KALANGGAMAN ISLAND
The island got its name from the root word “langgam”, which means bird in Bisaya. Viewed from above, the two ends of the island seem to flap like bird’s wings with the changing tides. PALAUI ISLAND: UNTOUCHED PARADISE
Palaui Island in Santa Ana, Cagayan is a protected landscape and seascape managed by the DENR.
Palaui Island was declared as a National Marine Reserve boasting of 21 commercial species of fish with about 50 hectares (120 acres) of undisturbed corals. The island is the tenth entry in CNN’s World’s 100 Best Beaches list which was published on May 13, 2013 which remarked the island’s “raw beauty”. Its northernmost point is the historic Cape Engaño Lighthouse.

UGIS PEAK
The trek to the knife edge of Ugis Peak is short but definitely challenging for may reasons.
A trek to Ugis Peak will introduce you to the local culture of the Teduray as you pass by communities and meet some farmers along the trail. Proper coordination with the local government will ensure you of a Teduray guide conversant about their culture, the place and the mountain.

Ugis trail remains to be one of the paths least taken among the peaks and trekking destinations in the region. But slowly it is becoming more popular among mountaineers seeking for a destination for a short but rewarding dayhike.

OLANGO CHANNEL

CAMOTES ISLAND
Located north of Cebu, across Danao City—the island is located at the northeast of Cebu Province and is composed of 4 towns, namely: Poro (composed of 17 barangays), San Francisco (composed of 15 barangay), Tudela (composed of 8 barangays), and Pilar (composed of 5 barangays). To across the island, one has to go to Danao City, an hour away from Cebu City or take a fast ferry. There are two boats which travel to and from the island and Danao City everyday.

BANTAYAN ISLAND
Serene and tranquil, and boasting of fine white sand beaches, this island is a favorite holiday hangout, especially during the Lenten season. The historically rich Holy Week celebration of Bantayan Island is among the most elaborate in the country—using life size statues during the Holy Thursday and Good Friday processions. Bantayanons also enjoy a rare Holy Week privilege of Catholic Church exemption from fasting from a 200 year old Papal Bull edict.

PHILIPPINE TARSIER SANCTUARY
These cute furry creatures are considered as the smallest primate in the world. They weigh only about 113 to 142 grams or four to five ounces. Tarsiers are named such due to their special elongated tarsal bones, which form their ankles and enable them to leap almost 10 feet from tree to tree. The most notable feature of the tarsier is their eyes, which are bigger than its entire brain. They hunt at night exclusively for animal prey which includes insects such as cockroaches and crickets.

OBOC RIVER CRUISE
Take a relaxing cruise along the Loboc River while enjoying a sumptuous lunch and a soothing serenade of local songs. Motorized bancas and floating restaurants take cruisers upstream passing by nipa trees, coconuts and other tropical flora. BILAR MAN-MADE FOREST
A favorite stop-over for tourists going to and from the Chocolate Hills, the Bilar Man-made Forest is a two-kilometer stretch of dense forest made of red and white mahogany trees. The forest is part of a reforestation project more than 50 years ago.

ABATAN RIVER CRUISE AND FIREFLY WATCHING
Abatan River is one of the three main rivers in the province that traverses through the towns of Catigbian, Antequera, Balilihan, Maribojoc and Cortes. It covers about 400 hectares with the river opening up to an estuary that consists of mixed mangrove and nipa swamp. In 2008, a community tour along the river was initiated that generate much needed income for the farmers and fisherfolks living along the river. The activity also instills to the community the importance of preserving the environment and conservation of cultural heritage. To date, the community has added firefly watching tour to their activities offered.

CASARORO FALLS
Casaroro Falls, considered one of the treasures of the municipality of Valencia in Negros Oriental, has attracted foreign and domestic tourists of all ages despite the steep trails that one has to go through to reach the falls.

LAKE BALANAN
On May 5, 1925 the town of Siaton, Negros Oriental was hit by an earthquake that registered 6.8 on the Richter scale. This caused massive landslides in the southern Balanan River that flowed between these ranges forming a 25 hectare “humerus” bone-formed lake oriented along the northwest-southeast line.

TULAPOS MARIN SANCTUARY
Plunge into the waters and witness the abundant species of fish, corals, and other underwater marine life of Tulapos Marine Sanctuary located in the municipality of Enrique Villanueva.

CANTABON CAVE
Of Siquijor Island’s 45 caves, the most famous of which is Cantabon Cave. The long and winding network can be challenging at turns but always delights with its beautiful stalactites.

MACTOL FALLS / SAN PUGO FALLS
This towering falls about 50 meters high spills into a shimmering basin about 22 meters deep. All who can appreciate nature in its untouched and raw form should make the trip to Mactol Falls. It is located at San Pugo, Nagtipunan.

AGLIPAY CAVES AND CAMPSITE
Aglipay Caves and Campsite promises a special venue for communing with nature. A series of 38 caves, seven of which have been developed as tourist spots. Located in the midst of rolling hills and verdant forest, the caves boast of peculiar characteristics of their own such as an underground spring and well-preserved stalagmites and stalactites. The caves interlink with each other and run to a depth of about 20 meters. The place is recommended for camping activities and outdoor functions especially for big groups.

MT. UGU
This beautiful mountain offers trails that pass through native communities of the Kalanguya tribes and is becoming a favorite mountaineering destination among outdoor enthusiasts.

IMUGAN WATER FALLS
Imugan Water Falls, Sta. Fe, Nueva Vizcaya is a two-level falls with shallow catch basin. Trek over streams emanating from the falls. Enjoy trekking, exploration, swimming, fishing, and cultural immersion. Also within the area is the Imugan Mountain Fresh Factory which utilizes wild berries and other fruits to produce spreads and jams while visitors can watch the production process and shop for preserved fruit spreads. Imugan is about 30 minutes from National Highway. About 30 minutes on feeder road is the Malicu Village offering a wide variety of lettuce and other fruits produced by the locals where buyers can buy wholesale and retail.

CALVARY HILLS AND CHAPEL OF TRANSFIGURATION
Calvary Hills and the Chapel of Transfiguration—located at Dariok Hills, Barangay Balintokatok in Santiago City offers a pilgrimage venue for the Holy Week where life-size Stations of the Cross are presented from the foot of the hill going all the way up to the top where a chapel was so designed to face the rising sun. The Chapel of Transfiguration offers pilgrims a commanding silence befitting a place of worship and can also be utilized for masses and retreat venues.

FARM TOURISM DESTINATIONS
Cagayan City’s Farm Tourism Destinations include mushroom production centers, “Gulayan ng Bayan”, orchard farms, prawn hatchery farm, and a fruit farm that allows al fresco dining and pick and pay experience.

CALAYAN ISLAND
Calayan Island is a destination for nature and adventure lovers; its waters—the Babuyan Channel and Balintang Channel is home to dolphins and whales. PORTABAGA
Portabaga Falls in Sta. Praxedes is one of the tallest falls in Cagayan. Approximately 15 meters in height, it has man-made pools and picnic huts for excursionists as well as accommodation facilities for nature. Sta. Praxedes is 194 kilometers from Tuguegarao City and is about 100 meters from the highway.

CAGAYAN RIVER
Cagayan River is the Philippine’s mightiest watercourse—the longest at about 400 kilometers and widest river in the country. Three major tributaries—Ilagan River, Magat River, and Chico River meet other streams and flow to the Cagayan River. The famous “lurung” fish abound in the river during the rainy season when the river is murky and the fishes swim upstream from the delta at Aparri to spawn. It empties at the Aparri estuary.

JACKPOT CAVE
The Jackpot Cave is currently the second deepest cave in the country with a surveyed depth of about 115 meters and a surveyed length of 355 meters. The cave is recommended for professionals and with assistance from the Sierra Madre Outdoor Club (SMOC).

MT. MATAREM
Mt. Matarem is an extinct volcano 495 meters at its summit found in the municipality of Ivana.

COMMUNAL PASTURE LAND
Communal Pasture Land in Mahatao is 25 minutes on good road from Basco. Also called Racuh a Payaman, it offers a panoramic view of the hills and the sea; in this area, the cows outnumber the people.

CHAWA CAVE
Chawa Cave in Mahatao is for the adventurous tripper. An enchanted cave with natural salt beds whose mouth opens to the South China Sea and is accessible through the boulders of Chawa Point. It is four kilometers from Basco.

NAIDI HILLS
Come across the magnificent Naidi Hills which scans the rolling hills of Batan Island and witness a breathtaking view of the sunset while enjoying an al fresco type of dinner by the lighthouse.

BLAZE A TRAIL AT MT. IRAYA
Mt. Iraya is a dormant volcano standing at 1,517 meters above sea level. It is good for mountain climbing and trail blazing and is a few kilometers from Basco. Its last eruption was in 505 AD and has become the source of fertile soil in Basco and parts of Mahatao.

SABTANG ISLAND A SIGHT TO BEHOLD
Sabtang Island is a 30-minute rocky ride from Ivana Seaport on a round-bottomed falowa, 14 kilometers southwest of Batan Island. It has intermittent sand beaches and is dominated with steep mountains and deep canyons with small level areas sporadically found along the coastline. It is one of the most beautiful islands in Batanes. Visit Chavayan and witness the rolling of the seven waves: Sumnanga or the Little Hongkong; Nakanmuan, the fishing village; watch the “Kuyab” or Migratory Birds from China that flock by the hundreds during the month of October.

BARAS BIRD SANCTUARY
Encounter various wild migratory bird species such as cattle egret, black-crowned night heron, great egret, and rufous night-heron at the Baras Bird Sanctuary. Get to participate in the Tacurong Bird Festival, the first and only bird watching festival in South Central Mindanao attended by different bird watchers around the world.

MAGUES HOT & COLD SPRING
Pamper yourself with a hot bath from the natural hot and cold pools of Marguez Spring Pools and have a soothing traditional massage. Nearby is a Teduray cultural village where you can learn their way of life.

MARAWIR PEAK AND MARGUES HOT AND COLD SPRING
Approximately 10 kilometers from the Poblacion, it has a total of 5 hectares land area located atop of a rolling hill where one can have a panoramic view of the whole municipality of Esperanza and a sizeable portion of Isulan.

LAGBASAN CAVE
The municipality of Senator Ninoy Aquino nested on along the Kulaman Valley hosts a number of caves, one of which is Lagbasan Cave which hides world-class speleotems on its untouched splendor. Entry to this cave is limited to photography and research purposes only to ensure its protection.

MARIANOS BLOOMING AGRI-TOURISM PARK
The sunflower field of Tupi in South Cotabato is one of the newest tourist destination in SOX Region that day trippers have been raving about. It’s something unique in the area even given the numerous scenic places throughout around and it’s attracting visitors coming in droves.

The Mariano’s Blooming Agri-Tourism Park (formerly Blooming Petals Agri Tourism Park) in Purok 3A in Poblacion, Tupi quickly gained popularity since it opened its gate to visitors last May 27 when the sunflowers began to bloom. It is actually turning social media feeds now into yellow.

HIDAK FALLS
Aside from Lake Holon, Bakngeb River Cave Adventure, the rich culture of the T’boli tribe, and the T’boli Monument with colorful musical fountain show every weekend, there’s so much more to see and experience in the town of T’boli in South Cotabato. Hidak Falls and Hikong Kmebel in Barangay Kematu are just some these which will soon take the limelight as site development is well underway. The waterfalls hug the boulders until it reaches the ground. Hidak in T’boli language refers to slippery rocks. Parker, is Lake Holon whose clear waters and surrounding green pastures bring forth a feeling of peace and tranquility to every visitor who dare to climb its trails.

Aside from exploring the cave and swimming in its pool, water tubing and river rafting are two activities that can be enjoyed.

SARANGANI PARAGLIDE
The Sarangani Paragliding experience is a breathtaking view of Sarangani Bay. The azure sky compeiments the blush bay and warm wind will caress your face. It’s a wonderful, extra ordinary flight. PAWIKAN SANCTUARY
The Maitum Pawikan Sanctuary and its study site is located Barangay Old Poblacion. 40 adults and 6,000 hatchlings has been freed by the sanctuary to the sea so far.

MAITUM WATERTUBING
Enjoy the clear and cold water of Pangi River in New La Union in the Municipality of Maitum. Get onboard the improvised rubber tube. The adventure is a 1.6-kilometer ride over rocks and water.

RIO VISTA FARM & RESORT
RioVista Farm and Forest is an organic, upland, integrated farm and natural (sylvigenesis) reforestation in Malungon, Sarangani. The 47-hectare rolling farm in Sitio Rancho, Nagpan is planted to coconut, pomelo, and various varieties of banana, cacao, and mango. Up to 60% of the farm is devoted to reforestation. It has an elevation of 300m ASL.

A 3-hectare demo farm is being used as ATI XII learning site for organic farming. The learning site provides training in organic concoctions, vegetable production, soil management, pest and disease management, goat raising, native free range chicken, inland aquaculture, SALT, integrated farming, and agro-entrepreneurship. The learning site has a dorm for 20 trainees, a lecture hall for 50 persons, a dining hall, and demo farm for actual, hands-on learning.

The farm has also a home-stay facility with 5 bedrooms (AC, private T&B) which can accommodate up to 14 persons. It offers horseback riding, river trekking, river bathing/swimming, farm road hiking, farm work hands-on experience, and camping. It is applying for accreditation as a day farm tourism site.

The 15-hectare private virgin forest preserve in 900m ASL elevation Kalonbarak, Poblacion will be developed into a nature park and high value vegetables farm. They will also put up a “children’s nature and environment” learning site.

KALONBARAK SKYLINE RIDGE
An upstart eco-cultural tourism in the municipality of Malungon that is seated approximately 2,375 feet above sea level which provides an overlooking view of the provinces of Sarangani, Davao, and South Cotabato with four popular peaks of the Philippines—Mt. Apo, Mt. Matutum, Mt. Busa, and Mt. Parker (Lake Holon). The cool climate and the spectacular landscape will surely mesmerize tourists and guests which is more fun and best for camping activity.

LAKE AGCO
Coined as the ‘Garden of Eden’ of Kidapawan City, this lake and the surrounding environs is considered a Natural Spa Village. It is a steaming hot lake which sulfuric mud is used for the mud spa applied by the Manobos on the visitors who would like to try it along with the natural steam and hot bath. One of the most visited scenic spots at the foot of Mount Apo. Surrounded by mountain ranges, Mount Apo is a protected area and is the top climbing destination in the country.

NOPOL HILLS
Nopol Hills are located in Mabuhay, General Santos City (GSC), about 45 minutes jeepney ride from GSC on unpaved road to Leyson Cattle Ranch. Nopol Hills are the only land area in the city with 200 hectares or more of tropical forest and animals especially warty pigs. It is a good place for camping and viewing the city at night time.

FELICIDAD ORCHARD GARDEN & ORGANICS
The first accredited farm tourism site in SOCCSKSARGEN (SOX). Nestled in the idyllic city of General Santos City, the farm of Felicidad Orchard and Garden Organics pioneered the vermi culture industry in Mindanao. Its owner is a multi-awarded Filipino inventor, James Fos Reamon. The farm is now being developed as an educational destination in the Philippines for students, teachers, and organic/natural farming communities showcasing Filipino inventions, agricultural machineries and equipment, as well as providing the visitors with event venues for seminars, training programs, meetings, celebrations and field tours on the farm sites of orchard, herbs, and vegetables.

One of the largest mangrove forest in the region which houses over twenty species of mangrove located in Pinabacdao.

BANGON AND TARANGBAN FALLS
These two waterfalls in Calbayog City are part of a five-tiered waterfall system. Tarangban, which is the higher fall boast of multi-gush outlets. Bangon, the lower fall, is ideal for swimming and picnicking.

LANGON-GUBINGOB CAVES AND LULUGAYAN FALLS
This karst cave system in Calbiga is considered the biggest in the Philippines, third in Asia, and fourth in the world. Near to it is the mini Niagara of Samar—the Lulugayan Falls. It is approximately fifty meters wide and has 14-kilometer rapids.

SOHOTON CAVES
The Sohoton Cave is a cathedral-like dome with an entrance of a parabolic arch-type for about 50 meters high. It has a flat door area near the entrance, about 20 meters in width and 50 meters in length. On its ceiling hangs spike-shaped crystalline stalactites and rustic and cavernous walls and stalagmites on the cave’s floor. At the far end of the cave are a prince-like window and a balcony overlooking the natural swimming pool below.

PINIPISAKAN FALLS
The water flows into a 50-meter deep river. At the left side portion of the river are small huts provided with tables and benches. A separate hut is used as a comfort room. A grotto of Our Lady of Lourdes with 26 steps from the ground with an altar and a wishing stone bowl had been constructed. The waterfalls is part of the Samar Island Natural Park (SINP) and is identified as an ecotourism site.

LALAGUNA BAY
A protected marine sanctuary area in Las Navas that hosts different migratory birds for bird watching. It’s best to ride a paddle boat around mangrove forest to get closer to nature.
