Beaches in Cayman Islands

EACH STRETCH FORMS A MEMORY
If you’ve seen one beach, you most certainly haven’t seen them all in Cayman, where every expanse is worth remembering for its own remarkable reasons.

CAYMAN KAI
SECLUDED BEACH AT CAYMAN KAI
Visitors travelling to the Caribbean from around the world have long sought after the kind of privacy of Cayman Kai. Cayman Kai’s seclusion on the northern tip of Grand Cayman is all one can ask for in island life. Accommodations on Cayman Kai offer stunning views of the sea, putting it among the most beautiful Caribbean beaches. Cayman Kai is wonderful for swimming and also plays host to several other water sports that you and your family can enjoy. Visitors also love the beauty of the lagoon and palm trees.

EAST END BEACH
DOWN THE WAY ON EAST END BEACH
East End Public Beach is tucked away on Grand Cayman and is ideal for a romantic afternoon or spectacular sunrise. Also known as Colliers Beach, this locale is the site of many events during the weekend, making it a great place to meet residents. The area is teeming with turtle grass and you can see baby fish swimming around, out of reach of predators. Stop at the local fish fry to grab Mahi Mahi or snapper and then head over to the seaside and enjoy it.

GOVERNOR’S BEACH
SNORKELLING NEXT TO THE GOVERNOR’S HOUSE
Governor’s Beach is a relaxing spot within Seven Mile Beach, located beside and in front of the Governor’s home. With families visiting in the morning and games played in the afternoon, this shore sees all the action. Governor’s Beach is excellent for snorkelling, a picturesque stroll or floating on the water with a cold drink. Beachgoers can enjoy the shade while snacking on the sea grapes that fall from the trees in June and July. And as with all views to the west here, you’ll witness the most memorable sunsets.

HERITAGE BEACH
HERITAGE BEACH IN EAST END
Heritage Beach in East End is a small Caribbean beach full of big events – with a stage and a boat ramp making it a fantastic venue for concerts, parties and more. You can also enjoy an amazing fish fry, just steps from the stage. The site has parking on the landward side of the road and picnic facilities on the seaside. The area is not suited for swimming as abundant turtle grass forms an ecosystem that’s important to diverse marine life. But the spectacular scenery of Frank Sound makes Heritage Beach an appealing lunch or dinner spot for your family vacation in the Caribbean.

Coming from George Town, Cayman’s famous Blow Holes are along the drive on the right-hand side, so keep an eye out for chutes of seawater from the iron shore below. Look for a set of stairs opposite a coconut stand, just after you pass a rock wall known as the Lovers Wall, and add a stop to your adventure.

RUM POINT
FAMILY FRIENDLY RUM POINT BEACH
Located on the picturesque north side of the island, “Rum Point” is famous for its island atmosphere, white sandy beach and shallow clear waters. It is an ideal spot for swimming and snorkelling. The beach hammocks, shady trees, picnic tables and delicious food beckon visitors and locals alike seven days a week.

Rum Point also offers changing rooms, showers, huts, hammocks, snorkelling and volleyball nets. About 45 minutes by car from most hotels and the cruise terminal, Rum Point is well worth the day trip. Another option for accessing Rum Point is by ferry! With affordable prices and killer views, this is a great way to get here and relax or enjoy a wonderful lunch or dinner.

SEVEN MILE BEACH
AWARD WINNING SEVEN MILE BEACH, GRAND CAYMAN
Named one of the Ultimate Beaches in the region by Caribbean Travel + Life, the 4th Best Beach in the Caribbean by Trip Advisor, and the 12th of the best beaches in the world by MSN, Seven Mile Beach is among the many reasons why Cayman is considered the ultimate destination. Situated on the western side of Grand Cayman, the area attracts travellers from all over the world. With sparkling waters and coral sands, this shoreline is home to many of the Caribbean’s most luxurious properties.

The expansive waterfront here is open to the public, making it possible to walk the full length of the shore regardless of where you’re staying. Taking a stroll, you’ll stumble on restaurants at the resorts and several beach bars. Seven Mile Beach encompasses so many different activities, too. Whether you want to work on your tan and watch the waves roll in, or partake in some parasailing, Seven Mile Beach gives you every chance to enjoy what Cayman is all about.

Seven Mile Beach is surrounded by several popular attractions as well. You can peruse the Seven Mile Shops or snorkel /scuba dive in the peaceful seas around Cemetery Reef. Cayman’s capital, George Town, is also close by.

SMITH BARCADERE
OFF THE SHIP AT SMITH BARCADERE
South of George Town near the ports, you can step off your Caribbean Cruise and right onto the beach. Also known as Smith Cove, Smith Barcadere in the South Sound of Grand Cayman is terrific for photos ops and phenomenal for snorkelling – all with the convenience of public restrooms, picnic benches and outdoor showers. Turquoise waters surround the white sand here, while limestone formations and coral protect this site. With unique drops-offs, guests can swim freely while still being close to the shore, which is great for children and beginners who are looking to learn the basics. Plus, you’ll encounter local art at the gift shops nearby to help you remember your Caribbean vacation.

SPOTTS BEACH
GRAB YOUR SPOT AT SPOTTS BEACH
Off Shamrock Road in the Spotts Newlands part of Grand Cayman is where you’ll happen upon Spotts Beach. Away from everyone else, Spotts Beach has homes and waterfront condos surrounded by iron-shore cliffs and white sand, while still providing plenty of space for a surfside walk. It’s a nice place to watch the sunrise since Spotts Beach faces to the south. There are cabanas along with some benches and tables available for barbecues or picnics. There is also great snorkelling due to the limited amount of watercraft.

WEST BAY BEACH
VIA THE VISTAS OF WEST BAY BEACH
At the north end of Seven Mile Beach on Grand Cayman, West Bay Beach is perfect for sun catching and people watching. Complete with restrooms and changing facilities, West Bay Beach is close to several eateries as well. With an easily accessible boat ramp, the pier at this location is where many sightseers and residents came to watch the sinking of the Ex-USS Kittiwake in 2011.

BRAC REEF BEACH
RARE SEA CREATURES AT BRAC REEF BEACH
Brac Reef Beach is located at the Cayman Brac Beach Reef Resort. This beautiful spot features an array of activities. Diving and snorkelling are the most popular, followed closely by fishing and kayaking. With a rare collection of sea creatures, this private locale calls to adventurers from near and far. Tables, boardwalks and cabanas with hammocks create the perfect place for rest and relaxation, while a seaside swing waits after a long day of diving, caving and exploring.

HEAD O’ BAY
SHALLOW LAGOONS AT HEAD O’ BAY
You’ll come across Head O’ Bay along the southern shore, near South Hole Sound in Little Cayman. Encompassed by shallow lagoons, divers have plenty to discover here, including the Jackson Walls and the marine life of Bloody Bay. With stunning panoramas, Head O’ Bay makes it easy to see why the Cayman Islands are so often thought to have the best beaches in the Caribbean.

LITTLE CAYMAN BEACH RESORT
FROM LITTLE CAYMAN BEACH RESORT
Little Cayman Beach Resort is on the south side of the island. With hammocks under cabanas setting the scene, you can be near the waves and out of the sun here. Enjoy wonderfully smooth sand for lounging around and glistening water at just the right temperature for a refreshing swim. Little Cayman Beach Resort beach is also close to fishing, kayaking and diving operations, and was voted Best Dive Resort in 2016 by the Caribbean Journal, and received the Hall of Fame Certificate by TripAdvisor in 2017. Go ahead and add some award winning escapades to your day.

OWEN ISLAND
OWEN ISLAND OFF LITTLE CAYMAN
For a real adventure and a true taste of Cayman water sports, head to Owen Island just off the southwest coast of Little Cayman. The only way to reach this islet is by sailing or kayaking across the island’s calm waters, so prepare for an exciting voyage. Once on Owen Island, you can enjoy a picnic or simply indulge in the tranquillity that surrounds you. The islet doesn’t have any permanent structures or residents, making it the ultimate respite. Enjoy the ambiance alone or with friends and still make it back to your resort in time for dinner.

POINT OF SAND
SECLUDED PARADISE AT POINT OF SAND
Beckoning beach bums to linger for the day, the sea at Point Of Sand stays ankle deep for just over 15 feet then gradually drops off, making it incredible for basking in the sun and staying cool in the water. Visitors have given many rave reviews of this beach on TripAdvisor, writing about how secluded, private and quiet it is. When snorkelling around Point Of Sand, the currents can be strong – but the opportunity to see Queen Conch, Bonefish, Permits and a dozen different types of reef fish is absolutely worth it.

SOUTHERN CROSS CLUB
BAREFOOT LUXURY AT SOUTHERN CROSS CLUB
Southern Cross Club provides an oasis from a busy day of diving. Rent a kayak and paddle over to Owen Island, catch some sun on the white sand, or take a leisurely walk along the coastline. With 900 feet of waterfront along the South Hole Sound, you can lounge, fish, swim and snorkel to your heart’s content.
