportunities for tourists to discover the cultures and heritages. The most distinctive tribes are Kayah and Kayan. The Kayah people are known to dress in bright and red-coloured attire while the Kayans are easily recognized from the brass rings they wear on their neck. KAYIN
Kayin State provides the variety of a mountainous terrain amidst the beaches and seas of Southern Myanmar. The state is encircled by karst limestone peaks that soar above the lush green paddy fields. Interspersed with incredible caves, Kayin offers a stunning view of the western mountainous area of Myanmar. Hpa-An is the capital city of Kayin state. The city itself is beautiful, surrounded with limestone peaks on all sides. A typical Kayin landscape is characterized by lush green farms which make way to lush green mountains. Kayin is famous for its tea and coffee production. Tourists have a lot to explore in Kayin State including Mt. Zwekabin, Lumbini Garden, Thandaung, Sadan Cave and other things. BAGO
Bago is a region in Myanmar located close to Yangon region. Bago City, formerly known as Hanthawaddy is the capital of Bago region. it is located 80 kilometres north-east of Yangon. It is a popular trip destination for tourists visiting Yangon due to proximity. Bago offers a perfect milieu of nature and culture to tourists. It is renowned for handicrafts as well as a vast wildlife sanctuary. Tourists can enjoy a wide range of experiences in Bago ranging from visiting an elephant camp to experiencing the urban life of Bago City.

YANGON
Yangon is a region of importance nestled on the south-central part of Myanmar. Yangon is the capital of the Yangon region and the erstwhile capital of Myanmar. It is also the current commercial capital of the country as well as Yangon’s largest city. The city houses a large number of colonial-era buildings in Southeast Asia and has a unique colonial-era urban core that has been maintained over the years. The area around the Sule Pagoda is more than 2000 years old and is the commercial core of the city. Yangon is a vibrant city in flux and undergoing modernisation and also one of the most attractive cities in southeast Asia. Yangon is home to the nation’s most beloved landmark, the glorious Shwedagon Pagoda. The city was founded by King Alaungpaya of the Kone Baung Dynasty when he took the village of Dagon in 1755. He named the settlement Yangon which means ‘end of strife”. It has a unique charm with tree-lined streets, serene parks and tranquil lakes combined with the hustle and bustle of street vendors and thriving markets. Recent years have seen the modernisation of the urban landscape but Yangon still boasts the highest concentration of colonial heritage in the region.

MON
Mon is a state in Myanmar which covers a narrow strip of land located between Kayin state to the east and the Andaman Sea to the west. The first recorded kingdom of Mon is attributed to Dvaravati which prospered around 1024 AD till their capital was sacked by the Khmer Empire. The region was conquered by the British in 1824 after the first Anglo-Burmese War. The Mon people helped the British in the war, in return for promises of their own leadership once Burma is defeated. Thousands of Mons had migrated to Siam earlier but returned to their homeland during the British rule. However, the promise was never fulfilled and Mon existed as a colony of the British. Mon has a tropical climate since it is located close to the sea. Currently, Mon has about 8 notable cities and two islands. It is home to the Mon people who are the ethnic group of the state. They are one of the earliest people to reside in Southeast Asia. They speak the earliest people to live in southeast Asia.

MYEIK
Myeik (also known as Mergui Archipelago) is a group of islands located in the Southern region of Myanmar on the Andaman Sea. It comprises more than 800 pristine islands of varying sizes. These untouched islands are renowned for their pristine white-sand beaches and diverse marine life. Myeik City, located in the far south of the region is a must see. Apart from being a gorgeous and remote island, Myeik also has a host of to an amazing colonial-era buildings, and boasts a 500-year long nautical history. The clear waters are also perfect for pearl cultivation. For a nature lover, Myeik is heaven on earth. The unparallel diversity of flora and fauna coupled with breathtaking underwater scenes and marine life make for an unforgettable holiday destination. DAWEI
Dawei is the capital of Tanintharyi Region, the southern part of Myanmar. It is a coastal region covering an area of over 4184 sq km. Historically, it has been an important trading port. It features some interesting colonial architecture, with many old wooden, thatch-roofed bungalows and some brick and stucco mansions. Dawei is dotted with islands and famous historical pagodas.

KAW THAUNG
Kawthaung, formerly known as Victoria Point, is the southernmost town in Myanmar. It is one of the entry ports into Myanmar and is separated from Thailand by the broad estuary of the Pakchan River. Kaw Thaung has a coastline extending for about 2800 kilometres and is characterised by estuaries, rivers, creeks and islands. The border town of Thailand, Ranong is located quite nearby, right across the river. The entire area is only 322 kilometres north of Phuket. Kawthaung retains the charming character of a prosperous fishing village. Kawthaung is surrounded by the Mergui National Reserve where one can enjoy snorkelling and diving expeditions. The key to enjoying in Kawthaung is to escape 100m back from the harbour where the town’s charming streets offer sanctuary from the hustle and bustle of the harbor. Tourists can get a 360-degree view of the region from the Ngar Thone Lone Hill.
